  1. Today is the last day of Bukit Merah Library. I have a lot of fond memories of this library as I spent my childhood there. I remember a few forum members used to grow up around Redhill, Henderson and Bukit Merah areas. Want to catch up later there? @Angcheek, @Mustank and those I left out? Text me if you going.

  3. While some of us who are working from home can stay in bed longer in this cool weather, others who have to go into the office had to brave the thunderstorm this morning (23 June 2020). Certain parts of Singapore experienced flash floods and there were plenty of videos and photos being shared around. For those who hasn't seen any of those, here are some of the 'highlights' from SG Road Vigilante and other sources. The Tanah Merah/Bedok area seemed to have had it especially bad. We were impressed most of the traffic still continued on their way despite the flood water at Upper Changi Rd. It is believed that it gotten deeper and a few cars ended up stranded soon after. af509655-736f-4915-b2d6-be4f95587fd7.MP4 Jurong East also had some issues with the flash flood too.
  4. Hey Folks, I work at Bt Merah (Jln Kilang) to be precise and when i asked Building Management for season parking they said that no more allocation for the unit as our office size is not too large to give out additional. Parking around the area is not too cheap - it all comes out to be around 7-9 bucks per day. I'm wondering if any of you might know of any hidden places around the hood. Let me know.. TIA
  5. Elderly residents in Bukit Merah View can now stroll around with greater ease of mind due to enhanced road safety measures. The estate is the first of five to benefit from the Land Transport Authority's Silver Zone programme, which aims to make roads safer for elderly pedestrians. Features like enlarged centre dividers that allow for two-stage crossing are introduced. The speed limit in such zones has also been reduced to 40kmh wherever possible. Cars entering Silver Zones will see signs informing them of such zones, along with three rumble strips on the road to inform motorists to slow down. Other traffic features aimed at slowing down traffic, like chicanes - gentle curves along sections of roads - and lanes with reduced width have also been installed to ensure that cars do not speed along roads with high senior use. Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Health Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said at the launch event on Saturday that seniors are "over-represented" in traffic accidents, and that the situation must be improved. He noted that 40 per cent of all pedestrian fatalities and 20 per cent of pedestrian injuries involved seniors. Dr Faishal, however, cautioned that road safety does not end with these silver zones and that road safety is the "shared responsibility" of all road users. The Silver Zones in Jurong West, Yishun and Bedok will be completed by the first quarter of 2015, and Marine Parade by first quarter of 2016. The five estates were chosen for their high senior population and relatively higher accident rates involving seniors. 6. Today an accident occurred in front of me. I did not witness the collision as my eyes were not looking in front at the specific moment. Heard tires screeching, bang, looked up and saw the post dragging of the 2 cars. Taxi uncle was pointing his finger furiously, seemingly angry at the carelessness of the avante driver. I believe there were no serious injury involved and continued my way. (Youtube disabled the audio due to the songs playing from my radio)

  20. to the driver of SDM 91XX X black merc S300 around 1.15pm today 26/1/08 thank you for showing me what is means of being a "safe driver" yes. i was that sliver toyota wish on lane 2 along ecp towards jln bukit merah. i guess you where too used to driving a jap car that u forgot that ur signal control was on your left and not your right. or maybe your signal light fused. being just on my right. you showed me that even a merc can change lane from 1st lane to 2nd lane with less then half a car length. it really makes me realise that you are paying so much for a merc as it can change lane with such a small gap. although there was no car in front of me nor on lane 3. thank you for letting me test my E BRAKE and ABS on my stock wish by swerving to the left. wow! i suppose that you were in a rush as u dint bother to apologise by waving ur hand at me. to everyone else. i just learned a lesson from this elite today. and yes i know that you were definately going more den 110 kmh as i was going at 100. nice car!
