  1. The sun is rising from the west? Will foresee a lot of nonsense coming up just before the next GE, and let see how our various ministries handle them. 😅 Source: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/spore-exploring-petition-platform-where-10000-signatures-guarantee-ministry-response SINGAPORE - Singaporeans may soon get a new avenue to voice their concerns through a platform where petitions that garner 10,000 supporters will be submitted to the relevant ministries for review. A prototype of the platform, known as PetitionsSG, has been up since January this year. Currently, petitions can be started and processed on the site, but nothing will be sent to the Government. Senior software engineer Alwyn Tan at Open Government Products - the platform's developer - said in response to queries from The Straits Times that PetitionSG was created with the goal of empowering citizens to push for change and to connect the most important sentiments from the ground to ministries. He was one of a team of five who worked on the project. Open Government Products is an experimental development team within the GovTech which works on technology for the public sectors.
  2. Not sure what the ministry is doing, how come it seem like they are giving conflicting facts ? According to the official FAQ on FDWL and the budget 2012... http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...fault.aspx#levy The $95 concessionary levy is only applicable to family with elderly. And does not apply to households young children under 12 years or disabled members. Also $120 grant does not apply to such household that may have problem giving / paying dfwl this extra rest days. This is in conflict with the press release by the ministry yesterday, with regards to the rest day. http://www.mom.gov.sg/newsroom/Pages/Press...aspx?listid=411 So what is the correct ? does this means that instead of offering help... they are adding to burden of young families ?
  3. KNN I am wondering which ministry is responsible in reviewing the up and up sky high motor insurance. Nah Bei, I accident free for the past donkey years also have to suffer paying more premiums nowadays. This is a sore point which perhaps our opposition can used to voice out for us!
  4. For LITE & EASY TCSS discussion only. Which govt ministry do you think is the easiest to run? What about the hardest? If given a choice, which ministry would you want to take charge of? I am guessing the easiest to run may be Mindef. On paper this is an important ministry but in reality things are quite peaceful with our neighbours. In the event of national incidents, our first line of defence is probably MFA anyway. So running Mindef is quite routine, just making sure people enlist or take IPPT on time, then buy some new toys for NDP. Toughest is more difficult to say. MOF can cause economic downturn with the wrong policy. Sometimes you even get sabo by kayu neighbours. Transport ministry deal with problems on a daily basis but solutions take years to implement. National Development is the same case as transport. Given a choice, Ministry of No Portfolio sounds nice.
