  2. NGL, no one likes it when another driver attempts to squeeze past your parked car for fear of getting damaged. However, it is a whole different story if you "parked" your car like an inconsiderate driver like this elderly woman: What Happened? An elderly lady decided to park her Toyota Yaris Cross aCROSS two lanes at the pickup/drop-off point of Marina Bay Sands. After that, she opens her car door and proceeds to alight from the SUV. Just then, the cam car driver that approached from behind attempted to squeeze past her Toyota SUV and a stationary Lexus. And for some reason, the elderly lady 'explodes' at the cam car by shouting and gesturing at him to stop sternly. She subsequently reached out for her footwear and seemed like she was gonna use it to smack the cam car. But it turns out she bent down to pick up her mask that fell on the ground when she opened her car door LOL. TBH, considering that she parked her car at a pickup/drop-off point and across two lanes, does she need to be so aggressive towards another motorist trying to navigate his way around the inconvenience she caused? Netizens' Comments OOF. Shots fired! She really parked her car + open her car door as if MBS is owned by her. That makes the both of us LOL. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. SINGAPORE - Las Vegas Sands (LVS) said its US$3.3 billion (S$4.45 billion) expansion of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is on track to complete in 2026, a year after its 2025 deadline, as the casino giant bets on a recovery in tourism. At the US company's 2021 fourth quarter results briefing on Wednesday (Jan 26), LVS chairman and chief executive Robert Goldstein also said that renovation work totalling US$1 billion (S$1.35 billion) at MBS' hotel properties is under way. The update comes after Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan noted in Parliament on Jan 10 that the extent of delays to the expansion of Singapore's two integrated resorts (IRs) remains unclear. Mr Tan said MBS and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) had both flagged potential delays due to disruptions to the construction industry as a result of the pandemic. In its third quarter results briefing last year, LVS had stated that its target for completion of the MBS expansion was 2025. This is now on track for 2026, according to LVS. In spite of labour and supply chain risks, images show that construction at MBS has been "moving at a very good pace", Mr Goldstein said. The two IRs had announced expansion plans totalling $9 billion in 2019. These include adding a fourth tower consisting of a 1,000-room luxury hotel and a 15,000 -seat entertainment arena to the MBS development. Rival RWS will add two new zones to Universal Studios Singapore - Minion Park and Super Nintendo World - as well as a new oceanarium. The US$1 billion MBS renovation project, which will bring "luxurious (hotel) suite products" to Towers One and Two, will "significantly enhance our appeal to premium clients", Mr Goldstein said. These upgrades are expected to be completed in phases between this year and next. LVS chief operating officer Patrick Dumont added that the company has been working with the Singapore Tourism Board on its focus on high quality tourism. "We think MBS is leader in that area and want to reinvest in the property while we have some downtime." The developments also underscore a growing confidence of a pickup in Singapore tourism from this year onwards as travel impediments and other Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed. Mr Goldstein said the group is hopeful of "a big bounce" in demand once vaccinated travel lanes (VTLs) are "fully open". He noted that the increase in non-Singaporean visitors to MBS was "evident" after VTLs between the Republic and countries like Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea were launched in November and December last year. In a Jan 27 report, analysts Vincent Khoo and Jack Goh of brokerage UOB Kay Hian noted that VTLs to and from Singapore will allow its gaming industry "to see meaningful international footfall recovery, which will subsequently lift its gross gaming revenue prospects". During the fourth quarter of last year, MBS' adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) rose 23 per cent year on year to US$177 million. This was achieved on revenues of US$368 million, up 6.7 per cent in the same period. UOB Kay Hian is expecting a "similarly solid quarter" from Genting Singapore, which owns RWS, when the company announces its results on Feb 17.
  4. *Disclaimer: The conversation below is satire, written for entertainment purposes only.* Here's how it all went down: What happened? A ComfortDelGro taxi was spotted driving on the pavement in the vicinity of MBS and the ArtScience Museum. This puzzling incident drew the attention of many onlookers, who were curiously staring at the taxi as he navigated his way around the area. WHUTTTT... Taxi drivers may have developed a notorious reputation for being improper and reckless road users over the years. This incident has just added one more to this list – RIDICULOUS. Seriously though. No matter how bad of a driver one is, how on Earth can someone even end up driving along the pavement outside of a shopping mall/Museum??? Is this a case of GPS misguidance, or did the taxi driver happen to navigate his way up the pavement after getting lost? I guess this incident unveils a flaw in MBS' signage and security framework. Netizens' Comments What a bunch of savage comments, the person filming wasn't spared either. I LOL-ED at this comment. If you didn't get it, its related to the cycling craze where people started "drawing" animals on Strava (GPS-based Application) as they cycled around Singapore. Maybe can consider upgrading to the Hyundai Kona Electric SUV – Off-road capability + Reduced carbon emissions. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 5. The retail store is a “first of its kind” all-glass dome structure and boasts Apple's first underwater boardroom. And its architecture was partly inspired by Rome's Pantheon. When Apple Marina Bay Sands opens its doors to the public on Thursday (Sep 10), it will be the world’s first Apple store to sit directly on the water – an eye-catching spherical structure that will boast an uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic view of Singapore’s skyline. It’s an architectural treat of sorts – the dome was inspired by Rome's Pantheon, for one. And according to Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president for retail and people, this “first of its kind” all-glass dome structure comprises 114 pieces of glass, with only 10 narrow vertical mullions serving as a structural connection. But more than just bragging rights for local fanboys and fangirls, Apple’s decision to to do it here is an affirmation of the tech giant’s affinity for Singapore. “We're here for the long term in Singapore,” O’Brien said in an exclusive interview with CNA Lifestyle. “We couldn't be more excited to open the breathtaking Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, building on our commitment to this special place that began over 40 years ago”. It is Singapore's third Apple Store, after the first one opened its doors along Orchard Road in 2017 and its most recent one at Jewel Changi Airport. It’s also Apple's 512th retail shop. Apple’s history in Singapore began with the tech giant’s first corporate office in Ang Mo Kio 40 years ago – and there’s a fun fact that comes with that. In 1981, the team was responsible for producing the majority of printed circuit boards for Apple II computers worldwide. Since then, Apple has expanded across the corporate and retail side, and is now responsible for 55,000 jobs in Singapore, between Apple and the Apple ecosystem. For those who keep count, Apple Marina Bay Sands will be staffed with 148 employees who collectively speak over 23 languages. When asked why open this particularly designed store here, O'Brien said: "When we were looking for another opportunity in Singapore. This one was just really was quite intriguing. And when we really understood the opportunities that this location could provide, giving us the opportunity to do something really neat and interesting and different." So what’s the interior like? Aside from the oculus at the top of the dome, which allows light to come in, the interior of the glass is lined with custom baffles, which are shaped to counter the daytime glare and provide a night-time lighting effect. There are also 10 trees along the perimeter, providing additional shading and soft shadows through the foliage. The Forum is centered around the video wall, which will serve as the stage for Singapore’s musicians and creatives. In addition to free future Today At Apple sessions hosted by Apple creatives. Entrepreneurs and developers who are interested in receiving training and advice can meet with Apple team members in the company’s first underwater Boardroom, located on the first basement of the store. Given the current global pandemic, Apple Marina Bay Sands will still be implementing the same rigorous health and safety measures for both employees and visitors and across all Apple retail locations including a mask requirement, temperature checks and social distancing. Visits to Apple Marina Bay Sands on opening day will be by appointment only, while walk-ins will be allowed from Friday onwards. Customers can visit https://www.apple.com/Singapore/marinbaysands for available times.

  7. BMW is one of the co-sponsor of the SCMS 2011. As a participant, I went down to Marina Bay Sands to collect my race entry pack. The BMW booth was beaming with activities. Among many others, there were video games and a board game whereby the participant has to maneuver a table tennis ball within a restricted path. BMW staffs were also distributing balloons to the visitors. However, what I appreciate most is the race gift pack that BMW has prepared for all runners who had registered with Team BMW. Although I am a registered runner, I was unable to join them for their training runs due to time constraint. However, I was still entitled to the gift pack. (By the way, I was still serviced with a smile although I was wearing a Volkswagen Group Polo T.) Allow me to commend on the box prior to the contents. The box was constructed with the same high standard as the BMW automobiles. It comes with a slit that allows the box to be opened side way but at the same time has a built-in stopper that prevents the inner box from being removed completely. The design is quite thoughtful and reminds me of a mooncake container. The box contains a cap, wrist band, race belt and the best of all, a dri-fit T shirt. A generous gift pack from the German automaker indeed. BMW also distributed postcards to the runners to keep them informed of another upcoming BMW event, which is held from 12 to 18 Dec 11 at Suntec Singapore. Titled

    BMW World 2010

The BMW World isn't just a showcase for their latest model line-up. It's also a celebration of their past success in the automotive industry as well as providing the visitor an insight into their future. On display are a slew of the latest 5-series as well as the rather special looking 5-series GT. BMW also took the opportunity to launch the all new X3 at the event in front of the local media. The body design of the new BMW X3 conveys urban elegance and versatile agility. The combination of a flat front end and a high rear end produces, when viewed from the side, a dynamically formed wedge shape, indicating the vehicle's sporting characteristics. The convex and concave surfaces are accentuated by distinctive lines. Not forgetting BMW's own thrill-inducing products, there was a strong representation of the brand's motorsports division. On hand were the latest E92 M3 fitted with the competition package. Other 'M' representatives includes the X5M and X6M. The star of the show though was the M3 GTS making its first appearance in Asia. Besides the cars, the event includes many other entertaining activities that would persuade Dads to make it an outing for the little tikes as well. BMW has chosen an intriguing layout for the exhibition that keeps things interesting for the visitor. You will find many nooks and crannies that hide other fun activities behind their walls. Look out for the BMW GINA Light Visionary Model, a car completely clad in a flexible fabric skin, an optical expression of creative freedom to revolutionize the way we think about automobiles.
