  1. If you think that..... BMW is taking their sweet time in coming out with the latest M5; or if you think that BMW's M Sport body kit is too tame for you; or if you know you can't afford the upcoming F10 M5 as your paycheck isn't large enough; and if you think that your 520d with the M sport body kit still looks like an 'unclemobile'.... then you should head over to Hamann for a makeover. This kit differs from the Hamann Motorsport kit for the normal F10 5 series as it adds to the M Sport parts. The front end receives a lower lip/splitter setup, the sides receive thicker skirts, the rear looks like it only has larger quad-tailpipes (from a sports muffler setup) as well as a tiny boot-lid spoiler and a roof spoiler. Fat 21inch alloys on suspension that is lowered by about 35mm rounds up the package as do the monotone rear lights. The interior gets the usual alloy pedals and carbon fiber trimming. Nothing out of the ordinary and nothing seriously worth mentioning. At best this is all dress up. It does look good but if you're all about max power then this is not for you. The exhaust system may add 5bhp or so to a 520d or 520i and the car may feel like its handling better (with those huge wheels and lowered suspension) but aim it at the nearest pothole and weep. I suppose Hamann is doing the bread and butter stuff first for the 5 series and is waiting to let loose its tuning skills on the upcoming M5. I mean, why bother modding a 520i like crazy when they can go ballistic on the Full Monty that should be launched as a 2012 model sometime soon? source:hamann via wcf

This is what I think Hamann must have meant when they created the Lamborghini Gallardo Victory II you see in this short article. Enough said. Just enjoy the pictures and proof on what you can do with excess cash. Happy 2011 people!
  3. There recently was news regarding a collaboration between horsepower brokers Hamann Motorsport and suspension tuner extraordinaire H&R. Between them they have basically created the ultimate Fiat 500; the 275bhp, 380Nm H&R Hamann Fiat 500 Abarth Essesse. This is basically the ultimate bubble sports car as it should have the handling to match the power supplied to it. We start with Harmann's contribution to the package first. In order to achieve the desired 275bhp, Harmann has basically thrown in everything it has at the Fiat 1.4liter Multijet turbocharged engine. The engine gets forged pistons, uprated & polished conrods, cylinder head porting & polishing, different camshafts (most probably high lift with a different duration), Hamann fuel rail with fuel pressure regulator and larger injectors, a larger geometry variable vane turbocharger, Hamann specific intercooler & air baffles and colder high heat resistant spark plugs as well as the usual ECU tweaking and tuning. All of the fuel and air gets exhausted via a 200cell sports cat and then through a quad tail pipe sports exhaust system. This then passes through a limited slip differential equipped 6 speed manual gearbox that gets an uprated clutch & pressure plate and a 20% lighter than stock flywheel. With 350Nm going through the Fiat's front wheels, all of the goodies mentioned are very necessary. Hamann also adds larger 4pot brake calipers up front with 305mm diameter discs and larger than stock 264mm discs at the rear. This is added insurance for those trying to quell such a ballistic little car from very high speeds. Hamann then throws in their body kit complete with front splitter and rear diffuser, LED daytime driving lights, wide wheel arches and side skirts. Also assisting in the looks and handling are 18inch alloy wheels running 225/35//18 tires. H&R then comes up with the handling package for the car after Hamann is done upping the horsepower and the stopping power. H&R have stated that they had developed a new suspension system that consists of coil-overs front and rear (with high-low/soft-hard settings). They have also increased the width of the little Fiat's track front and rear with the use of wheel spacers specially designed for the Fiat. The suspension takes into account of this extra width and it isn't like some aftermarket tuner slapping some spacers without any proper research. Aside from improving grip, H&R claims that the handling is greatly improved as the firmer suspension and wider track reduces pitching and roll movements to a minimum. This allows the driver to actually focus on driving fast and hard instead of worrying about trying to control the extra body movements. The news on this special collaboration Fiat 500 Abarth was released in line with its official preview at the Essen Motor Show in Germany which started on the 27th of November. No information on pricing has been announced as yet. Not a bad looking little monster. I'd keep the power mods, alloys and suspension but I would lose the slightly over the top body kit and I'd keep the car painted in the original Abarth colors as this car looks like it has been painted by someone who works at the Puma shoe factory. It seems to have a cat leaping from one side of the bonnet to the other, much like the Puma Speedcat shoe.
  4. I recently posted about Hamann going ballistic on the looks of the F10 BMW 5 series. Basically Hamann had gone through great lengths in trying to make that car look very aggressive. It had also tried its best, and failed, with the 5series Grand Turismo too (although it wasn't at fault as the car itself looks like a illegitimate child of a 7series, a X6 and with the DNA from a Rover SD1). The latest Hamann Motorsport release is not a BMW, but a Mercedes. The SLS to be precise. This time they have only released a few performance/upgrade parts for the already mad and at the same time fabulous SLS. The most noticeable upgrade featured is the HAMANN alloy rims called the 'Design Edition Race
  5. Tuning big boy Hamann has come up with tuning parts for the F10 BMW 5 Series. This kit ups the ante in the looks department of the 5 series as the standard car looks very sedate compared to the previous generation, over styled E60 5 series. But maybe they have put in a little too many spoilers at the rear. The rear is full of juts, ledges, fins and spoilers. On the roof the Hamann 5 Series is the BMW trademark shark
  6. The BMW 5 series Gran Turismo is one niche-mobile too far in terms of looks. The 5 series GT has the very blunt looking front end styling of previous generation E65 7 series as well as its ride height and the X6 styling from the A pillar rearwards. It is actually the illegitimate love child of these two BMWs but somehow, like most BMW niche-mobiles it will sell decently well. But this article isn't about making the 5 series GT sound like a total abomination as it is about HAMANN-Motorsport's reworking of it. So I will try to stop giving it a hard time for now. It has been stated that the F07 (the internal codename for the 5 series GT) was specifically designed with the United States market in particular. Which actually explains the size (larger than a 5 series sedan but slightly smaller than a 7 series) and its weird niche marketing looks. So HAMANN has decided to make the car into something a little more chic, more stylish, more sporty and of course more power. So we start by looking at the 'chic' and 'stylish' part of the modification first. Front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser type valence with room for four 90mm tailpipes and a rear wing make the car look a little more aggressive as well as looking a little lower to the ground when coupled with the lowering kit. This lowering kit works with the standard air suspension that is fitted on the 530d, 535i and 550i versions and make the car look even less like a lowered X6 Sports SUV and more like what a 5 series is supposed to look like. The kit also adds as one of the wheel options the HAMANN Anniversary-Evo steamroller 22inch wheels and tires to complete it. 9.0inches wide in front on 265/30ZR22 tires and 10.5inches wide at the rear riding on 295/25ZR22 tires. So with the body kit and large wheels, it does look sportier than before. But it is still a little dumpy looking, to me that is. I suppose this is the best HAMANN could do with the F07. For the power part, HAMANN has also developed a tuning kit for the 530d which makes 275bhp from the standard 245bhp. Torque figures goes up from 540Nm to a tree pulling 620Nm at a fabulously low 1,750rpm. The petrol powered cars will most probably have the standard ECU tuning, air intake and exhaust systems to make petrol heads happy too.

Extra capacity instead of turbocharging: Hamann catapults the new BMW 760i/Li into a new dimension of performance with the Hamann HM 7.0 increased capacity engine. The Hamann capacity increase to 7,080 cm3 is made via the installation of a special crankshaft, the boring up of the cylinders and the fitting of bigger forged pistons. In addition the two cylinder-heads of the V12 four valve engine get machined and sport camshafts are installed. The tune-up also contains modifications on the air induction, the installation of a stainless steel made high performance exhaust system including special manifolds and metal-bed catalysators and a recalibrated ECU which perfectly coordinates all components. Of course the modified ECU also eliminates the standard electronic speed limit of 250 km/h. The conversion to HM 7.0 specification improves maximum power from standard 445 hp (327 kW) to 510 hp (375 kW) at 6,000 rpm. Simultaneously the maximum torque grows from 442 ft lbs (600 Nm) to 536 ft lbs (728 Nm) at 4,200 revs. Accordingly the road performances of the 760i/Li are improved: The tuned limousine only takes 5.0 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Hamann also offer stainless steel sport exhaust systems for all current BMW 7 Series models which are available with or without exhaust manifolds and metal bed catalysators. Chassis To realize these road performances it is necessary to fit special high performance tires. Hamann furnishes the 7 Series BMW with HAMANN PG3 22-inch light alloy wheels. They require 265/30 ZR 22 in front and 295/25 ZR 22 rear as optimal tires. The Hamann tuning program for the BMW 7 Series range also includes the high performance brake system with vented and perforated 380 millimeter discs and 8-pot calipers on the front axle. To give the new BMW a wedge-shaped lowering, Hamann offers progressively coiled sport springs. With them the bodywork is lowered about 40 millimeters front and about 20 millimeters rear. Body The modern design of the 7 Series can be refined using sporty yet elegantly styled Hamann bodystyling components. The Hamann front spoiler, which is fixed on the standard bumper, doesn't only give the car a more prominent face, it also minimizes the lift on the front axle at high speeds. The Hamann side skirts and door panels make the limousine look lower and more stretched. The rear panel with integrated diffuser harmonically rounds out the exciting design of the Hamann body conversion in conjunction with the sport side mirrors. In addition, the 7 Series can be made even more individual with the roof wing and rear spoiler.

Apart from the Hamann CS1 tune-up to 195 hp and a sports exhaust system, the range contains sporty designed body styling , a coil-over suspension, multi-piece 18-inch light alloy wheels and accessories for the cockpit. The engine development department upgrades the mechanically supercharged 1.6 litre engine using a special supercharger drive, a modified air induction and a recalibrated ECU. Maximum torque grows from 210 Nm to 251 Nm. The Hamann sports rear silencer with two central stainless steel tips not only make an earthy sound, but also optimise power output. Hamann offers extra hanlding with a height-adjustable coil-over suspension and 18-inch wheels and tyres. The stiffer set-up sports chassis lowers the car by up to 50 millimetres front and 30 millimetres on the rear axle. The progressive springs and the stiffer shock absorbers of the coil-over suspension improve the handling of the Cooper S.
