  1. Here are official design patent drawings of the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Aveo four-door sedan and five-door hatchback models, filed by General Motors. The next generation of GM's Ford Fiesta rival was teased in concept form with the sporty Aveo RS hatchback study at 2010 Detroit Auto Show in January. The drawings of the five-door model suggest that the production version follows pretty closely to the RS concept minus of course some snazzy details like the shaved door handles, huge alloy wheels and the more pronounced side sills. The hatchback does keep the concept study's hidden rear door handles that are concealed in the C-pillars. The sedan, on the other hand, gets a more conventional design with the roof-line similar to the larger Cruze. We're likely to see the production versions of both the sedan and hatchback Aveo making their official debut by the end of this year's auto show season, possibly even at the Paris show in September, with sales following in 2011.
  2. What you're staring at in disbelief is Chevrolet's Aveo RS Concept car. A little out of the fantasy books but if you tear away the aggressive bumpers, ridiculously large rims and the center exhausts at the rear, you're essentially looking at Chevrolet's next generation Aveo. In terms of design both inside and out, the team at Chevrolet seem to have been given the order to step it up a notch and bring this entry level affordable runaround into the more serious market occupied by the new VW Polo. And what a way to really get the competition worried. The steering wheel does look identical to the Cruze's and so does the centre console. What's really unique here is the motorcycle inspired meter cluster...that's just really really magical isn't it? The leather seats get outlined in cool blue as well. With most concepts though, most of these awesome and impractical designs will never make it to see the light of day out of the factory so along with the bumpers, rims and center exhausts, those brake rotors are gone, mirrors, rear door handle which has been integrated to the body Alfa style and headlamp cluster. We're not sure if the interior is going to be changed massively but we're hoping they keep the motorcycle guages. Currently the RS should never see production but with the Polo having its own GTI line, it's a matter of time before we'll get a taste of the RS.
