hi all, need some advice here went to car dealer, bought a 2nd hand golf, exchanged hands (signed documents, payment all settled) today morning approx 1130am. our civic sold to them as a trade in. at about 1230pm, dealer called and say the civic caught fire while he was driving on the road OMG he took photos to show us, luckily no one injured. on our side, we definitely didnt sell them the car cause we know got problem and going to catch fire.. but i think they feel like we cheated them . (they are a reputable company, and we have good relations before this incident). we still want to keep the good relations but not sure how we can settle this so now the question is.... who will bear the costs of this "lemon" car? will insurance do payout for such case? will it be on our side or their company side?? thanks in advance all

Sibei fast. Under 2hr 3 mins.... https://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/kenyas-dennis-kimetto-breaks-marathon-world-record-092838412--spt.html AFP News/Tobias Schwarz - Kenya's Dennis Kimetto celebrates winning the 41st edition of the Berlin Marathon on September 28, 2014 in a new world record Kenya's Dennis Kimetto smashed the world record in the Berlin Marathon on Sunday as he made history by becoming the first man to break the 2hr 03min barrier. Dennis Kimetto of Kenya crosses the finish line in a new world record time of 2:02:57 to win the 41st Berlin marathon, …His lightning fast run of 2hr 02min 57sec was the second year running that the record had been broken in Berlin, the previous best being 26 seconds slower -- the 2:03.23 set over the same course last year by compatriot Wilson Kipsang. The performance by the 30-year-old, a former farmer from western Kenya's high-altitude Rift Valley region, delivered a new benchmark in human endurance and cemented the Kenyans' total dominance of international road racing. Dennis Kimetto of Kenya celebrates after winning the 41st Berlin marathon, September 28, 2014. Kimetto finished …"As the race went on, I saw I could do it, I'm delighted to have won," the modest Kimetto said after making history and nudging world leading times close to the two-hour barrier.Kimetto, the pre-race favourite, was part of a seven-man breakaway group after 20km, which included fellow-Kenyans Emmanuel Mutai and Geoffrey Kamworor. But Kimetto shook off Mutai four kilometres from home and crossed the line in record time over what is regarded as the world's fastest marathon course. Mutai finished second, also inside the previous record time with a run of 2:03.13 -- illustrating the depth of Kenya's talent. Dennis Kimetto from Kenya holds a flag after winning the 41st Berlin Marathon in Berlin, Germany, Sunday, Sept. …Ethiopia's Abera Kuma a long way back in third in 2:05.56.Kimetto hails from the town of Eldoret -- a part of the country that has produced some of the most dominant distance runners in history and is emerging as the world's training capital. He was working as a farmer in an impoverished rural area before he took up running in his mid-20s, joining the training group of Geoffrey Mutai -- a Boston, Berlin and two-time New York marathon champion and the former holder of the unofficial world best, a 2:03.02 set in Boston. His first major win came in Nairobi's Half Marathon in 2011, and he went on to finish second behind his training partner Mutai in the Berlin Marathon in 2012. His 2:04.16 was the fastest marathon debut in history, and notable as he is one of a new breed of Kenyan road racers who do not have a track pedigree. In 2013 he won the Tokyo Marathon, setting a course record of 2:06.50, and then the 2013 Chicago Marathon in a course record of 2:03.45 -- where he also beat Emmanuel Mutai into second place. In the women's race, Tirfi Tsegaye led an Ethiopia 1-2, winning in 2:20.18 from Feyse Tadese (2:20.27) -- failing to break the 2:20 barrier and still a way off the 2:15.25 set by Britain's Paula Radcliffe in London in 2003. Shalane Flanagan of the United Statges was third in 2:21.14, a personal best but short of the American record.

Construction work for the Downtown Line's King Albert Park MRT station. Bukit Timah residents face the worst drive to and from work in the city centre, a survey has found. Bukit Timah residents face the worst drive to and from work in the city centre, a survey has found. Drivers who leave for work between 7am and 9am spend an average of 35 minutes on congested roads, double the time it takes when the roads are clear. "It's exactly true, it's really really congested," said Bukit Timah resident Marlene Teo, 36, a dentist. "I work in town so I have to leave earlier for work and try to come back early around 6pm to beat the traffic." Residents like her blame the slow drive on extensive construction work and a concentration of schools in the area. TomTom, the world's leading provider of in-car location and navigation products and services, today released its second study on travel times to and from 15 Singapore suburbs during peak-hour traffic. Bukit Timah topped the charts as the overall worst suburb for the peak-hour commute, replacing Clementi and Tampines, which took "line honors" for both morning and afternoon peak-hour commutes, in TomTom's first study two years ago. In a comparison of peak and off-peak travel times, Bukit Timah recorded a 111 per cent increase in travel times in the mornings and a 97 per cent increase in evening travel times*. In the latest study this year, Clementi featured as the 2nd worst suburb for the morning commute, with a 97 per cent increase in travel time during peak-hours compared to free flow traffic, extending its position as one of Singapore's most congested suburbs during peak-hour since the pioneer study was published in 2010. It was ranked as the 3rd worst suburb for evening commute with a 93 per cent increase in travel time. Two years ago, Tampines ranked the worst for morning commute, but has improved this year to rank 10th worst for morning commute. The eastern suburb, previously ranked the best for evening commute, has now been relegated to the 6th worst for evening commute in the latest study. The drop in ranking for evening commute could be due to a variety of factors such as changing driving patterns and road developments in the area. If the parking attendant is 100m away.. and headed ur way.. My lot in question is just outside bukit timah shopping center, parallel lots by the road. I saw the parking attendant and thought: DAMN! now do i wait until she passes, assuming she comes my way, or just chiong up n take the risk? actually, it was a blessing in disguise. I was actually leaving the car when I saw her. decided to tear off 50c. reason being that if she see me waiting in the car, she might know i'm waiting for her to pass or make me tear coupon anyway. i probably escaped a 50 dollar (or whatever amount that offence is worth) fine today btw, the cheque was for a maid agency on the 3rd floor. i took my own sweet time, and was done in less than 10 min. if i chiong up, 5 min max

Dear Forumers, Since there are so many automated HDB carparks lately and all got 10 mins grace, do we actually have to put coupons if we park at a non-automated one for less than 10 mins? Anybody knows?

Hi, Need some urgent help here. I have never encountered this before. Just topped up my tank an hour ago by a pump attendant. He alerted me to petrol gushing out from bottom of tank. I took a peep and indeed I could see petrol flowing out, mind you not dripping ok. It stopping flowing/leaking after about 1-2 mins. I took at a look at the meter and it says 60 litres. There is no sign of overflowing from the top-up point. Knowing the tank capacity is 55 l or so, I only expected the overflow if any, to come from the top-up point if indeed it is over-topping. Has anyone encounter this before? Most people I asked said it should not happen. Some say there is an overflow line built-in the tank. I am very concerned about this problem. Can anyone shed some light into this? Thanks

Read the below article in Asia One...are people really so niave? They are highly mobile but prefer to relocate than travel 45 mins to work! doesnt make sense? plus commuting time in Europe is on average probably far longer than in Singapore...who write these stupid articles? S'poreans prefer to relocate than travel 45 mins to work WORKERS in Singapore will grumble if they have to commute some distance to work, but they will readily pack their bags and fly to the ends of the earth for the right job, according to a poll by Kelly Services. Two in three of more than 2,000 employees here polled by the recruitment firm said they were not prepared to commute more than 45 minutes each way to work, The Business Times reported yesterday. Nearly eight in 10 of those polled would consider relocating to another country to work. This shows that despite their reluctance to spend more time commuting, Singapore workers are highly mobile when it comes to securing the right job. More than half - 56 per cent - of the workers polled were even ready to uproot and move to unfamiliar territories where they don't speak the local lingo. 'With a more globalised workforce, there is increasingly a recognition that people may have to relocate to find the right work, or to advance their career,' saidMr Dhirendra Shantilal, Kelly's senior vice-president for Asia-Pacific. 'There are many skills that are easily transferable across borders, including in areas such as banking and finance, IT, science and engineering.' Those willing to move, not surprisingly, are in the younger age group of 25 to 34. 'Typically, they have fewer family and other commitments that prevent them from relocating,' said Kelly Services. 'Males were more willing to relocate than females.' It added that 'family' was the overwhelming issue when workers polled were asked to rank the main obstacles for them to work overseas, with 72 per cent citing it as a factor. Other factors were language barriers (49 per cent), children's education (27 per cent), tax complications (24 per cent), property ownership (20 per cent) and pension/super-annuation rights (14 per cent). 'The finding that many workers are willing to be highly mobile in their search for work is good news for employers,' Kelly said. 'At a time of relative skills shortage, globally, targeting employees from another city or internationally can be one of the most effective ways of filling gaps in the labour market.' Some 13 per cent of the workers polled said that they had already relocated to a country where they did not speak the language to find the right job.
