  5. Pretty impressive!!! ******************************************************** http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp...1260132/1/.html Australian casino hit by "Ocean's Eleven" scam Posted: 15 March 2013 1158 hrs MELBOURNE: Australia's largest casino has alerted police to a betting scam in which a high-roller reportedly netted AU$32 million (US$33 million) in an "Ocean's Eleven" style heist. Melbourne's Herald-Sun newspaper on Friday said a foreigner staying at the Crown Casino was involved in the sting, which it believes accessed the venue's own surveillance cameras, which are constantly trained on players and croupiers. Information gleaned from the images taken by the high-resolution cameras was apparently signalled to the high-roller as he played cards, the paper said, comparing it to Hollywood blockbuster "Ocean's Eleven". In the 2001 comedy-crime caper, actors Brad Pitt and George Clooney also recruited someone familiar with security to rob a series of Las Vegas casinos. Crown said a staff member from the VIP gambling area had been sacked and the patron involved banned after the scam was uncovered several weeks ago, the newspaper added. Victoria state police said they had been informed of the incident. Deakin University's Linda Hancock, who has written a book about Crown, said surveillance cameras were throughout the casino but even more intensified in the premium areas. "There's someone in monitoring rooms looking at them in real time," she told the ABC. "So they must have picked up that there was a winning streak here that looked suspicious and zoomed in on it and then been able to look at what was going on in real time in the room." Reports said Crown believed it could recover a significant portion of the money.

  7. Anyone playing this arcade game whereby you control cannon to shoot fishes for coins. Just curious about the objectives of the game, is it just to past time, or got some form of gambling, like win credit. Saw people of all ages playing, and got auntie running over to the counter to buy credits, very comical.
  8. Hi all.. my first new thread in the new interface MCF I'm thinking of doing a self-drive from Adelaide to Melbourne some time in Feb, and would like to ask some questions. The very rough plan is to drive from adelaide to melbourne over 5-6 days. Do sightseeing along GOR (sightseeing anywhere and everywhere lah) for about 2 days, then arrive at melbourne and maybe visit philip island. is that too ambitious? I'm thinking the total distance will be about 1000kms. I'm ok with long distance road trips, having done SG to penang, penang to SG a few times and stopping just for food/petrol/pee. of course, aussie driving conditions are different. i expect (i may be mistaken though) stricter enforcement of speed limits, lower speed limits, less petrol kiosk in between, and curvier roads. also, i don't plan to do more than 300km in any one day. probably will drive and stop whenever we feel like it. However, only one driver, and that's me. my wife is an OK co-driver in the sense that she stays awake, talks to me and helps look out for stuff. But she's hopeless with maps is it possible to rent a car from adelaide and return it at melbourne? based on the air fares, it seems best to go from adelaide to melbourne and not the other way around. alternatively, is it better to just start from melbourne and do GOR both ways? the air fare would be even cheaper cos return flight from SG to melbourne. but i prefer the idea of a journey from A-B rather than a loop. i'm open to suggestions. been reading some articles online but nothing beats feedback from fellow forumers who have been there and done that. Admin and immigration issues... besides applying for the australia ETA online, nothing else right? are non-biometric passports allowed for travel down under?

  11. PUB clears river sludge along Robertson Quay By Jinny Koh, TODAY | Posted: 27 May 2008 0952 hrs Photos 1 of 1 SINGAPORE: The air along Robertson Quay has finally been cleared. And the source of the offending stench a 1m-thick layer of sludge lining the bed of the Singapore River has been removed, giving the area a breath of fresh air. The years of muck that lined a 50m stretch of riverbed could have been due to dead leaves, litter and silt discharged from nearby worksites, especially after rain, said a PUB officer during a media briefing at the quayside on Monday. The sludge fronting the Red House at The Quayside had been assailing the nostrils of visitors, patrons and tenants for the last three months. And while the PUB assured that the air is clean again, the agency would
