  1. Anyone have tried 0W-40 engine oil? any positive feedback?
  2. saw this at NTUC XTRA ...........stated as fully synthetic and from the label seem to meet many standards...........and looks like very reasonable for a fully synthetic ATF..............any bros here tired this before???

  4. Hi, Any Ford Focus Owners using cxx xxxe Brand oil for their rides? I dont think there should be any issue at all since branded oils are just that - branded. But since our cars tend to have longer service intervals - I just want to make sure from a user point of view? BTW, I got really pissed off at Regent Motors today after I found out they only open for half day on weekends now!! And the earliest half day weekend appointment slot is 6 weeks away!!! Talk about sxxt Aftersales car care. These guys dun give a flying fxxk about providing accessible and convenient car car service at all.
  5. Any of the bros here ever used or heard of "US Lube" engine oil? If so, can provide some info? Thanks.
  6. Hi, I wonder any members have ever use the lubricant offer by NTUC at AMK Hub. Its comes in a 5 liters pack and the brand name is C**L*be, 10W30 for a price of $19.90. So tempted to buy last evening but KIV to hear from fellows members on the product. Your input is very much appreciated. Thks.
  7. http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/7528/ca...toroil5ljg2.jpg Looking at the above specs, I am unsure if cxx xxxe synthetic engine oil is suitable for local tropical use? It does not have the requirements of API SJ.
  8. OK I was at Xtra at AMK today. Went to the automotive section and saw Coughlube selling there. The 10W30 mineral oil is going for 29.90 The 5W30 blend is going for 39.90 Now here is the funny part. Somebody better tell the folks at Xtra to do more research. Coughlube 5W40 now appears in two forms. The long tall slim bottle and the familiar curvvy bottle. The long tall slim bottle is going for 39.90 and the curvvy bottle is going for 43.xx. All volumes are 5L. The difference is the curvvy bottle says FULLY SYNTHETIC and the long tall slim bottle has no such words.....AH! I get it! FULLY SYNTHETIC = PAY MORE! Both bottles say Tetrosyl on it. They are both the same oil at the same grade at 5W40.
  9. http://www.usace.army.mil/publications/eng.../em1110-2-1424/ OK this is where I read up as my text book ages ago. It might sound cheem but the US military are good at writing manuals unlike GM. I'm sure anyone can understand since this is a manual for their technicians. Download everything if you want. It is free. Check out Chapter 2: Lubrication Principles http://www.usace.army.mil/publications/eng...-2-1424/c-2.pdf In particular check out Hydrodynamic lubrication which is basically the lubrication state in our car engines. Their analogy of the boat in water and layers of lubrication analogy from a deck of cards is spot on. Read why Boundary Lubrication is needed for an engine that is dead and cold in the morning. This explains why a certain lube company proudly says "90% of engine wear occurs at start up." Have the basics of the role of Antiwear (AW) additives in the area of Boundary Layer Lubrication. Finally, read about extreme pressure additives. Unlike someone here with intricate knowledge of engines and likes to blow people away by branding them goondu and CMI, I'll leave everyone here with my "textbook" and have a chance of being an expert through your own education. BTW, if anyone is interested in other engineering subjects and would like to improve yourself through self-education but not necessarily receive paper qualifications at the end of it all, they have many engineering "textbooks". See link: http://www.usace.army.mil/publications/eng-manuals/em.htm
  10. Like to share a bad experience I had. For the whole of last week, I detected my oil pressure indicator lighting up on a few of occasions. Since it was just a few day more before my next servicing and the indicator light didn't come on permanently, I didn't pay much attention to it since the engine temp was normal and the engine didn't behave abnomally. I just thought that that the oil level could be a bit lower. After knocking off from work on Fri, I checked the dipstick and found to my horror that the oil level was way below the minimum. I drove over to Stamford Tyres which is a few blocks away from my work place to top up the oil and check for any obvious leakage. To my horror, it took almost 3 litres of lube oil to get it up to an acceptable level which incidentally has a capacity is 3.6 litres. No evidence of leakage was also detected. After drving home, I made another check myself below my vehicle and found a very small puncture from the oil filter which was damaged by the tightening tool. On Sat, I drove to the workshop, Jxxxsxxxd and complained to them about the sloppy job that they did for my previous servicing. For this servicing, I had no choice but to follow them every step of the way to ensure there would not be another repeated incident and to make sure that they actually used the oil that I brought myself.
  11. http://www.pecj.or.jp/japanese/report/e-report/01M445e.pdf Even Toyota now recommends xW20 oil.
  12. Hi, just happen to come across this website about this oil http://www.x-lube.com any comments or knowledge about this oil? I think Spore has local agent for this. (I'm not promoting or earning anything from this)
  13. I did a gear box oil change with Amsoil Synthetic Gear Lube today and I didn't expect the shift could be so smooth. Although it is not cheap at $20 a quart (requires 2.5 quarts), i believe it'll last as long as my car could last.. Oh yes, thanks DH for supplying the gear lube and engine oil.
  14. unbelievable price! if i had need to serivce car, i would have stock up cxx xxxe
