Mugen is preparing body kits, new exhausts, and other parts for the latest Honda Civic Type R. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/703238/honda-civic-type-r-by-mugen-for-2024-tokyo-auto-salon/ Mugen has over 50 years of experience in tuning and motorsport. The company has turned its attention to the Civic Type R by bringing a pair of modified examples to the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon that runs from January 12 through 14. They feature updated body kits and some mild performance tuning. Mugen calls the two flavors of modified Civic Type R the Group A and Group B. For now, there's only a single image of each car, but a video offers some additional details about each trim. Honda Civic Type R Group A by Mugen Honda Civic Type R Group B by Mugen The Group A kit is the milder one of the pair. Mugen adds a more aggressive front splitter and gives the front corner inlets a sharper shape. There are revised side sills and a reshaped wing out back. While not visible in this photo, the back bumper also has some styling changes. In all, it looks like something Honda could come up with for a special edition Type R from the factory. The Group B kit goes much further. It has the same front splitter and side inlets as the Group A, but there's also a carbon-fiber hood with lots of vents and slits. The top of the front fenders have additional openings to vent air from the wheel wells, while broad side sills give the flanks a more muscular appearance. Out back you'll find a tall wing and a modified bumper. The flamboyantly designed pieces give the Civic Type R a more stereotypical "tuner car" look that evokes the modded Civics from the early 2000s. These kits are not purely about aesthetics. Mugen used computational fluid dynamics to tune the pieces to help the Civic Type R's aerodynamic performance. The upgrades aren't limited to looks, either. Mugen is also developing new performance parts for the Type R. New dampers and BBS-sourced forged 19-inch wheels are part of the package. The Group A gets a stainless steel exhaust and new brake pads. The Group B has titanium pipes in addition to new brake calipers and rotors. Inside, the tuned Civic Type Rs feature a new steering wheel with Mugen branding on the bottom, bucket seats, a new shift knob, and carbon-fiber trim on the center console. Mugen will announce pricing for these parts at the Tokyo Auto Salon. We should also get a better look at the cars to see how much the body kits alter the Type R's appearance.

From its previous generation to the recently launched one, the Honda Accord has been a generally well-liked family sedan. So to add on a bit of spice, I've decided to see whether there are any nice tuning bits for this handsome car. Mugen has already done some cool packages for the Accord. Eagle-eyed readers will notice that this is actually the Accord Hybrid, which has not arrived on our shores yet but it seems to me that most of the styling changes can be retrofitted onto the normal Accord too. On the outside, Mugen has given it more presence with a new set of front, side and rear skirts. There are carbon front grill and carbon boot lid spoiler as well. You can also opt for their new 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels to improve on the handling side of the already well-balanced sedan. Other than the above mentioned, those who already have the car should go and get a set of coilover to complete the stance look!

Now that we all know how the new Honda Fit/Jazz is going to look like, Mugen, one of the few big tuners for Honda, has just launched their new line of aftermarket goodies for the new Fit. Firstly, they designed two different types of front spoiler, one of which is more aggressive than the other. Customers will also have the option to choose the front under spoiler and the side spoiler in either single body colour or two-tone with body colour and matte black. An upper rear wing finished in carbon is also available for the RS/S Package giving an even sportier look. A new wheel, Mugen "MD8", has also been developed for the new Fit in addition to two other styles that are already in Mugen's lineup. Those who are looking to improve their performance on the road can look forward to Mugen

Honda previews its line-up for the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon
FaezClutchless posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
The 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon is just around the corner. It will be held at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Chiba from 11 January 2013 to 13 January 2013. Many Japanese auto firms and aftermarket companies will display their wares or projects at the show and Honda has announced its line-up for the upcoming auto show. Modulo, Honda's aftermarket products division has a couple of cars that will be presented at the show. Firstly, it is the S2000 Modulo Climax. It is practically an S2000 which was given a new exterior styling and interior parts. Next up is Honda's latest Kei car model, the N-One. It also receives Modulo's styling treatment, both interior and exterior. Mugen, another aftermarket and tuning firm closely associated with Honda, will also display several of their cars. First up is the Honda CR-Z Mugen RZ. On top of the sporty looking exterior styling, the hybrid hatchback receives a supercharger which delivers around 174bhp which includes the supplemental 20bhp from the electric motor. The car also receives adjustable suspension, 17 inch forged wheels and larger front brakes. The car comes in only one body colour which Mugen calls Azure Blue Metallic and only 300 units will be made commercially. Mugen has also developed a couple of "Mugen treated" Honda N-Ones. The Mugen N-One did not receive any engine modifications, only exterior styling modifications and Mugen badged interior parts. The car comes in either red or white body colour. Honda will also display two cars from the Super GT racing series and they are the HSV-010 GT and the Mugen CRZ-GT. The Mugen CR-Z GT racing car won the 2012 Formula Nippon team championship under the Docomo Dandelion Racing team.-

In the past, hybrid vehicles are normally seen as drab-looking cars and some groups also see them as slow moving. But ever since Honda released its CR-Z hybrid model, those views have changed. Although it may not offer blistering pace but its looks and styling compensate for it. Now, the Honda CR-Z is not only getting faster but also sports an exciting look. Honda has announced that they will expand their role in the Super GT racing series with the Mugen-powered CR-Z GT. Japan

The Honda Jazz (also known as Fit in some countries) is a popular car model on this island and many people associate it as a daily drive. You can virtually see them at almost every car park. To see it as a rally car would be something different and that is what Honda has done for the Jazz in Australia. Honda Australia recently unveiled two new Mugen tuned Jazz rally cars which will be used for the 2012 Bosch Australian Rally Championship (ARC). It is said to be the fastest Honda Jazz in the world and they have been designed to meet Group 2 (G2) specifications. The basis for the new G2 specifications is for the usage of front or rear wheel drive cars that are available for sale in Australia and the model must not be more than seven years old. Honda has increased its involvement in the ARC rally events this year with drivers from Evan Motorsport; Mark Pedder, Claire Ryan, Eli Evans and Glen Weston. Evans Motorsport has competed in rally events for more than thirty years and family members of Eli Evans are heavily involved in them. The Mugen 2.0 litre engine delivers over 200bhp and 193Nm of torque. Eli Evans and Glen Weston used a Honda Civic Type R for the past two years and they will start using the Jazz from this year onwards. The director of Honda Australia, Stephen Collins, mentioned that they are thrilled to be participating with Evans Motorsport racing the G2 Jazz and Honda is extremely passionate about racing and is proud to continue its support of Australian rallying with Evans Motorsport. The 2012 Bosch Australian Rally Championship comprises of 6 events held throughout Australia and will kick off on the 2nd of March in Melbourne. Honda founder Soichiro Honda once said that

Honda today announced that the Honda Civic will race in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). "We have made a decision" said Honda CEO, Takanobu Ito "to enter into the WTCC with the European Civic. We will develop a totally new engine for this project and we are all excited about starting this new challenge." For this project, Honda has formed a joint partnership with Mugen and J.A.S. Motorsport. Mugen will manufacture a bespoke racing engine developed by Honda R&D and will maintain the engine in every race along with the team. J.A.S. Motorsport will develop the race car, using the new Honda Civic 5door produced in Honda's manufacturing plant located in Swindon (UK). The racing engine is a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder direct injection turbo-charged petrol engine, developed in accordance with FIA's Super 2000 regulations. Honda's ambition is to join the WTCC as early as this season, with a string of "inaugural rounds". Discussions are currently being held with the FIA, but these rounds would include Japan (held on 21 October 2012 at Honda's Suzuka circuit), followed by China and Macau. Honda will then enter a two car team, managed by J.A.S. Motorsport, into every race in the 2013 championship season. Racing has always been a fundamental element of Honda's DNA . In the late 1950s Honda first entered the Isle of man T.T and then Formula 1 in the 1960s. The FIA WTCC is the next chapter in Honda's on-going commitment to world motor sport and provides a perfect platform to demonstrate its racing spirit to Honda's numerous fans around the world.

Mugen pimps out the Honda CR-Z. And in the other corner....a SPOON version too.
Rigval posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
It looks pretty good eh? Honda tuning arm Mugen has previewed their tuning kit for the upcoming Honda CR-Z hybrid sports coupe. However, it looks pretty good literally as not much tuning is done mechanically. The mods that would technically increase horsepower is limited to an exhaust system (most probably a cat-back only system) and air filter replacement which at the most would add about 5bhp to the total 122bhp it makes from both 1.5 liter engine and electric motor. The handling has also been uprated with a sports suspension kit while safety has been upgraded with better brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system. The styling has been 'Mugenized' by front and rear bumpers/splitter/diffuser kit, 17 inch Mugen rims and a roof spoiler. Mugen offers a carbon fiber cover for the interior mirror, a shift knob, assist meters, aluminum pedals and sport mats with Mugen logo. I am only very slightly amused. But Mugen being Mugen, it will only do a really tricked out car depending on the hierarchy in Honda. For example, a Type R will get ECU, full exhaust, cams, pistons etc, but an Accord, being a large family sedan is usually limited to a cat-back system, air filters and bodykit. Since the CR-Z is more of an urban roundabout, Mugen has obviously held itself back. So for an added kick that prospective buyers of the CR-Z need for their pretty tame coupe is a SPOON tuned version. - the SPOON CR-Z SPOON is a noted Japanese Honda tuner and they have come up with a front coilover kit and rear spring/shock kit that lowers ride height by a 50 mm. Other parts being tested are the N1 exhaust, ECU, and SPOON's -
Hybrids never fail to bore people unless they're nerds who love to talk all day about how they work or compare how many batteries their hybrid has. However, Honda's revelation of the CR-Z changed the world's perception of hybrids. What used to be stereotyped as slow and aesthetically boring is now sporty and rather handsome. Now there are plans to create another version to stuff the shoes into the mouths of hardcore petrol-heads, behold the CR-Z Type R. The CR-Z already had head turning looks but now with Mugen on the team, the Type R version is set to look even better and more aggressive than before, in short, it doesn't look like it has a ton of batteries in its belly. The coupe-like body is now matched with a red Honda badge, a body kit which will surely be scraped on speed humps, and even the Audi original day time running lights on the front lip. The most obvious difference between the standard CR-Z and the Type R is the blacked out hood and side mirrors against the Alpine White paint. This is sure to separate the men from the boys. Under the bonnet, the standard CR-Z glides with a 102bhp 1.5 litre engine with a 20bhp electric motor on board bringing the total number of horses to 122. But with Mugen, things are meant to go a little bonkers. There have been speculation that the Civic Type R's 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine could be the CR-Z's powerplant and the electric motor will be bumped up to produce 50bhp giving the CR-Z a total combined horsepower of 200 and a 0-100 timing of 6 seconds. The standard CR-Z will then be pale in comparison with a pedestrian 0-100km/h time of 9 seconds. All this speed with the fuel consumption of a camel at 20km/l which is quite amazing even though this is still all in theory. Along with the changes under the hood, the Type R will have an additional button on the dash labelled, 'Sport Plus' which makes everything feel faster and more exciting. It sharpens the throttle response, steering and the timing of the stop-start system and the electric motor will be set to work at full power to provide maximum performance. Better brakes and suspension will also be included to turn the standard CR-Z into a blazing mean machine.. The Type R is currently being prepared to make its debut in the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show before it hits the showrooms in Japan late in 2011.

Spy pics of what might be a new Mugen RR? Another 300 limited run? Looking forward to more news. Clearly based on the new FL FD2R

Run across this Mugen RR pic, check out the reverse speedo position. Guess this was only at the experimental stage. Actual production car still the same as the FD2 or is there such a version? link : http://club.pchome.net/topic_16_166_144824__.html

Click on link for more info & Pics. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/17/2008-to...erimental-spec/ One of the other concepts that graced Mugen's stand in Japan at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon was the Civic Type-RR, which in addition to the obvious replacement of the entire front clip with carbon fiber pieces, also includes a K20A engine that's been bored out to 2157 cc to create a more tractable powerband and an even higher redline. 260 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque is sent to the six-speed gearbox and down to the front wheels through a LSD. Naturally, the brakes and suspension have been upgraded to handle the extra grunt, while carbon fiber was used inside to beef up the structure. Mugen also added a system dubbed I-TCMS, or Intellligent Tire Condition Monitoring, which keeps tabs on the tire's air pressure and temperature. The dash mounted instrument cluster might be a big impediment to forward visibility, but we're sure it's nothing compared to the price.

fuji n mugen are the 2 popular exos for most fds... hw about tanabe exos, so far heard the sound from mugen n fuji. mugen is louder when idling and loud when high rev. fuji sounds lower n more bassy when idling and when high rev, can still hear the bassy effect. whereas for tanabe so far, this muffler, dun seems to have any fd report of it in many forums. actually decided on fuji once the stock arrives, but still very curious about tanabe muffler as i am seekin one which is low n bassy sound, loud or nt is secondary. any bros here installed tanabe for their FD1 ?? care to feedback hw it sounds like? or any bros here care to comment hw a typical tanabe muffler sounds like? loud and rex like or low and bassy sound. till nw can only search for clips in the net for tanabe exos, but find tat sound in clips buey chun one. real thing still best to differentiate. i posted a clip for tanabe on a civic post by pple from overseas, dunno whether is this the actual one which is available in singapore, but at least still can roughly gauge hw a tanabe sounds like. for bros using tanabe for other rides, care to comment hw it sounds like??
