My favourite gun youtuber, Ian McCollum (nicknamed Gun J**** by youtube fans), latest vid of a James Bond theme match in a range run down, using a AK-74 and HK P7 while dressed in tuxedo. If only range was that fun last time... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EmYs_tzYo4

I am sure all of us have read about the new SAF indoor live firing range that was recently launched. New indoor live-firing range for soldiers launched http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/new-indoor-live-firing/836414.html Shooting... now this is a topic close to my heart. I guess most of us; heck, a few hundred thousand Singaporean males, are/were soldiers at one point of time or another. Some of my fondest memories of SAF include the opportunities I had to actually get behind a variety of small arms and blast away using live rounds. Managed to fire the following weapons live, during my NSF/ORNS days: M16, P226, SAW, GPMG, Steyr Sniper Rifle, and the current SAR21. When I left the SAF after serving the requisite 2.5yrs NSF + 13 yrs ORNS... I really missed the smell of cordite and the kick of live fire. Even during the 13 years of NS, there were actually very few opportunities to fire live rounds. Mostly were just blanks during field exercises. Some years ago, I wrote into SAF with a (WITS) suggestion that we open up some firing ranges for reservists, on their own time and interest, to get the opportunity to hone their shooting skills with live ammo. If the cost of operating the ranges and the cost of ammo was too high to absorb, SAF could charge reasonable fees for the ex-servicemen to pay. Of course, this should totally voluntary on the part of the ex-servicemen. Those who were interested could participate, and no compulsion for those servicemen who just Served And F*ckedoff. If SAF was too busy - they could subcon the task to SAFRA or a private company. It is a win-win scenario - SAF would get soldiers kept in fine shooting form for FREE (assuming they passed on the costs to the reservists). Reservists would have another option for leisure activity, an opportunity to keep current and in shape with their hand-eye coordination and target practice, have fun trying out the latest weapons in the arsenal, a stress relief opportunity (heck, we could hang pictures of people we hated as Fig 11 target boards!), probably lower the number of fighting incidents outside - since we could work off our stress here. Sad to say - nobody replied to my suggestion. Well, now here is another opportunity to raise this suggestion once again. I am very sure that all live firing ranges are very busy and always in demand.. but I think it should be possible to allocate some time sharing - for example on Sat afternoons, and Sundays, and perhaps even weekday evenings after 8pm etc, if there is no official training. The system could be opened to only SAF and ex-SAF personnel if due to security restrictions, perhaps. Perhaps some ranges could even be opened to public, if possible. Of course, proper security checks could be done to ensure no psychotic chaps get hold of the weapons and ammo, and ex-servicemen could be employed as Safety officers during firing. Book lane 1 & 2, and go with some ex-platoon mates for guys nite out, and friendly competition on who's the best shot. Maybe even start a league tournament, or inter-con shooting. Heck, if it all works out - can even find shooters to represent SG in regional shoot-meets. Would you be interested in going to such a live firing range, and paying, perhaps $5-10 a session and 30 cents a round (min purchase of 30 to 50 rounds)? Could be just like going bowling, what?! Firers, watch your front! Own time, own target, carry on!

Any bros following this series? Have been following it since season 1 and really to these fellows from Red Jacket. They have been converting normal small arms to all sorts of deadly configurations as accordance to customers from average Joes to private security firms. Not sure if they have gotten permission or any permit from their state or federal agencies (should have right?) to do that because they have for example converted semi-auto firing (by law) say AR15s or even Browning 50-cal HMGs to full auto modes. Which means any psycho customers can suka suka train his Browning 50-cal HMG on his neighbours to unleash hell... [sweatdrop] For a strictly gun control state like ours, it is really an eye-opener that their Constitution allow them to own guns And I thought the last time they fired a civil war-era cannon was the biggest calibre weapon they had gotten their hands on until last night when these fellas repaired a WWII-era M1 57mm AT gun and fired it. They even re-furbished the rounds themselves by filling up empty fired shell casings with explosive propellant, installed primers and topped them off with projectiles. Below is a shot of these guys firing the 57mm gun: How about that?

Redefining the political landscape Monday, 30 January 2012 Singapore Democrats SDP's Treasurer, Dr Vincent Wijeysingha, spoke at the 'The Young Guns Forum 2012' last week organised by the National University of Singapore Political Association. The other panel speakers were PAP's Mr Vikram Nair, NSP's Ms Nicole Seah, and WP's Mr Gerald Giam. Dr Wijeysingha outlined the prerequisites of a progressive society which were based on "principal freedoms" that emerged from societal struggles in the past. Below is the full text of his speech.

Watching 2nd episode now on Discovery Channnel. This guy Will and his merry men modify arms for a living. Not the hands you & me have but the other type that we NS boys shoot in the range & hopefully not in a battlefield...ever. Episode 1 Will's Red Jacket company mated a short-barrel M16 & a shot gun aka M203 style for a SWAT team for door breaching- & it worked! Ended up he sold 8 nos. at 3k a piece to the SWAT folks. Episode 2 he took on a order to put a silencer on a shotgun & also get to fire a Civil War era canon which had not fired in anger since 1865.. Really interesting show...

Turbo Mazda 6 Guns For Mondeo ST he new cars just keep coming from Mazda! This is the hottest-ever version of the 6 - and it's on course to take the performance saloon market by storm when it arrives in showrooms. To be badged MPS - which stands for Mazda Performance Series - the newcomer will go head-to-head with the likes of the Ford Mondeo ST220 and Alfa Romeo 156 GTA. However, we will be able to see a production version of the car in the metal long before it appears on British forecourts in August next year. That's because bosses at the Japanese company are hinting that a left-hand-drive model will appear at the Paris Motor Show in September. The magazine's spies caught the car undergoing hot-weather testing in the Mojave desert in America, where Mazda's men have been assessing the engine's cooling ability. The photographs show how the manufacturer has used the look of the MPS concept, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. They reveal how the manufacturer is aiming for a slightly different appearance with the MPS, to distinguish it from less performance-oriented 6 models. At the front, there's more of an overall RX-8 look, while the headlamps get a darker tint to give a more aggressive feel. The standard 6's two-bar grille is replaced by a more prominent three-bar arrangement, while the front bumper includes an air splitter, and has three separate air vents to aid cooling and deliver a beefier physical appearance. At the rear, the MPS features exclusive tail-lamps, while the lean and low body style continues, with individual side skirts and a chunky rear bumper, which the model's twin exhaust pipes poke through. Larger wheels and tyres, as well as a discreet boot spoiler, complete the picture, although Mazda main dealers are expected to offer a bigger aerofoil to those buyers who want their cars to make more of an impact. And making an impact is something the MPS promises to be good at, as it looks like beating competitors in terms of its power output. Unlike its main rivals, the Mazda will make do with four cylinders instead of a V6, but the 2.3-litre engine, based on that fitted to the 6 Sport, will have a turbocharger bolted on to develop in excess of 280bhp. This will be enough to give the MPS a 0-60mph sprint time of less than six seconds, while the maximum speed is expected to be more than 150mph. Power will be transmitted to the tarmac via a four-wheel-drive transmission, already used on the AWD estate version of the 6, but modified to deliver more rigidity. The MPS's gearbox will be a close-ratio six-speed manual, with the possibility of a clutchless sequential unit being added at a later date. Mazda has also hinted that an estate version of the newcomer could be in the pipeline - although if the load-lugger does get the green light, it isn't expected to appear before 2006. But the best news for performance car fans is the price - even though the MPS will have more power than class rivals, the company says the car will be available for well below
