On Sept 30, the firm, which has held the distributorship since 2004, shut down its Alfa Romeo showroom at Leng Kee Autopoint and laid off four sales staff. EuroAutomobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of Catalist-listed EuroSports Global –known as a distributor of both new and pre-owned ultra-luxury and luxury cars including the Lamborghini brand in Singapore. ST understands that Mr Melvin Goh, founder of EuroSports Global, informed the affected staff of the company's decision when they turned up for work last Friday. One employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was not shocked by the news as "business has not been great". Sources with knowledge of the situation told ST that Stellantis, which owns Alfa Romeo, picked Komoco as the firm also distributes other Stellantis brands including Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Maserati. Komoco is also the dealer for Alfa Romeo and Maserati in Shanghai. When contacted, Ms Tracy Teo, Komoco's marketing director, said: "At this present moment, Komoco has no comment on the matter." EuroSports Global's Mr Goh declined to comment. ST has also contacted Stellantis for comment. ST understands that EuroAutomobile has over 10 Alfa Romeo cars in stock, including test-drive cars and the firm will be selling them with the standard two-year factory warranty. Mr Gabriel Leong, 39, said the Giulia QV – the highest performance model sold in Singapore – which he bought from EuroAutomobile just over a year ago, had came with a two-year maker's warranty and an additional three years warranty from EuroAutomobile. "I hope whoever takes over the distributorship will honour the warranty," said Mr Leong. Data from the Land Transport Authority showed 10 units of Alfa Romeo were sold between January and August in 2022. In 2019, Alfa Romeo registered 60 units, with the number falling to 39 in 2020 and 37 in 2021. For its last financial year ended March, the group reported a net loss of $1.3 million on revenue of $54.4 million. The gross profit of its automobile distribution business fell 10.7 per cent to $8.98 million, while the gross profit margin for the segment dropped 1.3 percentage points to 16.2 per cent due to lower prices in some new car sales. Lamborghini sales rose by $6.22 million to $41.95 million or 77.2 per cent of the group's total revenue. But sales of Alfa Romeo cars dipped by $0.31 million to $6.9 million. In a bourse filing in July, EuroSports Global said it was undergoing a strategic review to consider options for its various businesses to evaluate opportunities and positioning, with a view to unlocking value and maximising potential value for stakeholders. The group said the review, which would include assessing options including potential fund-raising exercises or restructuring of companies within the group, "is timely to assess the future of the business and optimal path for the group to realise its potential".

Bad Servicing Experience - Komoco uses TAP water in coolant

You might want to skip the coolant replacement at Komoco and have this replacement done somewhere else that uses premix coolant or with distilled water. I was at Komoco for their package C servicing which includes coolant replacement. I was shock to find out that Komoco is not using original Hyundai premix coolant but some unknown brand concentrate and they top up with tap water.. a strict no-no for radiators as tap water creates scaling in the radiator and engine blocks. It is even worst as the technician mixes the coolant to tap water ratio based on their gut feel rather than use measuring apparatus. I was too late to stop them as I found out about their practise of using tap water only after they have replaced the coolant on my car. I got the coolant replaced with Mitsubishi long life coolant at another workshop right after the incident at Komoco. Mind you, owners pay a premium over outside workshop on their service packages. It is only right for Komoco to use genuine parts/fluids for servicing. Other than the coolant issue, I encountered another very unpleasant incident. The service advisor reversed my car into a parked Avante at the quick service centre area. My bumper was scratched as a result but the Avante bumper got scratches and some minor misalignment of the bumper. No news from Komoco regarding goodwill compensation. So I guess Komoco is now out of question for any of my future servicing, their loss not mine. Hyundai owners.. be extra cautious when servicing with Komoco. If your car is under warranty, I guess you do not have a choice. If warranty has already expired, there are many other well established workshop out there that provides better value and money servicing for our Hyundai cars.- 90 replies

w.e.f. Jun 2011 production. 2.0 adds driver + passenger electric seats, ESP, push start button + smart key & USB ipod cable. 2.4 adds 18" alloys, Amplitude selective dampers, auto headlights, driver memory seats, automatic wipers, side & curtain airbags. test drove the i45 2.4 today (not sure whether its >Jun'11 or not) for the first time. Better than I thought =)

Judge rules in favour of Komoco Motors in case against LTA By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 18 May 2007 2017 hrs SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has come out on the losing side in a S$7 million court case. In a judicial review, Judge Judith Prakash has ruled in favour of Komoco Motors, which brings in Hyundai cars. Some 17,000 Hyundai cars were at the centre of the case which started some two and a half years ago. Importer Komoco Motors had been asked by the LTA to pay more ARF, amounting to some S$7 million. "There was a customs issue which required Komoco to pay additional duty on those cars and as a norm the Registrar of Vehicles - or LTA in this case - actually used the OMV figure from customs to determine how much ARF or additional registration fee to impose on those cars. "In this case, Komoco felt the OMV itself should not be extended based on certain extenuating circumstances," says Philip Fong, Partner, Harry Elias Partnership. So Komoco's lawyers say it was prepared to go to LTA, open its books, and give full disclosure as to why they should not have to pay in this particular case. A meeting took place in an attempt to settle the matter out of court. But to court, it went. "We actually complained that LTA should not piggy back on the decision of customs blindly and without exercising an independent mind," says Fong. The case went up for judicial review, which seldom happens in Singapore. This is when a court of law reviews the actions of an official or entity, that is usually part of the government. In making her judgement, which has just been released, Judge Judith Prakash said LTA's policy was not unreasonable or irrational. However, having instituted that policy, the Registrar should have heard the case with an open mind and considered whether an exception should have been made. She added that the Registrar had unlawfully delegated her authority to Customs, by refusing to consider whether or not exceptional circumstances applied. So the Judge ruled in favour of Komoco, with costs - Channel NewsAsia understands LTA may have to pay up to S$50,000. When approached by Channel NewsAsia, LTA said it is consulting its lawyers. - CNA/yy

I went to Komoco today (10-10-05) to change my woodgrain central console panel for my matrix (claim warranty, because had cracks on my present central console panel). The technician fixed the panel in my presence... to my horror, in the process of doing so, he used a flat screw driver and damged my HU... he left two dents at the side of the HU, apparently he used the screw driver to pry my HU, so he can fix the panel. My HU was bought 9 days ago (the actual cost of the HU is $570)... I paid $420 after trading in my old HU... I spoke to the customer service assistant manager on the spot, he refer me to the manager of the sub-contractor who is responsible for fixing accessories. He said komoco is not liable for damages, but the contractor. My foot, my knowledge of law tells me that komoco has a duty of care, even he sub-contract the work to others! Anyway, the sub-contractor manager assessed the damages and apologised and agreed to pay $80 as settlement. I refused! I told him that he either gave me a new set or pay me $500. Nothing less, no compromise! He said he will get back to me tomorrow... Whats your opinion of this incident? I'll make sure I'll blow up this matter if they try to be funny...

Hi All, I had an accident on Friday along ECP towards Rochor(Before Camera) where a Nissan March bang my back of my Matrix. Thus, when i call Komoco, they said that they don't do 3rd party claim but they have a In-House Workshop name Tuffi(Related to Turf Kote). I like to know does anyone in here had ever had any repairs made by them? Need some feedback and comments about this workshop..... Thanks in Advance....

Hi all, Went over to Komoco Motors over the weekend to test drive the Hyundai GETZ. Liked the look of the car, and it drove quite well too It's supposed to be a mini-MPV and so the room height of the car is better than that of a normal saloon car. As a guy of simple taste, my only grouse with the GETZ is that there's no manual version. Asked the sales executives there about the manual version but was told that Komoco has no intention, whatsoever, in bringing in the manual version. Took a look at the MATRIX as well. Wasn't too impressed with it, my main complaint being the fact that the speedometer (and other reading gauges) was located in the middle of the dash-board Weird! The nice set of wheels aside, I was trying to get a look at the much talked about Ginny. Unfortunately, she was in a sales meeting. I was told by other sales people, however, that Ginny's pretty and the gentle demure type Nonetheless, I saw two other sales executives of note - Cheng Cheng (or is it Ching Ching) and Jenny Cheng Cheng's the voluptuous type, with a preference for short skirts and translucent clothing in general . Long hair, not that pretty though but I'm sure all her other qualities more than make up for this Jenny's the slim type with fair complexion, hair reaching just beyond her shoulders. The jeans-type of girl but like Cheng Cheng, has a tendency to flaunt her *ahem* assets - she was wearing quite a low cut top when I saw her Looks like I seem to be more adept at describing women than cars Anyway, since I'm on the look-out for a 1.3 or 1.5 car that is something like a mini-MPV (rather than a saloon), and my budget is 60k to 70k, here are my list of possibles for anyone who shares the same preferences: Hyundai GETZ Honda FIT/JAZZ Daewoo KALOS Toyota IST My personal preference is for the GETZ as I think it is value for money. I would like the Honda FIT/JAZZ but the car is at the high end of my budget . In any case, I'd appreciate any feedback on the selection of cars above, and of course, anything you have to say about the sales persons Btw, it seems that all the nice-looking sales executives are all former SIA stewardesses Milgram
