  1. While we weren't looking, Geely has come up with its next generation of products, developed with Volvo's input. This year, the Geely GC9 is being launched. The result is quite remarkable. Although things like reliability and build quality can't really be told through pictures, signs like panel gaps and plastic quality can be told. I think this is a quantum leap over the Geely CK which Singaporeans' understanding of Geely has stopped at. Click on the link to see more: http://www.autohome.com.cn/advice/201501/856244.html
  2. anyone knows if there is a way we can connect a 5mm earphone jack (input) into the stock 159 HU? intention is to connect handphone to HU and listen to songs in HP via AUX.
  3. Hi does anyone know where to install this integrated TPMS with your DVD player in Singapore? Visit My Website The TPMS controller module connects to your 2din DVD player's video input. You can monitor the tyre pressure via your DVD player (AUX) eg Kenwood, Alpine...etc. Appreciate some advice. Thanks
  4. my Altis stock stereo system is below average at best, the CD player (playing MP3) is very soft (and if turn to loud, gets distorted) and the radio is also very poor, the bass is non existent and only have distortions and crackling sounds...but when i connect my Samsung S2 to the Aux input (just from earphone output) and play with full volume, suddenly the sound from the system is much much better. The bass is quite good (for my standard, which is quite low), my rear view mirror can shake but there is no distortion from the doors or any crackling sound, only when pushed further until body can feel shiok (by then a bit too loud liao), then the distortion will come...the clarity is much better.....not bad for a stock player, by itself is really crap (downgraded from below average liao) but with just a simple input from external player its now 'good enough'. really dont know why like that. If i am not too embarrassed, can play Gangnam dance full blast!!!!!
  5. Hi all, When I got my car, I had a 3rd party GPS + reverse camera installed. The GPS was horrible to begin with (Damn slow locking time, it can take up to 10 full minutes just for a steady GPS lock) and now I am looking for another GPS set with an AV input, for my reverse camera input. Does anyone know any recommended brands for such a device? In short, I need GPS with an AV input. Thanks loads
  6. INTERESTING OBSERVATION 1. The sport of choice for the urban poor is BASKETBALL. 2 The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is BOWLING. 3 The sport of choice for front-line workers is FOOTBALL. 4 The sport of choice for supervisors is BASEBALL. 5 The sport of choice for middle management is TENNIS. and........ 6 The sport of choice for corporate executives and officers is GOLF. THE AMAZING CONCLUSION: The higher you go in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become
  7. Hi all! After having read through quite a few threads on Conti talk, I would appreciate any inputs from fellow forum members on what are your views on the 2 short listed 2nd hand models I'm most likely to consider getting: 1. Ford Focus Mk2 Hatch Back (Jan 2007, $38,800 with 39000KM clocked). 2. Citroen C4 Mk1 Hatch Back (Jan 2007, $42,000 with 37300KM clocked). My questions are: 1. Are the prices considered reasonable for the 2 cars? 2. Which would be a better car to buy, though I am more for the Citroen C4 as I like the design and overall feel but the Focus offers more peace of mind with it's 3 years+ warranty that is left vs the less than 1 year warranty left on the Citroen. My own views are: 1. I like the Citroen for it's styling and the perceived comfort it gives. However this car is the lower LX spec model so it does without the auto aircon climate control. However, it has cruise control and speed limiter. Leather seats and sports rims comes as standard. Wonder how many airbags are there in this base model? Also the steering hub has lesser controls vs the higher spec SX model if i am not wrong. Wonder what the differences are? Anyone knows? 2. I like the Ford Focus for the fact that it has more warranty left as well as it comes with the factory fitted body kit and 17 rims. However it has only 2 airbags and using a 4 speed steptronic gearbox. Is this gearbox reliable and lasting? The Focus's 100bhp engine is also another consideration as I have read that it can be under powered for a car of this size. How's performance and fuel consumption like for this model? I have also read that this model has aircon issues. Will the Focus Mk2 model suffer the same issues mentioned by a fellow member here or will the issues and bugs have been eradicated already? 3. Based on the 2 shortlisted models, which brand's servicing will be more expensive and as for parts availability, I reckon the Ford will be easier to obtain? Which brand has more external workshops that specializes in them? FYI, I am currently driving a Japanese make even though I have owned a few other ones plus some Conti makes before them e.g. Renault. Even though I would say the Japanese makes are easier to maintain and some brands, e.g. Mazda is pretty reliable in terms of their engine as I have yet to encounter a real breakdown save for a need to change the engine mounting now. That is why I am considering to change to newer 2nd hand car vs up keeping this coming to 4 years old car. After having driven Conti marques, I would say it is rather a hit and miss affair as the cars are great to drive but sometimes exhaustive to maintain. As some of the fellow members here have encountered before, sometimes the car would breakdown even though the car has been serviced regularly. It can be a real pain especially when the car or their parts are not climatised for our region, like the French. However I did enjoy the time driving the French car as it offers something different, though not so friendly to my pocket. Any kind inputs from current C4 and Focus drivers, as well as everyone reading this are most welcomed! cheers! Mooooo P.S. I have yet to head down to test drive the units yet so I can't comment on their conditions as of now. Btw, how should I go about getting a 3rd party to check and evaluate the cars should I be interested to purchase it?
  8. Two days ago, I tried unsuccessfully to connect my Acer laptop to my 40" Samsung LCD TV, which I bought for more than six months ago -- so it's not the latest model. Thinking that the PC input has malfunctioned, I called for warranty service the following morning. To my pleasant surprise, they could attend to me on the next day -- which is today. Good service, I must say! When the guys came and saw my Acer laptop, one of them mentioned to his colleague that they had a similar problem with another customer. Anyway, when they couldn't get my laptop to work on the TV, they used theirs to verify that the PC input was OK -- it was. Upon further prompting, I learnt that it seemed only Acer laptops have this problem with LCD TV. By the way, my laptop is using the ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphic card. I didn't find out which card the other customer was using. I was too distraught with the finding. Sigh...
