  5. The original 911 was revealed to press and public at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 901. 50 years have since passed. To commemorate its golden anniversary, Porsche has created a limited edition 911 Carrera S and only 1,963 units will be built. Set for a world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the '911 50' will be available in two unique colors - the darker Graphite Grey and a lighter Geyser Grey metallic. The limited edition coupe is 44mm broader across the rear wheel arches, a feature typically reserved for AWD Carrera 4 models. Other exterior updates include a '911 50' badge on the rear lid, chromed window frames, SportDesign side mirrors and new 20-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, '911 50' logos can be found on the rev counter, headrests and door sill plates. There are styling touches reminiscent of the original 911 such as green labelling on the instruments with white pointer needles and silver caps on the instrument pivot pins. The fabric pattern on the center section of the leather sports seats seemed like a blast from the 1960s 'Pepita' tartan design. Powered by a 400bhp 3.8-litre flat-six engine, the '911 50' edition with PDK transmission sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 298km/h. The coupe is equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) to compensate for the wider rear body and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with rear limited slip differential.
  6. There is a new gentleman in France, and a fast one. This gentleman runs on four wheels instead of two feet. The heart of this man is a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine which pumps out 542bhp. We are talking about the GT-R Gentleman Edition which Nissan has offered specifically for sale in France. Only 10 units will be built. Based on the GT-R Black Edition, the Gentleman Edition is available only in Gunmetal Grey. The limited edition GT-R is distinguished by a pair of 'Gentleman Edition' badging located at the front fender vents. On the inside, the super car gets amber red leather upholstery and an individually-numbered titanium plaque. The leather-stitched steering wheel, gear stick and dashboard receive a sporty two-tone treatment. Gentlemen, start your engine!
  7. Peugeot has introduced a limited production RCZ Magnetic Edition for the U.K. market. Only 170 examples will be built. When I read the name "Magnetic Edition", I thought the RCZ will come equipped with some magnetic suspension. Apparently, I was wrong as the updates are cosmetic in nature. The RCZ Magnetic Edition will be offered in exclusive Pearlescent Pearl White or Metallic Nera Black. Other exterior revisions include matte black roof arches and black grille. The sexy coupe wears 19-inch Sortilege Wheels in Onyx Matte Black finish. Going on to the interior, this special RCZ pampers the occupants with leather sport seats. The steering gets wrapped in leather while the word "Magnetic" is engraved on the door panels. The driver can count on the Peugeot Connect Navigation System to get to his destination. Under the hood, two engines are available, namely the 1.6-litre THP with 156bhp or 200bhp and a 2.0-litre HDi diesel churning 163bhp.
  8. Following the step of its German rival, Mercedes-Benz, BMW will also launch an exclusive 5 Series lineup that only the Japanese can get their hands on. The premium German automaker will be offering sedan and touring variants for the BMW 5 Series Exclusive Sport Edition. The Japanese can choose a 2.0-litre diesel or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine for both variants. These exclusive 5 Series will be limited to only 300 units, featuring a complete M-Sport package for its exterior. Meanwhile, on the interior, customers will get the comfort from a three-spoke M steering wheel, sports seats wrapped in Cinnamon Brown leather material, a Heads-Up Display, an upgraded audio system and a lot more to mention. If you're a fan of BMW and are lucky enough to be living in Japan, we think you might want to add this limited edition model to your collection. You can take it home for an exchange of something between 7,190,000 to 7,490,000 Japanese Yen. After all, you won't find the BMW 5 Series Exclusive Sport Edition in other countries or when the model is sold out - it's limited to 300 units only, remember?
  9. To celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary this year, Lamborghini has planned to release a special model at the Geneva Motor Show. On the eve of the event, the photo of this hypercar has been leaked. Called the Veneno, which means "poison" in Spanish, this is the fastest Lamborghini ever built. The car is built upon the carbon fibre monocoque chassis borrowed from the Aventador LP700-4. The Veneno is powered by a more powerful version of the Aventador's 6.5-litre V12 engine that produces 740bhp instead of 700bhp. This gives the Veneno a top speed rating of 354km/h. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a six-speed ISR robotised manual gearbox. If you are thinking of getting one despite the increase in ARF, you might be disappointed to learn that all three units of this limited edition Lamborghini have been sold. Each carries a price tag of approximately

The 116i Fashionista comes with a choice of three body colors, namely Crimson Red, White III Arupin and Deep Sea Blue metallic. 12. To launch the limited edition Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK, an overtaking stunt was performed at the Silverstone Circuit in Britain involving precision driver Paul Swift. Paul Swift, who is behind the helm of the MiTo, balanced the car on two wheels. Chris "The Stalker" Walker overtook the MiTo on his Kawasaki Ninja by going underneath the precarious-looking MiTo. The limited edition MiTo has special body decal and comes with a red roof and a pair of red side mirrors. It wears a set of 18" alloy wheels complete with red Brembo calipers behind. The SBK will get the same 170bhp 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo like the standard car. The MiTo SBK is built to celebrate Alfa's association with the World Superbike Championship whereby the company is the title sponsor of the series and supplies safety cars as well.
  13. After the Audi R8 China Edition, the German carmaker has unveiled another limited edition of the super car for the Chinese market. The body of this special edition R8 is painted in Nordic Gold color. Carbon fiber material is applied to external areas such as the front spoiler, rear wing and diffuser and side mirrors. The coupe wears 19" alloys with a titanium hue to complement the body color. In the cabin, the passengers get pampered by exclusive Alcantara sport seats. The interior door handles and gear stick get carbon fibre treatment. The Nordic gold accent is applied throughout the cabin. The limited edition R8 quattro is powered by the 5.2-litre V10 FSI engine developing 525bhp and 530Nm of torque. The engine is connected to the R tronic single-clutch automated manual gear box. The super car goes from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds. Limited to only 30 units, the special edition R8 is going at 2,628,000 Yuan (S$518,542). With rising affluence in China, you can bet that this will not be the last dedicated R8 for the economic powerhouse.
  14. On October 21, 2009, the production version of the Lexus LFA was unveiled on the first press day of the 41st Tokyo Motor Show. Introduced by Akio Toyoda at a press conference, it was disclosed that the vehicle would be limited to 500 production copies. Some three years later, the 500th unit of the LFA supercar has finally rolled off the production line at Japan's Motomachi Plant. A plaque showing the car's build number confirms this is the 500th LFA. It is time to bid farewell to the 552bhp V10 Japanese coupe. Chief engineer, Haruhiko Tanahashi, said, "I've lived and breathed supercars for the past decade. Specifically one supercar, LFA. Very few people have the opportunity we had to create a world-class supercar from a blank sheet of paper." This last LFA comes equipped with the Nurburgring Package. Given the high cost of construction and limited production, analysts do not expect LFA sales to be profitable. However, the coupe is intended to serve as a test-bed for new car technologies, including carbon fiber mass-production, and related performance vehicle development.
  15. A couple of years back, BMW announced that they will return to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters racing series in 2012, after a nearly 20 year absence. And in just its first season after its comeback, BMW had won a hat trick of titles (driver, manufacturer and team titles). To commemorate these incredible accomplishments, BMW is releasing a limited production M3 known as the DTM Champion Edition. The car is designed to look like Canadian driver, Bruno Spengler's M3 DTM racing car. Spengler won the driver's title for the 2012 season. The car is available exclusively in a frozen black metallic finish. The stealthy look is extended to other parts of the car too. The wheels are finished in matte black and the front grille is given a dark chrome finish. A BMW M stripe covers the carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) roof and boot lid. BMW M logos are placed on the rear portion of the front fenders and a DTM Champions 2012 decal together with a Canada flag are fixed on the rear side windows. Interior wise, the door sill strip features the same design from Spengler's racing helmet. Carbon fibre is used to trim the interior's dashboard and centre console. On the dashboard at the front passenger
  16. Audi has unveiled the R8 China edition specially designed for the Chinese market. Only 80 units will be produced, with the car knob bearing the serial number from 1 to 99. Audi skips all numbers featuring a 'four' because Chinese customers consider it as an unlucky number. The Audi R8 coupe is only offered in China with a 5.2-litre V10 engine churning out 525bhp and 530Nm of torque. All it takes is 3.9 seconds for the car to sprint from standstill to 100km/h. On the outside, buyers can choose to have the special Malibu Blue paint used for the body and Suzuka Grey for the side blades or vice-versa. Inside the cabin, the aluminum shifter is engraved with the R8 emblem and two Chinese characters. Other interior upgrades include leather upholstery with contrast stitching, Alcantara material for both the parking brake and steering wheel as well as Malibu Blue trimmings are featured all over the cabin.

  18. [extract] The BMW M3 is one fine performance vehicle and ever since its release, there have been numerous limited editions of the model. Some of these limited editions are market specific while some offer extra bits and parts. And not it seems that the model will get another variant. The car is built in conjunction with Skip Barber, owner of the infamous New England circuit, this M3 features the best of BMW's performance catalogue (although there won

  20. In November 2011, Mazda announced the end of the RX-8 with the introduction of a special edition model, limited to 1000 production units. The demand is so high that Mazda decided to make an additional 1000 cars. The Spirit R, which is sold exclusively in Japan, is available in both manual and automatic transmissions. The six-speed manual model is proving to be more popular, accounting for 66 percent of the sales. Color choices are limited to aluminum metallic, sparkling black mica, or crystal white pearl mica. The second round of the Spirit Rs will be similar to the first production run. This means that they will include special features such as Recaro seats, 19-inch alloy wheels with bronze paint, a special aerodynamic kit and a re-tuned suspension with Bilstein dampers. The end of production of the RX-8 also signifies the end of the rotary-powered Mazda for now. Fans of the Renesis rotary engine need not feel sad as Mazda officials have hinted that it may make a comeback in the future. As of the end of March 2012, Mazda has produced a total of 192,094 units of the RX-8 since it went into production in 2003.

  22. Limited edition cars are something that we often get to see. It is so common that sometimes even normal base models get the limited edition treatment. But some limited edition cars were built for special events or purposes, for example, charity or commemorative events. And this limited edition Maserati GranTurismo S was built to celebrate 150 years of Italian unification. Maserati is building only 12 units of this limited edition GranTurismo S for the Italian market and the most striking feature of the car is obviously the matte blue paint work. The exact name for this exclusive exterior finish is Matte Sebring Blue. The car is not only characterised by the unique matte paint work but also with unique trim levels and features. Firstly, the colour brings out the car
  23. A special edition car made or designed by/for celebrities are not common nor is it something new. There have been a few examples such as the Paul Newman R30 Skyline. But the difference between the Paul Newman Skyline and this two special edition Lotus Evora S is that the Evoras are one-off items specially designed for charity purposes. The Freddie Mercury Evora S was specially made for the birthday (05 September) of the late former Queen frontman who passed away on 24 November 1991. To honour the occasion, Lotus donated a one-off Lotus Evora S which will be auctioned off during a commemorative event. The auction proceeds will go to the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The striking white sports car features red and gold racing stripes as well as an interior which was influenced by one of Freddie Mercury
  24. According to a recent report, Ferrari will form an owners' club and give its members first crack on the ludicrously expensive limited-edition Ferraris that roll out from time to time. Last year, the Italian automaker announced plans to build 80 units of the SA Aperta (shown above), a roadster derived from the 599 GTB coupe. But many long-time Ferrari collectors complained that these limited edition cars were snapped up before they had a chance to act. The SA Aperta was unveiled at a customer-only event in August 2010 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It was then displayed publicly at the Paris Auto show the following month. The cars were sold out by the end of September 2010. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, Ferrari CEO Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said "I do not want our faithful collectors to miss the opportunity to buy one of our special series." He declined to divulge details, but speculation suggests the club could be limited to customers who already own five Ferraris. The company says there are about 300 people worldwide who can make that claim. One such person that I can think of is Hong Kong Singer, Aaron Kwok. According to Wikipedia, Kwok owns a F50, F512M, F355 GTS, F360 Modena and F599 GTB Fiorano. Do you know of any Singaporeans who can qualify to join the exclusive club ?
  25. It is just a matter of months for the 2012 London Olympics to take place; Mini has released a limited edition of Olympics-inspired Mini Cooper. The cars will hit the road as early as March next year and Mini will only built 2012 units of it. The London 2012 Edition models will come in one of three Union Jack-themed colour schemes which are Chilli Red, White Silver or Lightning Blue. All three will feature white mirror caps, a white roof with the London 2012 logo, and a Union Jack stripe running over the bonnet, roof and rear of the car. The cars will also get specially designed grey 17-inch conical spoke alloy wheels, which are not available on any other model. Inside, a picture of the London skyline is etched across the piano-black dashboard, featuring landmarks like the Tower Bridge and the London Eye. And the patriotic theme extends throughout the cabin: the black leather seats get red, white and blue stitching, as do the headrests, handbrake and floor mats. All models feature extra options such as Lounge Leather sports seats, DAB radio, air-conditioning, cruise control, and chrome interior touches. Start-stop and brake regeneration also come as standard. These cars will be released in the UK and there is no word on whether will they be released overseas. Prices in the UK will start at
