So I was offered this proposition today by a PI since what I am looking for is "quite unusual", so they suggested I do a "direct import". I like Skoda's value and classy (yet not so plain as VW) look as well as the fact that all their sedans are hatchbacks, so I am curious - how feasible, really, is it to bring in a car like that? Wouldn't it be expensive? Wouldn't getting servicing for it be tricky (well, parts can be sourced from VW though)? ... What are your thoughts? ...And while I'm on this line of thought, what about a SEAT (also VW group!)?

Not for driving on the road. Helping my friend with his new hi-fi shop project. Anyone with shipping contacts who are experiences with cars n motorcycles please PM me. Thanks.

Hi bros and sis. Not sure if my question has been raised before but couldn't find it. i'm considering importing a vehicle(2nd hand rare gem) let say from UK which is also right hand drive like us do i buy a new COE and register it new even the car is say 2002 car. What are the calculation of tax do i have to pay to whichever department be it to custom LTA etc. And the cost of the car shipping to our island. Whatever i have to pay and do. Not very sure about the procedures of it and like to hear from gurus here. I know going to a P.I or car dealers will solve the problem but i would prefer to do it my own to save on the dealers fee which it wouldnt come down cheap. overall the price has to be right, the govt tax mustn't be that high and has to be reasonable. Looking forward to hear from you guys

The Straits Times Nov 30, 2009 Falling productivity an issue Matter likely to be a key issue tackled by growth panel, say economists By Fiona Chan THE declining productivity of Singapore's workers is likely to be a key issue tackled by the Economic Strategies Committee (ESC) when it releases its recommendations in January. This is a problem the government-led panel - set up to find new ways for Singapore to grow over the medium term - should address, say economists. Over the last few years, Singapore's rapid growth has been mostly driven by a massive increase in the workforce, said Citigroup economist Kit Wei Zheng. But it is clear that growth powered by importing foreign labour is simply not sustainable, he said. Between 2006 and last year, the number of workers in Singapore jumped an average 6.5per cent a year, largely due to liberal immigration policies, said Mr Kit. By last year, foreigners accounted for a third of the three-million-strong labour force, up from only a quarter in 2004.Singapore's economy boomed correspondingly with average growth of 8.2per cent a year between 2004 and 2007. Got some lobang to sell heavy duty machinery like overhead cranes and forklift with my bro-in-law (malaysian). Thinking of using Singapore as a base to bring in those 2nd hand stuff first before exporting them out again. Either to service them to sellable condition or short term storage before exporting once found buyer. Can anyone advise where to start from? Some simple things I can think of: 1. Register a company first 2. Rent some space to place those machineries 3. Get a forwarder

Hello all, This is a reply which I received from a UK Vehicle exporter which penned a thread in MCF. Seems like PI Skoda could be a reality in SG. However the warranty coverage is still unclear. Dear Sir Yes, we can supply RHD cars in all models of Skoda and export to Singapore , including the new models which are going to be launched . Skodas are also sold by dealer in Singapore and so they should be able to withstand tropical climates, however we will find out from Skoda here in England UK and also about the warrantee. Below is are the document which you will need from our side to import cars into Singapore, which we can provide when you purchase the vehicles 1.Invoice company location must near Port of origin. 2. BL cannot show transshipment details. 3. COC certificate , 2 sided details emmision directive, dimensions of car, manufacturing details. 4. Letter of newness from UK authorize agent. ( must be within 3 month from manufacture date to Singapore ) 5. Euro4 vehicle compliance documents We can also provide you contact details of customs clearence agent in Singapore who will clear that cars fro you at Singapore Customs port. Thank you Mr Y Patel Prestige Car Exports (UK) Tel: 44 ( 0 ) 7727639229 Fax: 44 ( 0 ) 7075767503 [email protected]
