  1. 6 Mods That Are A Waste Of Money For A Daily Driver In this video who is brought to you by SMEEDIA, he is sharing with us these six different mods that are a waste of money for your daily driver. You may mod your cars as he does but sometimes that money can be better spent on other aspects of the car. Keep in mind that these are his opinions and if you disagree or agree with anything on the list drop it in the comments and let's talk about it! However; over the past 10 years of playing with cars, these are all areas that are wasteful! These are his perspective and I do agree with him that is why I am sharing this. So let's get it starto!!!!! 1) quick release steering wheel. You lose your airbag when you change away from the OEM steering wheel, some of the control buttons that you can navigate your infotainment and car info. The reason why race driver will opt for a quick-release steering wheel is that they have roll cage all over the car, which makes it difficult to get inside the car. It is to create more space for the driver to get it. Functionality over form.. 2) Fixed back seat and harness. Okay. It sure looks sporty. But these things ain't gonna give your comfort. they are rigid. You can't adjust the seat you are "clamp" in a tight space because this is what a sports bucket seat suppose to do. Image if you are going for a road trip having to drive for like 2 hours long and you are stuck in these seats. I am sure it will make you aching like hell. 3) High flow panel filter His reason for the filter is because the price is marked up compared to paper filter and the horsepower gain is minimum. But! I have to disagree on this part. I think it is a worth it modification if you are an enthusiast and you are willing to do some maintenance for your car. As the high flow panel filter can perhaps last you a lifetime with proper maintenance, I am sure you can save some money by first investing in it. But make sure it is clean and oiled every time it goes for servicing. Ponypower wise, I think it makes no diff. And I am not a fan of open intake. It changes to characteristics of the car a bit. So I am in for high panel filter. 4) Turbo timer Unless you have stage 2 or even upgraded your turbo, getting a turbo timer in your daily drive is quite impractical. The standard turbo is paired accordingly to the engine size. So what do you need to time for? 🤔 5) Fake aero. I am 100% against this. as it does not add performance to the car and it might even cause additional fuel consumption. If you are driving an old car like me, there might be some wear and tear of your bodykit. Getting clips to secure is fine. But adding spoiler, grilles, a diffuser is redundant and a waste of money. 6) Fake vents and shrouds People who don't know might say it is cool. But when you are speaking to an enthusiast, he might think that you are a moron. Spending money at things that have no functionality at all.
  2. Are there any mods that you guys think or find that it is useless? Let's crowdsource the list of items to avoid! This thread is catered only for performance part or power gains. I found this quantum plasma magnet online that seems shady. The last time I came across quantum physics is from Ant-man from Marvel https://innersoultech.com/product/vehiclemagnets/
  3. Today we have a Maserati driver revving his engine CRAZILY loud in a densely populated HDB area in Yishun. Unfortunately, it's not a one-off situation. Judging from the multiple video shots, it seems like the driver lives there. The revving is ridiculously LOUD, and it peaks right after the car picks up speed. Imagine hearing this repeatedly EVERY SINGLE TIME he drives his car! Sadly, there's no face to pin to this driver. Watch the video and I promise you'll find the noise pollution super annoying too. In the video of the car park, you can distinctly hear the piercing rumble of the Maserati's exhaust echo throughout the entire carpark. Yes, you have money to buy a Maserati, but do you need to be such a **** to the rest of the neighbours? Also, I'm sure you don't need to floor the accelerator to go around the carpark, right? I don't even live there and I'm crying. My heart goes out to all the Yishun peeps. So the big question - Do you think the driver modified the exhaust? Or its stock? Sounds modded to me. Modifications are cool, but not if you're causing a ruckus day and night.
  4. If you buy a COE Car and have $3K to spare. . . This is an assumptive thread where I will go and fish some of the COE cars in sgcarmart and share with you all, If I were to buy these cars, what are the things that I will spend on and why I will spend on these items. I did buy a COE car, and I spend quite a fair bit in modification, But that's my hobby. For those who are considering buying COE car or those who are driving a COE car, please come and share with us your maintenance and pro tips to preserve a COE car. To start off with the first car, I have chosen my own car model. 2007 Honda Accord Euro R. So, if I put aside $3,000. What will I spend on? The car itself is in a very mint condition, Only like some exterior wear and tear I will complaint, other than that I think the car drives very well so nothing much I would like to do to the engine, Just to make it a tad bit better for daily driving. Innovative Mount - $500 + 300(labour) I bought the engine mount online at ebay and went to install. Skunk2 Short Shifter - $90 Alpine Type-E Series SXE-1750S Car Audio 6.5-Inch Component 2-Way Speakers ($60) PAC RPK4-HD1101 Audio Integrated Installation Kit 2003-2007 Honda Accord ($400) I think this is one of my best value buy. instantly make the car modern again! Now Euro R comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto! Sony XAV-AX200 DVD Receiver w/Bluetooth - ($350) The reason why I choose this headunit is because of the volume knob. I am very analog and anal when comes to these things. So this fit the bills. Momo 350 Monte Carlo Steering wheel ($130) Brought Second-hand at Japan Yahoo auction. They say airbag save lives. But unfortunately, the Honda Accord Euro R had a recall for the airbag. And I would like to preserve the original steering wheel in good condition, so when I sell the car, I hope it helps to fetch a better price, so I bought a momo steering wheel to replace. Haven't install yet, will update the photos when installed. Fluidampr performance damper ($700) Also Yahoo Auction. Since I upgraded the engine mount, the rattling of the dash is quite significant, yes, the drive is more responsive. But also a bit harsh in daily drive. So after some research, I came across this damper to help absorb some of the vibrations and also give a smoother delivery on low RPM. A full spray exterior spray painting. ($900) I have sent my car for a refresh since I might drive it for 10 years. Best decision ever! For those who want lobangs can check out MCF Marketplace for lobangs! Summary Innovative mount - $800 Skunk2 Short Shifter - $90 Alpine Speaker - $60 PAC Kit - $400 Sony XAV-AX200 - $350 MOMO Steering Wheel - $130 FluidAmpr - $700 Full Respray - $900 Total = $3,430 Over budget abit. I think Steering wheel and short shifter can be excluded if want. 😄

I wonder if these jiuhu vehicles were to come across here to SG. So how would our LTA response to this?

  10. Less than a month after ABT announced its plans to unveil its tuning take on the new Audi A7 at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, the Volkswagen Group specialist has shared the first photos and details on its available packages. ABT Sportsline offers a variety of power kits for the A7's range of engines. Starting with the 3.0-litre V6 TDI, power is tweaked from 245bhp to 282bhp while a second stage kit that utilises an in-house turbo charger can boost the TDI's output to 310bhp with an accompanying 610Nm of peak torque. For the gasoline lineup, ABT's offering is limited to the 3.0-litre supercharged V6, which gets a jump in output from 300bhp to 410bhp. External cosmetic upgrades include a front apron along with discreet side skirts and a rear apron that makes space for a new set of rectangular-shaped quad tail pipes. The luxury fastback's stance can be further enhanced with a lowering kit and a choice of alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

  12. Hi all, I am driving a FL CS3 on stock shocks and absorbers for 3.5 years. Time for a change since the rear has sunk to 2 fingers. I am on 205/50/16 rims I have a budget of 1k to play with and I am going more for comfort and ease of exiting the car. 16 inch wheels made my ride higher and i have difficulty getting out as I am a handicap on crutches. What would you suggest? Lowering springs or coilovers? What is the total cost like for both and where can I get them? I have read the various threads on the above but still not very sure. I am more inclined towards lowering springs and shocks for comfort and my usage. Pls advise. Thanks

MTM promises performance upgrades on all available engines for the A1 and has released details for two of its offerings. For the 1.6 TDI diesel with 105 PS (77 kW), MTM will offer an output upgrade to 121 PS (89 kW) while boosting torque to 282 Nm from the original 250 Nm. The
  14. German tuning firm, Carlsson, has unveiled its performance and styling package for the second generation of the 4 door sports saloon. Carlsson revised the model's exterior with a comprehensive aerodynamics package comprising of a restyled front bumper that incorporates a lip spoiler and LED fog lights. Other styling enhancements include side skirts, rear apron with a built in diffuser and a boot lid spoiler. There is also a choice of alloy wheel designs. For the interior, Carlsson's menu includes an Alcantara sports steering wheel as well as pedals and foot rest made of brushed aluminium. Floor mats featuring the firm's logo with a matching boot cover completes the interior enhancement. The tuning house offers performance upgrades for the CLS 350 CGI petrol and 350 CDI V6 diesel models. With the CK35 kit, the V6 petrol engine's output is lifted from 306HP and 370Nm to 333HP and 410Nm. As a result, the car's 0-100km/h sprint time drops from 6.1 seconds to 5.9 seconds. Thanks to the firm's C-Tronic DIESEL POWER electronic tune, the 350 CDI produces 320HP and 780Nm of peak torque, up from the stock model's 265HP and 650Nm. This allows the diesel-powered to go from 0 to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds instead of the standard 6.2 seconds. Other performance upgrades include Carlsson

  17. I can't help but think that if there was such a thing as a world ranking for the motoring enthusiast's version of hell on earth, Singapore would pretty much be amongst the top few contenders. In fact, I think our sunny island stands a good chance of coming in first. Let's start with the cost of ownership. With hefty import taxes and COE necessary evils to control our vehicle population, we find that most motoring enthusiasts are priced out of the cars that they truly desire. In fact, most would end up driving something far less exciting than what they really want (read Toyota). Furthermore, with the natural lifespan of cars clocking in at 10 years, it has become a costly endeavour to tap on the 2nd hand market for exciting or classic cars of the yesteryears. In Singapore, it seems that only the rich or the upper middle classes can get their fix of motoring adrenaline. And say you are one of the car enthusiasts who somehow scrapped together enough to buy a reasonably exciting and exotic car, this is but the start of your troubles. You stand out. And sometimes, your fellow drivers don't like that. They may carelessly swing their door too wide. Or add on a few artistic decorations. Or even if they are not the green-eyed variant, your fellow Singaporeans sometimes have clueless offspring/mates who would inflict damage on your nice car doors. Oh and let's not forget the powerful sun, dirty rainwater and potent bird poo and what it could do to your shiny paintwork. Trying to keep your car in good shape can get quite frustrating in this part of the world. If that was not enough, the next critical issue comes up - where would you unleash your car to enjoy the drive? With traffic conditions ever-worsening, I dare say that your daily commute to work would not quite cut it. And until the track at Changi is all done up, motoring enthusiasts, I am afraid, almost always have to resort to heading up north which raises another whole new set of concerns. The alternative (in Singapore), is something highly dangerous, illegal and ought to be discouraged. And last but certainly not least, we have a whole maze of legal rules and regulations governing what we can do or cannot do with our cars. Some make sense, some do not. But if you intended to be law-abiding, it would suffice to say that you probably would not be able to do anything much to your car. Customisation and modification is something that many car enthusiasts would enjoy but the rules pretty much put a dampener on any ambitious plans in this regard. Disagree? Let us have your picks and nominees for motoring hell in the comment boxes below.

    MTM tunes up Audi TT-RS

MTM has unveiled their new tuning program for the Audi TT-RS. For a whopping USD $19,810, the company equips the 2.5-liter TFSI engine with revised ECU, a MTM turbocharger and a new exhaust system. Thanks to these modifications, output climbs from 335 hp to 465 hp. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 312 km/h. This is improvement of 0.7 seconds and 62 km/h over the standard factory TT RS. By coughing out an additional USD $13,620, you can have MTM
  19. Red Devil is the name German tuning firm Wimmer RS chose for its latest take on the Volkswagen Golf R. The word 'Red' is selected because of the color for the car. The word 'Devil' represents the sinister punch under the hood of the Golf R. In stock form, the all-wheel drive Golf R rolls out of VW's factory with a 2.0-liter TFSI producing 270-hp and 350Nm of maximum torque. After Wimmer RS's engineers perform their magic, those numbers increased to a whopping 478-hp and 610Nm. The extra power comes from a variety of modifications including but not limited to changes made to the turbocharger, ECU, air intake, injection nozzles and exhaust system. According to the tuning house, the upgraded Golf R can reach an electronically limited top speed of 291 km/h. Additional performance enhancements include a coil-over suspension set and more potent braking system. The German tuner did not release info on pricing.

  21. Hi,i just bought a short shifter and will be DIYing it myself. we know that short shifter helps reduce the throw of the gear distance between each gear. my new shifter is actually about 2 cm longer than my stock one but the throw distance is about 20% shorter. but then,i have the urge to cut it shorter by about 3-3.5cm which is shorter than my stock ones. therefore before i make my final decision,i would like to hear your views. thanks for reading.
  22. Anyone know any workshop that can do: 1) crankshaft lightening and balancing. 2) balancing of new forged pistons and forged con-rods. 3) Valve spring upgrade. 4) Grinding of camshaft to higher degree duration, abt 285 degree. 5) custom make performance head gasket. 6) install performance head studs kit.
  23. Hi guys, Just to check if anyone has lobang or info on the above in neighbourhood estates in the East, eg Tampines, Bedok. Too lazy to go to SLS and furthermore need to leave set there for 2 days from what I gathered. I need someone who can mod it within few hours and price estimate would also be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  24. Hi, I am a car novice here... Currently I am driving a imported honda accord (auto) with 200bhp. I would like to know what are the ways to increase my car power gradually (perhaps by a little bit) without any modification or anything that will void the warranty and at the same time can comply to LTA regulations. It would be good if the power improvement will not cause an surge in fuel consumption. Please advise. Thanks.
