Just purchased my mark x not too long ago... was reading online and realise that mark x beside standard oil change need to change rear axle oil... asked ex owner and he say he nv do that before. he also told me that his spark plug not changed since day 1 as can last 100k. Current milage is 115k. No wonder the car is very sluggish... now i thinking he prolly skip many other required maintenance for mark x... Was wondering any fellow X owner here can enlighten me and the estimation for the cost so that wont kana chop carrot. Thanks!

Toyota reveals Mark X Final edition as production ends in December
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
The Mark X and its predecessor Mark II, has been on sale for over 50 years but with the decrease in demand for sedans, they have become irrelevant. Production is set to end in December and Toyota is sending off its domestic market sports sedan with the Mark X Final Edition. 250S and 250S Four. Available in 250S (rear-wheel drive) and 250S Four (all-wheel drive), the car makes 200bhp and 243Nm of torque from its naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre V6 engine. As a special edition, the car will have been equipped with additional features that set it apart from the rest of the range. On the outside, it has 18-inch dual-spoke alloy wheels that have been painted with 'Sputtering Coating', a different bumper with new garnish and the option of three colours for the body: White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic and Precious Black Pearl. Inside, the seats have been treated with a mix of black and red alcantara/leather upholstery while red contrast stitching can be found on the steering wheel, gear knob, doors and armrest. -

I planning to upgrade my rim size to 19" ( frm 18 ) kana sot by the vossen cv3 chrome rim, getting the replica 1 as only replica avail in 19 and original 1 shld be kan pua expensive lol. Any recommended tyres for street driving with good wet grip? My prev car on 15/16" so popular tyres for me was toyo t1r etc, but fren told me big tyres mostly another level ( price also another level ) Was thinking to do "staggered" as car is RWD so behind put wider. heard mark X very prone to fishtail even when driving normal speed so hoping wider tyres can grip well.

After driving conti for sometime, i think i will switch back to Japanese car (used). Anyone had experience with the following: Toyota Mark X (2005 to 2011) and Nissan Teana 2.5 (previous model). The Teana is Japan made right? I don't want to buy a Thai made car. Drivers who owned these before please reply. I like to know the fuel consumption and the reliability of these vehicles.

Do u guys think its a good idea to buy a 06-08 mark X? After hearing my fren bad experience with his 2nd hand 5 series, im kinda afraid of buying cars tats older than 6 years old. But i heard mark x dun have much issues, maybe standard wear and tear items. Is servicing and replacement of wear and tear higher than normal cars? Im driving a SSS at the moment and everything is pretty cheap. I also heard that mark x is very accident prone, as the car tend to fishtail due to rwd. I always drive my dad's merc around ( also rwd ) and i think the car is still pretty safe to corner etc, however i read around the forums and people are saying that mark x handling is very bad. anyone with experience driving 1 can enlighten me? What is fc like? im guessing 10-11km/hr? I does about 80% highway every day. Last questions, just asking purely for fun, how come never heard of people lup a bolt on turbo onto a mark X? i can imagine the power it could generate...

Gazoo Racing revealed its GRMN Mark X concept at the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon. Based on the Toyota Mark X, GRMN gave its handsome sedan a chunkier front bumper, a redesigned rear bumper with diffusers, revised side skirts and a rear lip spoiler. Completing the aggressive look is the new enhanced dual exhaust system, 19-inch aluminium wheels wearing Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres. Mechanically, this Mark X uses a 3.5-litre V6 that produces more than 320hp and 380Nm of torque and is linked to a six-speed manual transmission. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential. It is also said there are improvements made in the suspension and braking department. All these specifications sure point to a decent foundation for building a drift car. While the GRMN Mark X concept is not on sale yet, you could buy Toyota’s G sports Mark X which is available to buyers in Japan. Also aggressively styled, it has different bumpers and wheels as compared to the normal Mark X. We especially love the LED running headlights, new sports exhaust with quad exhaust and 19-inch wheels. The car has been also lowered 20mm with the help of a new sports suspension. The interior has also been spruced up with white gauges, black sports seats with red stitching and some carbon fibre trimmings. As with the regular Mark X, the car can only be had in a six-speed automatic transmission and is paired with either a 2.5-litre or 3.5-litre V6 which it shares with the Lexus GS saloon.

Toyota Mark X Concept receives carbon fibre treatment
FaezClutchless posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Many carbon fibre parts were used to build the Lexus LFA and because of this, Toyota has pumped in a significant amount of money on carbon fibre manufacturing. This was done to reduce the costs of producing carbon fibre parts. After the last Lexus LFA rolled out of its production facility in December last year, the company had no other use for the lightweight material in a production model. So, what will happen to the carbon fibre facility that they have? Instead of shutting it down, Toyota will introduce future models with carbon fibre components. Toyota has unveiled a concept model at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon and the car receives a carbon fibre roof. The vehicle is a Mark X and it is named the Toyota Mark X G Sport Concept. The carbon fibre material replaces the steel roof and it reduces 5.8kg off the overall weight. It also lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity by an eighth of an inch. Although this may not sound like much to some people, but every little measure count. And this may also be the beginning of more usage of carbon fibre parts in the car which, in a way, helps to improve performance. Toyota did not reveal whether they will include the carbon fibre roof into the production version of the Mark X G Sport or if the concept is a one-off creation just for the auto show. Whatever the company decides on, I feel that only the premium grade models will get the carbon fibre treatment as it is an expensive material to manufacture.- 2 comments
