  2. Infiniti has announced that it is coming to Singapore by the second half of this year, after appointing Wearnes Automotive as the official dealer for its cars locally. For some, the news is long overdue, as Infiniti has grown in quality over the past few years to become a credible rival to fellow Japanese luxury brand Lexus. Some may remember that Infiniti has graced our shores before though, albeit briefly. In the late 1990s, around 1997 or so, local Nissan dealer Tan Chong Motors brought in the Infiniti Q45 luxury sedan, to supplement its Nissan range. Unfortunately, the Q45 sold poorly, and Tan Chong quietly dropped the model from its line-up after a couple of years. Since then, Infiniti has had very little presence in the local market, with perhaps just one or two models brought in by parallel importers to show for it. Now, however, with the latest announcement by Wearnes, Infiniti is making a comeback once again. Let's hope they last a bit longer this time though, for their current products, especially the G-Series sports coupe and sedan (essentially a rebadged Nissan Skyline), M-Series luxury sedan and the EX and FX crossovers come across as mighty fine cars. The only minor thing that confuses me is that why did the brand end up with Wearnes instead of Tan Chong, given the close affiliation between Nissan and Infiniti. Perhaps it's a money issue, or a branding issue. But regardless, at least we finally get to see Infiniti officially back in Singapore now.
