  1. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-2021-lexus-previewed-not-coming-uk The low-resolution, darkened shot, posted on the brand's Facebook page, shows the rear end of the new BMW 3 Series rival and reveals it features a full-width lighting strip, much like the UX crossover. The post also reveals an unveiling date of 9 June for the new model. However, Autocar has been told that the model won't be sold in either the European market or the UK. The IS has been offered here in its previous three generations, but sales have fallen in the face of the booming SUV market and newer range arrivals. Lexus shifted 3282 examples in 2019 - nearly half the number sold in 2016. A Lexus UK spokesperson said: "Roughly 80% of all Lexus models sold in Europe are SUVs and the larger ES is outselling the current IS at a rate of around two-to-one, so we made the decision not to introduce this new model to the UK market." Technical details for the new IS are thin on the ground. Without the tough European Union efficiency regulations to worry about, there may be less of a pressing need for plug-in hybrids or electric versions, so we expect it will make use of Lexus's tried-and-tested parallel hybrid powertrain in launch variants.
  2. The Lexus IS may have been around for the longest time, but it also has been continuously massaged with improvements that ensure it continues to be an appealing proposition against its popular German rivals. This latest facelift sees the car getting not only an extensive exterior redesign, but also numerous body strengthening and a suspension overhaul! The Lexus fortunately passes the Auntie Trolley Test, but there is plenty more to know about the boot of the IS. It looks like headroom could be better at the back... However, Jon is certainly impressed by one little feature available to rear passengers, can you guess what it is? And what about the drive? Well I'll just leave you with this little tidbit. You'll just have to watch the video to find out! Join us on the video!
  3. I saw the new IS300 in white during the sneak peek at Borneo. Looks really good in the flesh. Now waiting to see the IS350 F-Sport in real life. Had a very short test drive in the non-FSport IS300, with the standard shock absorbers(not adaptive variable). The way it handles speed bumps is astoundingly good, better than my AVS equipped GS450h. Also the way Lexus tuned the 2L turbo, I did not experience any turbo lag unlike the S60 T5 I also test drove. One thing I am unhappy with my Lexus salesperson is that he did not allow me to drive 99 curves to better assess the handling and steering of the facelift 2021 Lexus IS. For that reason alone, if I do buy the new 2021 IS, I won't be buying through him.
  4. Looking to celebrate a big milestone and take the next step up into the life of automotive luxury? The Lexus IS will tick all the right boxes for you. The passage of time is a fundamentally inescapable reality of life, one perhaps most easily marked by the annual celebration of your entrance into this world - birthdays. But marking the passage of time should be more than just plotting out one day in the calendar. Life should be celebrated in milestones. Milestone moments in life represent significant changes - changes that elevate and enhance our lives for the better. Starting school is a big milestone. Getting your first job is a big milestone. Turning 30 is a big milestone. Getting married is a big milestone. And, buying your first premium car is a big milestone, too. Taking that next automotive step requires a fair amount of deliberation - the car needs to deliver notable improvements to your quality of life, and at the same time still needs to be practical, usable and reasonably financially accessible. And of course, it must be exciting - a fitting celebration for a grand occasion. Here are four ways the Lexus IS is the ideal choice for the next step in life. Impeccable quality Arguably, the most important thing about a premium car is its quality - from the materials used to the level of craftsmanship. The Lexus IS is appealing both outside and inside, with its sleek sporty exterior that cocoons a cabin that is faultlessly crafted with hand stitched seams and premium materials, creating a luxurious and lavish ambience. Sensible utility Sharp styling and fine materials are all well and good, but a car must fulfill its fundamental purpose well, and the Lexus delivers. Enter the driver seat and you'll feel a sense of familiarity accentuated with quality, making this car an easy driver that's ideal for city living. Parking is an effortless and anxiety-free endeavour due to its compact size, but don't let its stature fool you - the IS cleverly disguises comfortable and ample seating for up to five, and also boasts a sensibly sized 480-litre boot that will accommodate a young growing family. Easy accessibility Stepping up into luxury obviously comes at a cost, but that doesn't mean it's not achievable. In fact, with a list price of $176,800, the Lexus IS is in fact one of the most affordable cars in its segment right now. The Lexus IS also makes enhanced performance accessible. The turbocharged 2.0-litre delivers 241bhp and 350Nm of torque to the rear wheels in silky smooth fashion. And, that enhanced performance doesn't come at a significant compromise on fuel economy - the car is rated at 13.3km/L. Fitting eligibility Ultimately, celebrating milestones and taking the next step in life is all about the feel good factor. Whether it's buying your dream car, the Rolex you have been aspiring to, or even your dream guitar, these are all celebrations of personal accomplishment, and must imbue you with a sense of joy and pride. Behind the wheel of the Lexus IS, there's no doubt that you will feel good. With its effortless power, sweet and assured handling and ample refinement, the Lexus IS delivers a heartily luxurious and emotional experience perfectly suited for the modern gentleman. As a proud owner of the Lexus IS, there's no doubt that it will enhance your life is a multitude of ways, and will capably take you on to your next big milestone in life.
  5. Lexus hit the right note with the GS, and the IS here is no exception. Of course, the Japanese marque didn't come all the way without a mission, and that is to topple the highly regarded 3 Series off the throne. With help from the BMW M division, the current 3 Series (codenamed F30) wears an M Sport kit to muscle up its already stout appearance while the Lexus IS' visual drama is further accentuated with the F Sport body kit, which sees it put on a more pronounced front lips and bigger, nicer looking rims. The F30's interior is unmistakably bimmer, carrying the usual hues from the Bavarian marque, such as the driver-centric cockpit and the orange-lit instruments, which boast a simplistic design and are easy on the eye. The IS, on the other hand, charms with its intrinsically-styled cabin, with the space-age driver's display that was inspired by the marque's halo car - the LFA. As a whole, it feels like more effort was spent in putting the IS' cabin together, though it feels slightly more cramped than the F30. The F30 320i packs a force-induced 2.0-litre in-line four engine, and is coupled to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. On the other hand, the IS250's 2.5-litre V6 strictly relies on atmospheric pressure, and dispatches the drive via a six-speed automatic gearbox. Off the line, the 320i's sumptuous low end torque enables it to get up to pace quicker - 7.3 seconds for 0-100km/h compared to 8.1 seconds in the IS. The concise and well-weighted steering of the F30 provides talkative feedbacks, making it fun and engaging to drive. But the IS' V6 packs the linearity and creaminess that the bimmer's in-line four lacks. The biggest downside of the IS, however, lies in its price point. Still, the IS is a more complete car than the F30. And from our point of view, it is definitely a force we would like to be reckoned with.
  6. Lexus Singapore has updated its website to include details of the 2013 Lexus IS saloon. This signals the imminent launch of the all new Japanese sports sedan in the Lion City. According to the website, three variants will be available for sale. They include the IS250, IS250 F Sport and the IS Hybrid. The IS250 retails from $229,000 while the F Sport and Hybrid version is priced from $258,000 and $233,000 respectively. The relatively close selling price of the 'normal' and hybrid variant may see a rise in the number of buyers going for the environmentally-friendlier model. The IS250 and the F Sport are powered by a 2.5-litre V6 Dual-VVT-I engine which is good for 208bhp. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and completes the century sprint in 8.1 seconds. The IS hybrid is equipped with the second generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system. It combines an electric motor with a newly-developed 2.5-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT-I engine to produce a total output of 223bhp. Paired with an Electric Continuously Variable Transmission, the IS Hybrid goes from 0 to 100km/h in a respectable 8.5 seconds and returns a fuel consumption figure of 20km/L. All models come equipped with eight SRS airbags and offer eight external body colour selections. Dimension-wise, the new model measures 4,624mm by 2,031mm by 1,429mm (L x W x H). Its closest rival, the BMW 3 Series, is shorter but wider. For more information on the third generation Lexus IS, please refer to the link: http://www.lexus.com.sg/en/models/is/is-250.html
  7. Lexus will return to Salon Prive later in September this year to showcase its industry-leading range of full hybrid models. It will have a special focus on the F Sport versions of its cars, which combine sportier styling and performance with the peerless luxury, craftsmanship and advanced technologies that are associated to the Lexus brand. Among the line up will be the IS 300h F Sport, representing Lexus's all new sports saloon. Adopting Lexus Hybrid Drive technology for the first time, the new IS presents the latest interpretation of Lexus's L-finesse design philosophy. The effect is even more pronounced in the F Sport, with a stronger rendering of the spindle grille design and styling cues inside and out that take reference from the Lexus LFA supercar. As it delivers increased driving pleasure, the IS 300h achieves CO2 emissions from 99g/km and an official combined cycle fuel economy of 27.9km/L at the same time . It will be joined by the new GS 450h F Sport, representing the fourth generation of Lexus's luxury sports saloon. The GS's hybrid system combines a 288bhp V6 petrol engine with a compact but powerful electric motor. The GS 450h F Sport can accelerate from rest to 100km/h in less than six seconds and progress to a 249km/h top speed despite emitting a modest 141g/km of CO2. The Lexus RX - the original luxury SUV - has been consistently refined and developed over the years to the current RX 450h. It will be present at Salon Prive in F Sport trim too, demonstrating how Lexus has successfully interpreted its sporting theme across its full model range. Common with all current Lexus hybrids, the RX allows the driver to select different drive modes to prioritise fuel and emissions efficiency or performance, according to personal preference or driving conditions, including an EV mode for all-electric running with zero tailpipe emissions and fuel consumption. The LS 600h Premier is the flagship of the Lexus range, a limousine rich in advanced technologies and luxury features. The innovations include the world-first Lexus Climate Concierge, which maintains an ideal cabin environment by monitoring the individual facial temperature of each occupant to determine appropriate co-ordination of the ventilation, heating, heated seats and heated steering wheel. With handcrafted finishes, a supremely smooth V8 hybrid powertrain and a cabin designed for optimum comfort, the LS 600h fulfills Lexus' mission to deliver a world-class limousine.
  8. Toyota, a brand that is highly regarded for its top notch build quality in the past, has issued two massive recalls involving nearly 1 million Corollas and over 300,000 Lexus IS models. These add to a long list of recalls that have plagued the Japanese carmaker in recent years. The Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles affected are built between December 2001 and May 2004. Most of these defective cars are located in the U.S. For the problematic Lexus IS models, they are manufactured from May 2005 to October 2011. According to Toyota, the airbag control modules in these Corollas are susceptible to internal shorting, which can cause the frontal airbags to inadvertently deploy. For the Lexus IS, the wiper arm nuts might not be tightened sufficiently and in the event of heavy snow buildup on the windshield, one or both of the wipers could malfunction - fortunately, it does not snow in Singapore. Toyota has just regained its top spot in the 2012 global sales chart from General Motors. Such bad publicity might jeopardize their chance of retaining that spot in 2013.
  9. Lexus presented the all new IS, now in its third generation (I think) at the North American International Auto Show recently. Presenting an all new facia and aggressive styling, the IS from the start has been designed and engineered with one purpose in mind, to dethrone the BMW 3 Series as the best in its class. American automotive publication Motor Trend recently had a chance to talk to chief engineer of the IS, Junichi Furuyama, to explain why the new IS is important and how this might re-invent the Lexus brand.
  10. Set to be launched at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, Lexus has released a series of photos of the 2014 Lexus IS sports sedan showing the car's exterior and interior styling. As expected, the third generation Lexus IS exterior lines follow closely to that of the LF-CC Concept, featuring a prominent spindle grille and distinctive daylight running LED. At the back, the car sports a dual exhaust system and a pair of taillights that extends to the C pillar. Lexus has not released any official information regarding the third generation IS's drivetrains. However, the IS 250 and IS 350 are expected to be powered by the 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre V6 borrowed from its bigger brother, the GS. These engines will be mated to an eight speed automatic transmission. Toyota's premium division commented that the new IS's increased width and longer wheelbase offers significantly more comfort for the rear passengers while improving luggage capacity at the same time. The car pictured here is the F Sport trim variant.
  11. Lexus has stopped production of European-spec IS models due to new crash safety legislations that goes into effect at the end of the year. The issue concerns the shape of the front-end, which does not meet the new pedestrian safety requirements. Lexus has chosen not to make the necessary modifications to the current model as the all-new model is due early next year. The current IS will continue to be available at European dealerships until the existing inventory runs out. The second-generation IS was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005 as a pre-production model, with the production version debuting shortly after. Lexus sales in Europe have suffered in recent years - with the brand selling 15,000 cars in 2007 before declining rapidly to 10,000 in 2008 and just 6,200 cars in 2010. The arrival of the all new IS saloon will give the firm the impetus it needs in the junior executive sector. The third-generation IS is previewed by the striking LF-CC concept, featuring the latest version of the brand
  12. In the past few weeks, Lexus has teased has with a picture of their new concept vehicle. Lexus plans to showcase the concept vehicle at the upcoming 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Some have said that it could be the next Lexus SC or the next Lexus IS. But judging from the newly leaked concept photos, I doubt it will be the next Lexus IS and more probably it could be the next Lexus SC or a totally new model. From the pictures, we could see that it is a 2+2 coupe and Lexus has named it the LF-LC Concept vehicle. According to Lexus
