  2. Hello peeps, anyone here looking to buy oversea property? Or anyone buying 1 in Melbourne? I am looking to get one apartment and im looking at Melbourne as it is more of a safe haven to invest in IMO. The price is pretty steep, capital growth is not that fantastic but in long term holding, I think it should be an uptrend. Anyone has any advice of getting one in Docklands area? Is it overpriced? This one looks like it is just beside CBD wor. Any expert here with advice? https://investoprop.com/melbourne-cbd-apartments-for-sale/ This is one is the one in Docklands. https://investoprop.com/new-developments-projects-melbourne-southbank/ And this one in Southbank.
  3. Couple of weeks ago, took a 2 week holiday to Melbourne. Loved it lots. While on holiday, we also did a 5 day Great Ocean Road/Mornington Peninsula Road trip. Car we rented was a Nissan Pathfinder, 3.5L V6 (also found in the 350Z / G35 skyline) mated with a CVT. Road trip day 1 > Started out in Melbourne CBD (Southbank airbnb), after breakfast. > Short stops to view sights at Torquay, Angelsea, Aireys Inlet > Lunch at Lorne > Erskine Falls > Short stops to look for Koalas at Kennett River Holiday Park > Airbnb at Apollo Bay (& dinner) Road trip day 2 > Airbnb at Apollo Bay (breakfast at Hello cafe) > Maits Rest rainforest walk > Cape Otway lightstation > Gibson Steps > 12 Apostles > Loch Ard Gorge > Port Campbell for lunch > London Bridge > Bay of Islands > Camped at London Bridge for 1 hr after sunset (in the bitter cold) to look at penguins but nothing in sight! > High tailed it back to Apollo Bay for dinner before the PUB kitchen closes at 9pm (made it at 830!)
  4. Hi fellows! I am taking a trip to Sydney in Oct and probably crossing over to Melbourne during the course. For those who have been to the above, do highlight the things, foods, places there are Must-Do over there. Your opinions and suggestions are most valued, and thank you in advance!! :)
  5. Whilst on holiday in Melbourne (loved it!), i took a short trip over to Dutton Garage when i had a day to myself. It was well worth the time. 6. Hi people. I'm planning a family holiday in Australia month; a week in Melbourne & Adelaide. Has anyone got any experience spending time in Mel then, slow easy drive into Adelaide? Any good recommendation for service apartment, tourist sites and car rental? I'm planning maybe 4 days in Mel, 3 days in Adel. Thanks for your kind sharing
  7. Planning a road trip from Syndey to Melbourne this coming June. High level plan is as follows: - touch down at Syndey, rent a MPV there (since we have 2 families with kids); - spend 2~3 days around Syndey, including Blue Mountain national park; - drive to Melbourne via the coastal route (or the inland route, haven't really decided as unsure about pros & cons); - Spend 2~3 days around Melbourne and Phillips Island; - drive through the Great Ocean Road and back to Melbourne - fly back to Syndey from Melbourne or drive via the other route (e.g. if coastal route from Syndey to Melbourne, then inland route back, and vice versa) Total duration is 9 days. A few questions that I appreciate suggestion/comments from any bros: 1) if I drive down the coastal route from Syndey to Melbourne, is it still worth driving through the Great Ocean road? Scenery wise it will be similiar I guess? 2) Which route, coastal or inland, is more interesting between Syndey and Melbourne? 3) Is there any place along the way that can't be missed? Thanks for any feedback.
  8. For those Bro whom are familiar with Melbourne, which neighbourhood would you choose to stay for long term?
  9. The V8 Supercars Championship is a touring car racing event that takes place in Australia and some of the races are held overseas. Currently, only Ford and Holden participate in the championship. But come 2013, Japanese automaker giant Nissan will take part in the abovementioned event. Nissan is the first auto manufacturer to be included in the sport under the Cars of the Future plan. The Cars of the Future was conjured up in 2010 to make the racing series more affordable for existing racing teams and also pave way for the inclusion of other manufacturers. The news of Nissan participating in the racing series was announced on 09 February 2012 in Melbourne and the Japanese automaker will start racing in the series in the 2013 season. The racing team, Kelly Racing has signed with Nissan to become the company
  10. Hi all.. my first new thread in the new interface MCF I'm thinking of doing a self-drive from Adelaide to Melbourne some time in Feb, and would like to ask some questions. The very rough plan is to drive from adelaide to melbourne over 5-6 days. Do sightseeing along GOR (sightseeing anywhere and everywhere lah) for about 2 days, then arrive at melbourne and maybe visit philip island. is that too ambitious? I'm thinking the total distance will be about 1000kms. I'm ok with long distance road trips, having done SG to penang, penang to SG a few times and stopping just for food/petrol/pee. of course, aussie driving conditions are different. i expect (i may be mistaken though) stricter enforcement of speed limits, lower speed limits, less petrol kiosk in between, and curvier roads. also, i don't plan to do more than 300km in any one day. probably will drive and stop whenever we feel like it. However, only one driver, and that's me. my wife is an OK co-driver in the sense that she stays awake, talks to me and helps look out for stuff. But she's hopeless with maps is it possible to rent a car from adelaide and return it at melbourne? based on the air fares, it seems best to go from adelaide to melbourne and not the other way around. alternatively, is it better to just start from melbourne and do GOR both ways? the air fare would be even cheaper cos return flight from SG to melbourne. but i prefer the idea of a journey from A-B rather than a loop. i'm open to suggestions. been reading some articles online but nothing beats feedback from fellow forumers who have been there and done that. Admin and immigration issues... besides applying for the australia ETA online, nothing else right? are non-biometric passports allowed for travel down under?
  11. I'll be there for a few days starting Wed, I wonder if there is any MCFer currently in Melbourne. Been a while since i last visit the place, the last time i was there, had a few drinks with Elfenstar.
  12. anyone received fine by air mail? to pay or not to pay?
  13. folks, i was thinking of getting a used GPS equipped with Aussie maps for Perth and Melbourne.. any idea where can i get one of this? or how much does it cost for this map..
  14. Bros, I have to be in Melbourne for a period of 3-5 months next year. Unfortunately Singapore does not have an agreement with Australia for work and travel visas. I was wondering if anyone here has some ways of bypassing that problem while on a tourist visa.
  15. It would seem that the only good time Lewis Hamilton had at the Australian Grand Prix was when he was actually smoking the tires of his loaner Mercedes C63 AMG on the open road. Once the burnout was complete, the wheels came off and Hamilton got nicked by the police under Melbourne's anti-hoon laws. The Police had the car impounded. Lewis has been officially charged by a Melbourne court with intentionally losing control of a vehicle. A summons for a court date of August 24 was given to his Australian solicitor but with the Belgian Grand Prix taking place on August 29, the chance of his appearing on that date seems slim. If nothing else, charging a former Formula 1 world champion and a Swiss resident to boot is the best lesson to every non-world-champion out there who plans to visit Melbourne: Do Not Hoon ! This is not the first (probably not the last too) time Lewis got into trouble with the law. The Brit also had some problems with the law in France back in 2007 after he was caught speeding on a local highway with a Mercedes CLK.

  17. Just attended the show last weekend and took some pics ... I am a Audi fan so they are all Audi cars including the Lambo Gayllado. The new Audi grill design on the Novalari which also appears on the new A6 actually looks quite good and sporty. I think the new A6 will definately impress in real metal. The new A3 looks good from the front but the back is disappointing. The A3 design is too conservative but then the interior is top class though.
