  1. We need to shine the spotlight on a Singaporean driver who puts all other Singaporean drivers to shame. Let’s look at the minute-ish video: Mazda 5 driver, why are you so entitled? There are two incidents here. 1. Driver parking wherever he pleases It’s a single-lane road in each direction. But our friend thinks he is some big-shot Datuk and happily parks his car on the road. Other cars behind would have to go around the Mazda 5 if there’s no oncoming traffic in the opposite lane. How selfish can one be? 2. Driving on the road shoulder like an uncivilised turd If you thought that was all, unfortunately, it’s not. Additional footage in the video caught the same Mazda 5 driving on the road shoulder of an expressway. This is not how you behave in a foreign country It’s very embarrassing for Singaporeans to watch this. Malaysians will think all Singaporean drivers are like that when they see this video. In fact, this post has gone viral on some Malaysia FB page. Translates to Yes, we get it. Singaporeans can drive to Malaysia now and enjoy everything our neighbouring country offers. Malaysia is truly Asia after all! Does anybody remember this ad? But no matter where you go, know that someone is always watching. Online Chatter I don’t know where this fella plucks the figures from. But yes most drivers these days have a dashcam installed. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. I was turning onto Bras Basah Road from Queen Street one day and I saw this car that was parked smack in the middle of a yellow box, in the middle of a cross junction with the hazard lights on and to top it all off, in the bus lane as well. I was thinking how on earth could a driver be so thick skinned to even do such a thing? The driver later moved on past the yellow box after causing much displeasure and several long angry sounding horns but still remained stationary as the photo shows, in the bus lane (red lines and everything). How inconsiderate can you get I have no idea. Blocking traffic and violating the laws on the road is one thing but this blatant ignorance of other road users is just intolerable. And the best part was people in the cars behind me also slowed down to take photos of this maniac who thinks the world owes he/she their time. So if any readers know who this person is or why the car was stopped there please leave a comment. Or if you've seen other inconsiderate drivers feel free to comment as well!
  3. Image courtesy of teddy-rised flickr Its 10.23pm and the ERP gantry along the CTE is still 'In Operation', so what do you do; Pull along side on the road shoulder which is already packed with temporary red and white barriers for roadworks or pay 50 cents and continue your smooth journey home? From what I observed, there are still a few imbeciles who will pull along the shoulder and wait for 7 minutes before the ERP goes off. Considering that these people pull over, leave their engines switched on and wait for 7 minutes before the ERP is put to sleep, just to save 50 cents. Don't you think that by leaving your engine running and waiting, its still burning fuel, you're not moving anywhere and in other words, you're still paying 50 cents or even more by waiting! Not only that, you're posing a safety hazard to other road users when you abruptly signal across 2 lanes to stop at the shoulder and with roadworks going on you are probably obstructing traffic as well. I'm not saying that I don't value 50 cents because I know its still money but I seriously doubt the cost of waiting there exceeds the benefits of just driving through. Sure we're paying the government but at the same time, getting home faster and safer. So the next time you see the time on the ERP gantry is timing out, just go through. I just got burned 2 bucks today at Victoria Street when it was 7.54pm and at 7.55pm it could have been 1 dollar. I guess they should just remove the clock altogether to save the pain...
  4. I'm sure I'm not the only one having to deal with this problem on the roads of our sunny little island. Lanes will be cut by these imbeciles who don't know how to use their right or left hands to flick the indicator switch when they want to change lanes. Maybe if they were driving a Ferrari 458 (not saying that just because they drive a Ferrari they can afford to be idiots, but the indicator buttons are on the steering wheel so that makes things a little more confusing, just fyi) I'd understand but the fact of the matter is, they don't. Why in the first place do people change lanes or filter out without using that stalk behind the steering wheel which has 2 arrows on it, one left, one right? Well, one can deduce that they may be stupid. Or two, they just can't be bothered because they feel that other drivers have to look out for them instead of them taking the responsibility of their own cars and their own lives in fact. This has been a problem on many roads, not just ours, for eons now and such people still exist. As one of our fellow bloggers on myautoblog coined it, it really is a part of motoring hell.. I've been trying not to write about this point for quite a while now hoping that there will be some drivers here who can change my mind about the situation at hand, but to no avail. A car just squeezed into what would seem like the length of a Perodua Kelisa, right in front of me on an expressway despite the ample room behind me which the driver could have waited just a second longer to change lanes. Are we Singaporeans really that busy? Is there no time to spare to accommodate for safe and considerate driving? So please, this is an appeal to all drivers who read this blog and this article.. use that signal stalk of yours! It'll make driving slightly more pleasant on our already terrorized roads.
