One stupid qn. My current HU (Clarion, MP3) combined with speakers seem to be rather weak in volume. Turned until vol. 10 but quite soft. Need to tune to at least vol 16 everytime. Will adding a cheap amplifier boost the lower end volume? BTW, what's the cheapest amplifier available?

Refer: http://www.straitstimes.com/ST%2BForum/Sto...ory_254372.html CNG seller: Why prices went up I REFER to Mr David Tan's letter last Saturday, 'Why has price of CNG gone up?'. We would like to point out several facts about using compressed natural gas (CNG). [*]Natural gas is priced based on fuel oil (FO). In the first half of the year, the price of FO has increased by around 35 per cent, but we have increased our fuel price by less than 17 per cent. For clarification, Smart Energy started selling CNG at $1.28 a kilo. These increases are beyond the control of Smart Energy as a retailer of CNG. FO prices were also reflected by SP Services in its electricity tariff revision. [*]CNG is sold in kilos, while petrol is sold in litres. For a better comparison, owners are encouraged to measure their cost of fuel in terms of dollars per kilometre travelled. Taking the example of a 2-litre Honda Accord on CNG, with a sampling of 7,286km travelled, total consumption was 517.75kg. This is about $0.106 per km (at $1.49 per kg). On 95 unleaded petrol (5 per cent discount at $2.124), it would cost about $0.212 per km. [*]Our cost of goods is also tied to charges imposed by the authorities. In coming months, there will be a higher charge for natural gas through the national pipe infrastructure. This will ultimately cost the consumer more. While we work to keep CNG prices competitive, global market forces dictate the cost of supply. To remain a viable business, pump prices must reflect corresponding increases passed down from our vendor and the authorities. William Aw Managing Director Smart Energy

How come sgd so strong against usd but cannot defray rising crude oil? In 2007/2008, crude is usd140+, usd/ sgd 1.44+, ron95 petroleum in sg cost $2 per liter. Now crude is usd120, usd/sgd 1.26, but ron95 also at $2 per liter. Is this bec petrol operating cost increase 30% in singapore or authority totally never do anything?

I am starting this thread to address the suggestion by a number of people to let people bid for their own COE instead of letting dealer bid. It actually WILL NOT WORK....the reason is simply this: Lets say everyone bid for their own COE. You get your COE at $10k (a bargain at today's prices)...then what? You still have to go to dealer right? Then you need to worry about the dealer jacking up his/her price..... Coe drop by $20k but dealer increase by $25k...how? Go to another dealer who may also do the same? So you double headache.....those of us we have been affected by the Borneo Motors FIASCO know this.....

I went to BM yesterday. Was informed that HSBC going to increase interest rates back to 2.2% from the 1.9% currently on 20th of this month.... If the loan still uses Rule 78, I don't see why they need to increase the interest rates again! Anyway, anybody heard about this? Maybe sales at BM is too good! Too good an opportunity to earn more!
