My Kia cerato is giving a humming sound whenever the steering wheel turns, sound like hmmmm. Changed power steering fluid but the noise persists, no leakage no CEL. The power steering is hydraulic, no problem with turning, and can hear the fluid flowing sounds too. What could be the issue?

Hi. I am new to leisure cycling. I know there is this website called togoparts but I'm not familiar with the people there and don't wish to do the usual minimum post count before creating a topic. I'm sure there is a sizable group of cyclists in MCF. Just wondering where I can get my hydraulic disc brakes bleeded? How much does it cost roughly? I'm staying in the east and will hope to have a bike shop recommendation. I tried asking a bike shop in bedok called teck hock Hin and was told that he is very busy till late September. ZZzzzz. Maybe brakes bleeding is not a lucrative type of business and is frowned upon by the shop owners. I'm hesitant to go those very old fashioned uncle bicycle shop cos I got a feel that they won't know how to service. Any suggestions please? Pls advise cost too Thanks!

The use and types of power steering systems Power steering has always been something that most, if not all, drivers in this world desire when it comes to driving a car. Without power steering, the steering wheel of a car often feels heavy for the driver to turn. Needless to say, this is not convenient at all. The power steering system that used to be available in most cars in the former days utilised a hydraulic system. Hydraulic power steering system In order to assist the movement of the steering wheel, a hydraulic power steering system counts on high pressure fluids. So, when the steering wheel is turned, the hydraulic power steering system will open up the pressurised fluid or flow such that it makes turning the steering wheel to the desired direction feel lighter. Electric power steering (EPS) system However, nowadays, it seems that most, if not all, automakers are leaving the hydraulic power steering system behind. They are more enthusiastic towards what is known as the electric power steering system. This new steering system works by taking advantage of an electric motor in addition to a control unit that features quite a few sensors. In order to function properly, the motor requires a battery as well as electric power. As everything is controlled by an electric module, the electric power steering system requires only minimum maintenance. If you are wondering how you will be able to tell whether a car uses hydraulic or electric power steering system, it isn

Would like to share what had happened to my ride recently. My car is about 1 yr 2 months+ and mileage around 45k+ km. I started to notice strange noise coming from the driver's side of my car, not knowing what's the problem, I continue to drive for about 3 days before sending in for check up. The service crew told me its the hydraulic pump leaked after checking. He said most likely its the hose broke and resulting in empty reservior. Subsequently, he said this is due to wear and tear problem and hence the dealer is not covering this damage as part of the warranty. The pump, if failed and need to change will cost estimate $800+. i would like to ask if anyone have encountered a leaking hose in your ride which will damage the hydraulic pump and not covered by the warranty. Do note that my last servicing is a major one at 40k and is it a routine not to check tell tale sign of a leaking hose?

Source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp.../364483/1/.html Qantas jet forced to turn back after hydraulic leak Posted: 02 August 2008 1609 hrs SYDNEY: A Qantas 767 was forced to return to Sydney on Saturday after taking off when the pilot detected a hydraulic leak, the airline said, denying reports the jet made an emergency landing. In the third safety scare involving Qantas aircraft in just over a week, the airline said the Manila-bound flight with 200 passengers on board landed at Sydney Airport about 3:00pm after the problem was detected. "It landed without incident after the captain became aware that the aircraft had a hydraulic leak," a Qantas spokeswoman told AFP. "It was not an emergency landing." The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Sky News Australia and Australian Associated Press all reported the incident involved an emergency landing. On July 25, a Qantas Boeing 747-400 en route to Melbourne from Hong Kong was forced to make an emergency landing in Manila after it developed a large hole in its fuselage. Then last Monday, a Qantas 737-800 was forced to return to Adelaide after a landing gear door failed to retract. Qantas said passengers were never in danger in the latest incident. - AFP/so
