Hector Alejandro Cabrera Fuentes, a Mexican citizen, and his wife were about to board a plane back to their native Mexico from Miami on Sunday, when a customs official asked to inspect their phones. The official looked in a file of recently deleted images on the phone of Fuentes’s wife and found a close-up photograph of a license plate. The plate belonged to the vehicle of a US government source, federal prosecutors said in a statement. Fuentes admitted to the US Customs and Border Protection that he had told his wife, who was not named in the statement, to take the picture. It turned out, federal prosecutors said, that Fuentes was acting on behalf of a Russian government official who had recruited him in 2019 to rent property in Miami-Dade County and gather information. “The Russian official told Fuentes not to rent the apartment in Fuentes’s own name and not to tell his family about their meetings,” according to a statement from the Department of Justice. Hector Fuentes met with the Russian official twice in Moscow, it said. During the second meeting this month, the official gave Fuentes a physical description of a US government source’s vehicle. The Russian official “told Fuentes to locate the car, obtain the source’s vehicle license plate number, and note the physical location of the source’s vehicle,” according to the statement. The two were supposed to meet again around April or May so that Fuentes could give him the information, officials said in the statement. Federal officials said Fuentes and his wife rented a car, and Friday they followed the US source home. A security guard on the premises became suspicious of the couple because the rental car had tailgated another vehicle to get inside the building complex. As the guard approached Fuentes, his wife got out of the car and snapped a photo of the government source’s vehicle, federal officials said. The guard asked the couple what they were doing there, and Fuentes said they were visiting someone at the building. “Security did not recognize the person as living there and told Fuentes to leave the premises,” federal officials said. Recently my kid is on a dino craze for some reason. lol. been bugging me to bring her see dinosaur after some googling then i realised we actually have real dinosaur bones in singapore! ( yes i know i'm Sua Gu) didn't even know that there was a lee kong chian natural history museum. hahaha. Tickets are generally affordable. got discount for singaporeans/pr. got a very nice souvenir shop with lotsa education toys. my kid made a small whole in my wallet. haha the dinos were very impressive. huge! every 30min or so there is a laser show with sound effects. quite interesting. i was surprised that my kid could tell me the names of the dinos. What the hell are they teaching to 3 yr old kids in school nowadays?? after from the dino bones. there are alot of others educational exhibits too for budding paleontologists. apart from my kid, think my maids were the happiest. hahaaha hope you guys find this useful. maybe can plan a trip during the upcoming school holidays. A student studying at the National University of Singapore (NUS) fell eight stories to her death after trying to get into her residential hall room from a window. According to a report in The New Paper (TNP), the 18-year-old South Korean had locked herself out of her room on the seventh storey of Block C of Sheares Hall on Saturday (28 Oct). The Singapore Police Force (SPF) told Yahoo News Singapore it was alerted to a case of fall from height at 20 Heng Mui Keng Terrace at 11:38am on 28 October. “An 18-year-old woman was unconscious when conveyed to the National University Hospital where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries,” said SPF. Police are investigating the unnatural death. The residents were informed by email of the tragic event on Saturday afternoon. Attended a free concert at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, at the National University of Singapore recently. They call this event, "Let's make a musical friend". This conservatory is the first in Singapore to offer full time studies, leading up to Bachelors or Masters of music degrees. It is located next to the Lee Kong Chian history museum (where they are exhibiting the sperm whale). The conservatory has a very cool building. From the inside, it looks like this. The first part of the event was held in the conservatory concert hall. A beautiful hall! The whole idea of this event is not some high-brow classical music concert that would certainly put the kids to sleep. Rather, it was designed as a fun event, to showcase the classical instruments of an orchestra to the families and kids. For a start, here was the introduction to the woodwinds. Which instruments are these? Flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon. The instrumentalists on stage. All studying at the Yong Siew Toh. Next, introduction to the instruments of the marching band - BRASS! Loved the surprise surround sound and the way the students marched in. Just 5 instruments and the sound was gorgeous. Next, strings. I think all of us are familiar with the violin. But there is also the viola, cello and later on the double bass. In this picture, there were all holding up their bows. The emcee was comparing their bows to lightsabers. After the strings, came the percussion. Too many instruments to name, so the emcee didn't name them. The performance was pretty good. And finally, the entire orchestra came out on stage to perform, the theme from Harry Potter! Very nicely done. The acoustics in the concert hall were fantastic and the kids were rather well behaved! After the concert, we could attend what they call sectionals, or information sessions for the various instrument groups. We decided to check out the woodwinds. Here is one student playing a short phrase from Swan Lake, on the oboe. Overall, it was a wonderful afternoon spent. Kids had plenty of fun. They hold this event once a year, at about this time of the year (usually March holiday weekends). So go catch it if you are interested to expose your kids to classical music.
