Is it just me? Seems like after Prof Lim's shock therapy theory on wages, the labour activists are suddenly urging more pay increments for low-wage workers after the initial round of strong rebuttals by the powers that be. And now this. In any case if the local bosses faithfully complies with what the survey says then it is good news for all of us salaried employees especially those from the financial sector. Hurray. Anyone can enlighten me. The news announced by LHL on the increased limit for the S-pass to $3000 from $2800(now) from $2500(July). Does this mean the existing S-pass holder will be getting a confirmed pay raise soon? Correct? Or only for new applicant? Then surely the existing holder will also ask for higher pay right? How about the side by side Singaporean colleagues of these S-pass holder....can also legally ask for pay raise to match or not? Singapore’s government, facing complaints from residents having to compete with foreigners for jobs, tightened rules on Tuesday for firms hiring overseas workers in mid-level positions. The ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) is under pressure to slow the rise in the number of foreigners seeking work in the rich city-state after May parliamentary elections that saw the opposition make historic gains. Labour shortages mean the country has to rely on immigrant workers for many jobs. The unhappiness voiced by voters in the run-up to the elections included competition for jobs and places in schools. Starting in January next year, a foreigner must earn $3,000 or more a month before he can qualify for an employment pass that will let him work in Singapore. Singapore in July raised the minimum qualifying salary to $2,800 from $2,500. “Our aim is to avoid increasing dependence on foreign workers over the long term, by keeping the foreign share of the workforce at about one-third,” the Ministry of Manpower said in a statement.

as above, to gauge what is the market average this year as well as see if the red hot economy did translate to good salary increment or is it merely all in bonus.

The cheapest carpark near my workplace has decided to increase the season parking charges by a cut throat 50%!!! Currently its S$80/mth n it will be increased to S$120/mth. The carpark is on ground level, open air type and operates from 8am-7pm from Mon-Fri for season parking only. It is situated outside the CBD area. Its been 3yrs since I worked here n the price remains constant. The surrounding office buildings r charging S$110 - 180/mth. The is a HDB MSCP nearby which if i'm not wrong, charge only S$90/mth. Will u pay S$120/mth for an open air carpark???
