Hi All -

Synopsis - A Sikh in New Zealand is wrongfully accused (with photo) on social media of sexual assault. It seems from the page admin that it was a "genuine mistake" - but that didn't stop the usual suspects of coming out with racist comments, threats of violence and other nasty things.
You can take from it what you will - labellng New Zealand as a racist, bigoted cesspool if you need to.
But more importantly - it highlights to me the dangers inherent in using social media to try and get "justice" - the real danger that sites like Stomp pose to the innocent, and exactly why "community policing and punishment" is so very very dangerous.
And for those of you that think "it can't / won't happen here" because we are "better" or the law is "stronger" - please stop deluding yourselves and open your eyes just a little to what's going on around you.
