The first thing I would do when I spot a hazardous driver is to get FAR AWAY from them. My reasons for doing so are: (1) I am a defensive driver (2) I love my car However, for this Toyota Noah driver, he does the exact opposite of what I would do: What Happened? An elderly Toyota Hiace driver woke up on a fine morning and decided to be a d!ck on the road by cutting off a Toyota Noah at a junction upon the traffic light turning green. (1 count of near collision) In response, the Noah driver tapped on his brakes repeatedly and even jam-braked at one point to avoid a collision with the van. At this point, the Noah driver was probably seeing red as he began driving aggressively, including overtaking the Hiace using a right-turn-only lane. Further down the road, both vehicles drove side by side (probably exchanging hand gestures and vulgarities) when the elderly Hiace driver decided to pull his stunt AGAIN - by cutting in front of the Noah driver once again. (2 counts of near collision) The obviously furious Toyota Noah driver retaliated by overtaking the Hiace from the left and cutting in front of it. (3 Counts of near collision) ANDDDDD....the Hiace performed exactly what the Noah driver did to him - by overtaking from the left and cutting in front of the Noah driver. (4 Counts of near collision) At last, both drivers' shenanigans ended when they stopped at a red light. However, the Toyota Noah driver alighted from his vehicle, walked brazenly towards the driver's side window of the Hiace, and gave it one good smack, jolting the elderly driver. The Noah driver made a rude hand gesture towards the elderly driver before returning to his MPV. Too old to drive? Or is he simply an elderly d-bag? Whatever it is, this elderly driver should have his driver's license revoked for two simple reasons: (1) Assuming his actions were unintentional...it suggests that he is unfit to drive due to his age (Eg. Poor eyesight, hand-eye coordination, or a lapse in judgement). (2) Assuming his actions were intentional...nuff said. Somehow or rather, cyclists are always associated with poor road behaviour or being a road pest. Watch the video below and find out why it isn't difficult for the public to feel that way: What Happened? A Toyota Rav 4 was waiting for pedestrians to finish crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing before performing his left turn. Despite a blinking green man signal with 2 seconds left on the timer, a cyclist from the other side of the road made a last-minute decision to rush across the road with his two kids in tow. The driver failed to notice the cyclist and proceeded with his turn since it was highly likely that he was in the driver's blind spot. As a result, the Toyota SUV grazed the front of the bicycle, which caused the cyclist to stumble. Needless to say, the cyclist vented his frustration and anger at the Toyota driver by gesturing his middle finger towards the white SUV. I am pretty sure if there was audio, we could hear lots of profanities being projected from the cyclist. Netizens' Comments Typical road pest. Definitely both parties were at fault. The conflict between motorists and cyclists never ends. Every time it happens, a dashcam video emerges on the internet for us to spectate the drama between them. Here's one such video that occurred over the weekend. Where? The incident occurred at Kranji dam, along Kranji Way, which is a two-lane road. It seems as if Tour de Singapore is the favourite pastime of Singaporeans these days and it's commonplace to see big groups of cyclists on the road nowadays (as though the pandemic is already over). Road regulation reminder for cyclists Cycling abreast is allowed, but only on roads with more than one lane in the same direction. Below is an example where cyclists are allowed to cycle abreast. In this case, cycling abreast is prohibited since Kranji Way is a two-lane road going in opposite directions. Increasing the number of cyclists does not mean you can flout the regulations. Don't give me that 'strength in numbers' bull crap. The Van Driver The van driver was obviously feeling a tad bit frustrated from the road hogging of the entire kampong of cyclists. As such, he took matters into his own hands by crossing the double white lines to go against the traffic flow to dangerously overtake (but failed) the group of cyclists. That's three offences committed within quick succession of one another – The perfect formula to getting your license suspended or revoked. Netizens' Comments Straight facts. It is always good practice to wear protective gear whenever you are cycling. However, being decked out in protective gear doesn't grant you superpowers or special protection against other road users/vehicles. Watch this short clip and find out what I mean: This incident occurred at a junction along Hougang Avenue 9. A blatant disregard for traffic law The traffic lights were green, which permitted the cam car and Bus 109 (travelling in the opposite direction) to proceed. Despite having the right of way, the bus driver could be seen giving way to a pedestrian dressed in a white t-shirt before moving off. As the bus driver moves off, a cyclist riding from the pavement sped across the pedestrian crossing. This "genius" did not conform to the red man signal and ended up getting hit by the bus. Clearly in the bus driver's blindspot It is necessary to state that it is NOT easy driving such big vehicles (Eg. buses, trucks). Although it may be easier for others to spot these larger vehicles, amplifying their road presence, this also means that these larger vehicles will have an increased number of blind spots which prevent their driver from having a clear view of his surrounding. When you are driving/riding and someone is in your path, you give way or slow down right? Well...not for this guy. Watch this 10-second clip to see his hazardous riding: The incident took place along Sims Avenue. Cam bike's intentions backfired The cam bike submitted the video above, intending to shame the elderly pedestrian for jaywalking. However, things took a turn when netizens started calling out the cam bike for his dangerous behaviour, and some even roasted him. What happened? The cam bike rode along Sims Avenue at a relatively fast speed (compared to the other vehicles around him). After he rode past a lorry, an elderly pedestrian in striped clothing can be seen crossing the road from afar. But instead of giving way to the jaywalker, the cam bike rode extremely close to him ON PURPOSE and gave the uncle a rude hand gesture. Netizens' comments Self-owned, nuff said. Motorists like the cam biker should go to hell. Straight-up facts. It doesn't hurt for cam bike to slow down or give way to the elderly pedestrian.
