  1. Model-DJ Tenashar faces drug-related charges including cocaine consumption SINGAPORE - Well-known local model and club DJ Tenashar has been taken to court on drug charges. The former FHM Singapore cover girl, whose full name is Debbie Valerie Tenashar Long, is facing two counts of drug consumption. One involved cocaine and the other involved psilocin - a substance found in most psychedelic mushrooms. The 32-year-old Singaporean is also facing one count each of importing psilocin - a controlled drug - and being in possession of nimetazepam or Erimin-5. Long, who was first charged in court on May 26, allegedly committed the offences in October 2015. She is now remanded at Changi Women's Prison and appeared in court via video-link on Friday (June 22). The court heard that the prosecution was not ready as the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority is currently looking into a possible animal cruelty-related charge against her. Court documents said Long allegedly imported two containers each containing a packet of off-white/brown substance at Changi Airport Terminal 1, arrival belt 19, at around 10.20pm on Oct 28, 2015. The containers were labelled "Psilocybe Atlantis Forbidden Fruit". The contents, which weighed about 42g, were analysed and later found to contain psilocin, a compound which online open chemistry database PubChem says is found in most psychedelic mushrooms. Long is also accused of consuming psilocin and another substance known as benzoylecgonine, a major metabolite of cocaine, on Oct 28, 2015. At around 3am the next day, she is said to have had an Erimin-5 tablet in her possession in a sixth-storey unit at The Quayside condominium in Robertson Quay. News of her alleged drug-related offences first made the headlines in April 2016 when The New Paper reported that Long and her then boyfriend, Mr Thorsten Nolte, who is in his 40s, were wanted by the Central Narcotics Bureau for failing to report back after they were arrested for drug-related offences in 2015. Long had earlier told TNP that she had been dating Mr Nolte since February 2015. He was then separated from his wife, local celebrity Jamie Yeo. This was shortly after Ms Yeo, now 41, told lifestyle magazine 8 Days that she was divorcing Mr Nolte, whom she had married in 2010. The divorce has since been finalised. Mr Nolte's name did not appear in Long's court documents. Earlier news reports stated that Long was the first Singaporean to be featured on the cover of Playboy Thailand magazine in October 2013. That same month, she also became the first Singaporean to make British music magazine DJ Mag's list of Top 100 DJs, snagging the No. 87 spot. She was the only solo female DJ to make the list that year. Long, who is represented by lawyers Eugene Thuraisingam and Syazana Yahya, was offered bail of $30,000. She will be back in court on July 18. If convicted of drug consumption, Long can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined up to $20,000 on each charge. She faces up to 20 years in jail if convicted of importing psilocin.
  2. SMRT has confirmed an order of 570 new buses, which includes 332 MAN 12-metre buses, 40 MAN articulated buses, and a total of 201 Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 double deckers. This the new livery of SMRT ADL double deckers to be launched soon As part of the initiative to increase bus capacity on longer routes and bring greater comfort to the commuter’s bus journey experience, SMRT has confirmed the delivery of over 570 buses. Orders are confirmed for 332 MAN 12-metre buses, 40 MAN articulated buses, and for the first time, a total of 201 ADL Double Deckers. This is the largest fleet renewal and growth initiative by SMRT to date, and re-affirms the company’s commitment to offering commuters the highest standards in safety, reliability, care and comfort. A first batch of about 30 buses will be delivered to SMRT’s bus depots in June 2014. The vehicles will undergo further tests including functional, systems and road tests before joining SMRT’s existing fleet of over 1,200 buses to serve commuters from July 2014. SMRT Buses will be introducing the rest of the fleet progressively till end 2016. The addition of the ADL Double Deckers in particular will help ease crowdedness during peak hours, particularly on longer routes with high passenger loads. Together with other bus orders, these new vehicles will replace older bus models, and address the need for more bus trips and better bus service levels. Mr. Benny Lim, Senior Vice President for SMRT Roads said, “We are very excited with this major fleet expansion and renewal initiative. Expanding our existing fleet with ADL Double Deckers and MAN buses will enable us to better address increasingly dynamic road conditions, and ensure enhanced capacity in handling increased ridership. We look forward to bringing passengers even more comfortable and reliable rides.” Of the over 570 buses that SMRT has confirmed delivery for, 218 are introduced and funded under SMRT’s participation in the Land Transport Authority’s Bus Service Enhancement Programme. http://www.mynewsdesk.com/sg/smrt/pressreleases/smrt-buses-enhances-strategy-for-fleet-growth-and-renewal-double-deckers-among-confirmed-delivery-of-over-570-buses-979666
  3. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1214654/1/.html SINGAPORE: A furniture retailer has become the first to be fined for not including the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the prices of its items on display and in advertisements. Silver River Furniture was fined S$4,000 on Friday on four counts of not complying with GST regulations on price displays. Two other similar charges were taken into consideration. The authorities found two of Silver River Furniture's advertisements in a local English daily in January and February 2012 with small print stating "all prices exclude delivery and GST". Prices of goods in the showrooms also excluded the GST. GST-registered businesses like Silver River Furniture have to show GST-inclusive prices on all displays, advertisements, publications and even written or verbal quotations to the public. The only exception would be businesses in the hotel and food and beverage industries for goods and services that are subject to service charge. The furniture retailer failed to comply with the GST price display requirements, even though it had been warned several times. The maximum penalty is a fine of S$5,000. -CNA/ac
