Bros and Sis........Coming to a while since I join MCF and would like to share some info. Besides sharing, I also think it is good to give the brothers at this place some salute for serving us over the years as some of us may have know this place. Ho Hup Seng at Blk 7 King George Ave. I know this place since 1996 when I was then driving an old Suzuki Jimny registered in 1979. I have since been to this place many times over the years as the place was run by 3 brothers (Ah Seng, Ah Chai and Ah Li). Even when I do drive a new car, I go there and buy the old man coffee as they serve me well over many years. Place of set up - They are just general spare parts stockist and one of the brother is doing the repair and replacements for people who know them. They have little overheads and they charge really cheap. So for small problems, I still go to them. Besides, if you have more complicated issues, they do recommend you to their affiliated workshops whom are also equipped and reasonable. So for this, I am writing to share as well as a salute for these old brother's whom serve our community well. For our bros and sis whom do know them. Please also comments. I think with years to come, they may just disappear.......Cheers.

Hi Brothers and Sisters, Need your advice. Just met an accident recently. The other driver took photo of my driving license. However, the other driver only gave me his membership card for photo taking. His membership has his photo but his NRIC number is incomplete, eg: S78xxxx55E. So far, the info I had collected from him is his membership card photo and phone number. I had make a report at one of my insurer's workshop. 1. May I know whether we should provide the real driving license for other party to take photo at the accident site? If not, a membership card also ok? 2. What is the info that we should collected from other party at the accident site?

SINGAPORE: The HIV-positive status of 14,200 people – and confidential information such as their identification numbers and contact details – has been leaked online, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Monday (Jan 28). The records were those of 5,400 Singaporeans diagnosed with HIV up to January 2013 and 8,800 foreigners, including work and visit pass applicants and holders, diagnosed with HIV up to December 2011. The leaked information included their names, identification numbers, phone numbers, addresses, HIV test results and medical information. The details of another 2,400 of their contacts – identified through contact tracing – up to May 2007 were also leaked, MOH said in a press release. The HIV Registry contains information on individuals diagnosed with HIV, a notifiable disease under the Infectious Diseases Act. The ministry said it uses the registry to monitor the HIV infection situation, conduct contact tracing and assess disease prevention and management measures. The information is in the possession of an “unauthorised person” – Mikhy K Farrera Brochez, a US citizen in Singapore. Brochez was deported from Singapore in April 2018, after he was convicted of fraud and drug-related offences and sentenced to 28 months’ jail. “While access to the confidential information has been disabled, it is still in the possession of the unauthorised person, and could still be publicly disclosed in the future,” MOH said. “We are working with relevant parties to scan the Internet for signs of further disclosure of the information. “We are sorry for the anxiety and distress caused by this incident. Our priority is the well-being of the affected individuals,” the ministry added. “We appeal to members of the public to notify MOH immediately should they come across information related to this incident, and not further share it.” Read more at https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/hiv-positive-records-leaked-online-singapore-mikhy-brochez-11175718

Hi, I need some info from you guys. I am buying a car from a dealer (have already paid down payment last week) So now I can collect the car in a few days time. I am going to give him a cashier order and he will hand over the car. But he said, the ownership can only be transferred a few days later. Is this normal practice?

Hi, Please show how your Driver Information System looks like for your car incl. what kind of info is available for FC. I'll start off with mine. Car: Audi A3 sedan 1.4T (MY '15) Since: about 2 months ago. Single trip (non-peak traffic): 21.9km/L at avg speed of 65km/h over distance of ~35km. Long Term (since I got the car): 17.8km/L at avg speed of 36km/h over distance of ~5700km. Accuracy: ECU overestimate about 0.3 to 0.5km/L compared to manual pump calculation. Overall this car exceeded my most optimistic expectation on fuel economy esp. for a petrol engine. My previous 1.6L Jap car got me around 12-13km/L on the same driving pattern. I can never imagine a car can go over 1000 km per 50L tank under normal driving conditions. And I even turned off the irritating start-stop system which supposed can save more fuel.

Need info from those who know this battery shop
Mikelcy1963 posted a topic in General Car Discussion
Okay pls bear with me.. I changed my battery from a battery shop opposite the Quality hotel along Balestier Rd. The thing is I cannot remember the brand because its on the side of the battery which is blocked from view after installing. All I know is its a common brand they carry. I think its Indonesia made and come with 6mths warranty. So question is anyone know what brand or possible brands it is ? My apologies for the rather lame question... -

A hit-&-run case at a shopping centre. Don't think the authorities will be of much help as described by the victim IMO what this STOMPer Edwin needed are a witness, a helpful insurance rep &/or a good lawyer (if insurance rep not helpful) but the process maybe stressful & draggy with the outcome not worthy of the effort. In any case, please contact the STOMPer Edwin via STOMP e-mail: [email protected] if you have witnessed or have any information pertaining to the hit-&-run incident at Anchorpoint Shopping Centre at Alexandra Rd on Apr 27 (Fri). From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...or_has_too.html Posted on 29 Apr 2012 Car dented in hit-and-run, but authorities say they are too busy to help STOMPer Edwin is upset that none of the authorities he contacted to help in his hit and run case appear able to help, as they have 'many cases to handle'. The STOMPer wrote: "I parked my car at Anchorpoint Shopping Centre at Alexandra on Friday (Apr 27) at around 7pm. "I went for dinner and then shopped around, returning to my car at around 9.10pm. "I discovered that the front bonnet and the top part of the grille area were crashed into by another vehicle, causing two big dents and many deep gashes that peeled away the paint. "Sad to say the driver who crashed into my car was nowhere in sight. From the location of the damage caused, I can conclude it was caused by a lorry. "I wanted to view the CCTV footage, hoping to get the vehicle plate numbers of lorries, but it became a nightmare as the shopping centre security pushed the responsibility to carpark security, who pushed it to carpark management, who in turn pushed it to the Police. "It was subsequently pushed again to the Traffic Police. But I was told by their call centre operator that their 'investigation' process is slow and will take some time. I was also told that there was no point in speaking to the officer now as he also has many other cases handle, and many procedures to follow. "The reason why I want to speak to the officer is to share information with him or her, including the fact that there was a high possibility that the vehicle involved is a lorry. "As a tax payer I am disappointed to receive this kind of of service. At the end of the day the pushing around of responsibility from all the parties involved was even worse than my car getting damaged."

Wifey received one kid suspected being kidnapped SMS few days ago from her sis but I told her not to anyhow forward wait kena. Now they say 5 clowns kena investigation of spreading false kidnap info IIRC there was also another false alarm of something happening at Holland V last year or the year before that & the individual who "brilliantly" came out with this also kena police case Often when you receive such SMSes there is a tendency to think hey better play safe let my spouse/relatives/friends know about it & then you just send to all without much thought. Now better think twice or thrice before forwarding that SMS... hi bros, After recommendations from some bros here, I went to dreamwerkz to get a quote for a respray cum grooming package. The price was a little on the high side, but reading on here about their history reputation etc and also hearing from them about the products they use, I guess it justifies the price. however, one issue I needed help on. They said that they are not the actual workshop doing the respray. They would pass the car to another workshop to do the dent removal, respray, and they would only do the grooming part. After visiting their workshop, it kind of makes sense as it seems their main business is in car grooming and detailing, and not car bodywork respray etc. But my main concern is, which workshop is it that will handle the respray ? I asked them but they kind of said they go to some trusted workshops to do the respray, but through what he said it was implied that they would not disclose which workshop. When I asked him if he would guarantee the workmanship of the respray, the answer was not clear but could have meant yes and no ... so .... any idea which workshop will handle my car respray should I take the package with dreamwerkz ? I am ok with the price but I just want some assurance of this workshop before I proceed. thanks!
