I know most of the air con installer are using armaflex insulation. Apparently, Best Tech from IMM offer this pretty insulator which is call Yamato from Japan. The cover diameter seem like plastic wrapping that prevent water leaking from the insulator. Just want to hear some geniune feedback if anyone is using this Yamato and how good is it.

Hi, Yesterday i was surfing Nam Huat's website and i found their worksmanship for soundproofing to be very good. see this pic: http://www.namhuat.com/trackrecords/pictur...-9450MP0008.JPG as you can see, the sound insulation material conforms to the shape of the door, and a heatgun is used during installation to achieve this. then i went on to the "Featured Products" page and found they carry a brand of sound insulation material by the name of CAE. Anybody using this brand? Is it good? Any comments? where else can i get this kind of worksmanship? i am really keen on letting them do sound insulation for my car. Thanks.

Few months back, my car windscreen is badly chipped so I changed the whole windscreen at a NTUC authorized workshop. Looks as per normal but I notice air seep in from all edges of the windscreen when I travel at high speed (>120 km/h) in NSHW recently. Does not happen at all before the change. It's very obvious, very loud air sound through the front. Loud till can get irritated. Is there a way to fix it, as in improve the sealing of windscreen, either workshop or DIY.

I ve searched the forum and cant find any previous postings, so I will start one new thread here. Was exploring ways to cut down noise coming from air intake pipes, charge pipes, downpipes, etc and getting into the cabin of my car. Was advised by some that one way is to wrap such pipes with heat insulation materials made from fabric kind of materials. Was also told that shops like garage-R can do this kind of insulation wrap, which not only insulates against heat preventing heat soak but also can insulate against noise to some extent. Anyone care to share the effectiveness of these insularion wrapping?

Hi everyone. I saw some advertisement on the above last Friday on some sound insulation package for cars. One of the company is http://www.silent.com.sg . I wonder how effective they are. Will they work on cars like eg. Mitsubishi Lancer which some forumers have noted on its poor sound insulation and comparatively noisier engine ? Anyone out there has tried a sound insulation package ? How much do they costs ?

Dear all, Some of you might be aware that I had to chaneg my car door courtesy by a SMRT cab. Anyway, hope someone can help me out here about the sounds insulation. The original Octavia door has a piece of rubber attached to the door, hence giving it a solid sounds when the door is closed. This new door of mine do not have it, I will like the advice of some friends here where I can get some DIY insulation materials for the door and I am also attempting to insulation the interior of the car. Thanks in advance. Ivan

Seeking opinion. Was quoted $480 to sound proof 4 doors. Uncle told me that the door panel will be removed, inside metal surface will be pasted with a layer of SP material. Then another layer (area underneath the door panel) before putting back the door panel. Total time required 4 hours for 4 doors. Don't ask me what material, I also don't know. He showed me the material and it looks rather thick and solid. It is the stick on type. Will cut to the correct size and pasted internally. He showed me his car. Front door done up but rear door didn't do. When I use my knuckles to knock on the doors, could really feel the difference. One is tu tu tu and the other thung thung thung.............. My wish doors sound really hollow so thinking of doing it. Anybody comments please. Maybe some of you might be interested and can do together. Bargain for lower price!

With all the upgrades I've done for my car, noise level has gone up. To solve the noise problem, I installed Sound Clad and Sound Plus. Cost me slightly more than $600. Noise level dipped a bit. But still very noisy during acceleration. Tire noise can be overcome by switching to quiet tyres like Azenis. But, how about the main culprit (ie the engine compartment)? Does it help if I were to install a foam layer underneath the bonnet cover? Any other things I can install to keep the noise down? Thanks
