According to him, statutory rape offends Malay sensibilities more than it does the sensibilities of other Malaysians, making it more likely for the former to report the crime. He told the Dewan Rakyat that police recorded 1,550 reports on statutory rape in 2012, adding that Malays were victims in 1,243 of the cases. Chinese victims accounted for 73 and Indians 45. The rest were of other racial backgrounds. He added that the proportions were similar in 2013, with 1,147 Malays, 62 Chinese and 32 Indians among the 1,424 victims. “This means most Malays are sensitive to this kind of offence on teenage girls,” he said. “That’s why they lodge police reports. “Non-Malays are probably less sensitive towards this. Probably they can accept it; so there are not much reports from them.” He said the authorities had instituted several measures to prevent statutory rape, including the formation of a special police unit and the provision of counseling. He blamed Internet pornography, peer influence and uncontrolled libido for the high incidence of statutory rape. Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PAS-Rantau Panjang) asked whether weak enforcement could be one of the contributing factors, noting that there were only 162 convictions from some 3,000 police reports lodged in 2009. Wan Junaidi said parents should play a bigger role than enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety of children. “The enforcement agencies have done a lot,” he said, “but the society itself does not help. We often talk about good social values but we seldom put them into practice. “What we do most on a daily basis is to talk politics and point fingers at each other. “Society has to work hand in hand with the government if we want to curb statutory rapes.”

I was driving along AYE this evening and turning up into Pandan Flyover from exit 11 when I saw your left rear wheel started to wobble slightly. You were driving a C180 (I think) and travelling at about 40-50 km/h going into the turn on the left lane of the flyover when I saw smoke coming out from the tyre. The wobble got worse and the tyre started to disintegrate right before my eyes. Just like the tyre ripping off from the F1 car, it was scary and I slowed down. Then, the tyre came off and the whole rim was exposed. You stopped on the flyover and turned on your hazard lights, I did the same and soon the flyover was jammed and some started horning. I wanted to get off to render you my assistance but I thought it would not be safe as we were on the left lane. My apologies for not helping and hope you are okay.

Last night on the way back home walking along the carpark, I saw a lady in uniform near my car. She was scribbling something on a note and I thought "Seow liao, tio booked". She saw me and said "Your car arhh? Why park on the motorcycle lot? I've booked you but you go appeal, okay? "Why appeal leh? I kena I pay lor" I said. The problem was that the carpark at our neighbourhood was undergoing major overhaul and it is impossible to park legally if you come back very late at night. The whole carpark will be full and there'll be lots of cars parked in all sorts of places, double yellow line, along the kerb, at bends, motorcycle lots (like me) and disabled lots as well. "Ohh, I know this carpark is under renovation and we try not to book those on season parking one . . you go appeal lah" she repeated. "Then you might as well don't book me since you know all these and you look, only 1 motorbike in this 24 lots for motorcycle . . . at night at most got 4-5 only leh" "But you see huh, so many empty lots . . . I counted 32 altogether, how come you park here?" she said. "Miss, if at night got 32 lots you think I will park here? I just came back from work you know? KPE max speed of 70km/h. but i have seen people travelling up to 80 - 90km/hr even. I do not understand why drivers in KPE like to road hog the 1st lane. expressway legal limit 90km/h. but if someone is travelling faster, pls give way. don need to worry if they kena fine or not. as for KPE, same! pls give way!
