  1. Shit just got real! Will saudi march to Yemen? Source here: http://www.janes.com/article/78774/saudi-arabia-says-f-15-survived-sam-hit-over-yemen A Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) F-15 multirole fighter was “intercepted” by a surface-to-air missile (SAM) while flying over northern Yemen on 21 March, but managed to complete its mission, Colonel Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, said later that day. The Saudi Press Agency cited Col Maliki as saying the missile was launched from Sadah airport at 1548 h local time (1245 GMT), but the F-15 was able to “deal with the source of fire and return safe to base”. He said the incident was further evidence that Iran is supplying weapons to the Yemeni rebel group Ansar Allah (the Houthis) because it was not part of Yemen’s pre-war air defence inventory. Ansar Allah claimed it hit a coalition aircraft over Sadah with an SAM on the same day. It supported its claim by releasing video footage showing what appeared to be an R-27T air-to-air missile being fired from a ground launcher and apparently hitting an aircraft that was then seen trailing a plume, but not crashing. The infrared guided R-27T is the standard medium-range air-to-air missile for the MiG-29, a type used by the pre-war Yemeni Air Force. It has been known since that Ansar Allah was reroling R-27s as SAMs since at least November 2017, when the Saudi-led coalition released aerial surveillance images of one on a vehicle-mounted launcher.
  2. Seems like SPF and MSM is keeping very quiet about this incident. An area the size of a football field was cordoned off for six hours in Ang Mo Kio on Tuesday (Sept 26) after a flaming cylindrical object was tossed into a hawker centre, sparking panic. According to a report in Lianhe Wanbao on Wednesday, there were over 50 police officers at the scene. The incident took place at Block 226 in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, where Kebun Baru Food Centre is located. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the incident at 4.40pm and it sent a fire engine to the scene. The fire was extinguished by two hawkers prior to its arrival. No one was injured in the case of mischief by fire, according to police. Investigations are ongoing. The Straits Times understands that no arrests have been made yet. The object was thrown from 50m outside the hawker centre by an unidentified person, reported Lianhe Wanbao. Stall vendors were preparing for the dinner crowd, when they head a loud sound. One of them said he saw a ball of light heading towards his stall, and he was frightened and worried that it was going to explode. According to Lianhe Wanbao, he then used a metal hook from the fruit stall to hit it away. It started burning after it landed under a table, and had to be extinguished by two hawkers with a fire extinguisher.
  3. Don't play play, the fat successor means business SYDNEY - A senior US official has warned North Korea's upcoming missile launch would be aimed south for the first time and impact in an area "roughly between Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines". Kurt Campbell, the assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, delivered the message in person to Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Saturday. "If the missile test proceeds as North Korea has indicated, our judgement is that it will impact in an area roughly between Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines," Campbell was quoted as saying. "We have never seen this trajectory before. We have weighed into each of these countries and asked them to make clear that such a test is provocative and this plan should be discontinued." The nuclear-armed North has announced it will launch a rocket in mid-April to put a satellite into orbit, a move the United States, Australia and other nations see as a pretext for a long-range missile test banned by the UN. On Friday, the North said preparations for the launch "have entered a full-fledged stage of action" and promised unspecified "counter-measures" against opponents of the operation. The move by North Korea's new leadership has set off alarm bells across the region with the Philippines already calling for help from the United States to monitor the rocket, part of which is expected to land off the archipelago. Japan is readying missile defence systems to shoot down any rocket that threatens the country. North Korea's main ally China has urged that "all parties should keep calm and exercise restraint". Carr said after meeting Campbell that the launch would be "in clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions." A UN Security Council resolution passed after the North's missile and nuclear tests in 2009 bans a ballistic missile launch for any purpose. "The North Korean nuclear and long-range missile plans represent a real and credible threat to the security of the region and to Australia," Carr told the Herald. Carr added that he and Campbell had "shared views on how both the US and Australia could engage our regional partners and allies to encourage North Korea to abandon its plans". World leaders including US President Barack Obama are meeting in Seoul next week for a summit officially focused on nuclear terrorism. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon plans to raise the rocket launch at the meeting on Monday and Tuesday. See the map below and note our own location in relation to the suspected impact site. We are within range!
