Maserati GranTurismo S unable to outrun a Nissan NV200 on the KJE
jameskarlchan posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
TL;DR – A Nissan NV200 and a Maserati GranTurismo S were caught on camera racing one another along the KJE. However, the race did not go as one would have expected. The Maserati GranTurismo S is a beautiful car. Image credit: Google It’s a 4.7L car housing a V8 engine that pushes 400+ horsepower. We’re talking 0 to 100km/hr in about 4 seconds! But yet, in this 47-second video, you can see how it loses to a Nissan NV200 (a van). What happened? The first thing that comes to mind after watching the video is a quote from Vin Diesel in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. Image credit: Magical quote.com The video starts as how you would expect it to go. The GranTurismo speeds ahead of the NV200. But the forward thinking NV200 driver takes advantage of an empty pocket of space on the first lane and barrels forward. Meanwhile, the GranTurismo got stuck behind slower vehicles on the left. These are two WOW rides boasting ponies in excess of 400bhp. If you had the cash to splash, which one would you go for?

Finally a new Maserati to replace the current GT. Unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow. Well at least these are the official pictures - no photochop here (i'm pretty sure). It has a slightly upgraded (of the current) 4.2-liter V8 pushing out 407Hp (from 400). Looks refreshing. Don't the rims look outta this world? Think it took it's front nose from the MC12 below. Maserati MC12. U'll never see one in Singapore. Never.

Deeq posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
The Gran Turismo 6 European launch event got under way on 2nd December in Ronda, a town dramatically perched above a canyon in Andalusia in Spain. Here's a series of photos so you can see how things unfolded on the first day of this two-day event. The launch showcases some of the 1,000 supercars that feature in Gran Turismo 6 The festivities began on Monday, December 2, with an opening reception and press conference at the Convento de Santo Domingo. Later that night, a fireworks show lit up the city skyline. Polyphony Digital Inc., developer of "the real driving simulator", has delivered the most authentic experience to date to celebrate the franchise’s 15th Anniversary. The much awaited game is set to launch in Singapore today.-

Sony Playstation's Granturismo 6 visually epic trailers, with over 1,200 cars
Deeq posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRKbIXb9ShE With over 1200 cars, 37 locations and 100 track layouts, GT6 is more than enough to test the mettle of any virtual gamer. As well as GT staples like Grand Valley, High Speed Ring and Trial Mountain, Apricot Hill returns to the series after its absence from GT5 while two new original locations, Matterhorn and the Gran Turismo Arena make their debuts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA8bgld5sU8 The roster of real-world circuits has grown further too, with the Ascari motor sports resort in Spain, Willow Springs, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, the Goodwood hill climb and the famous Mount Panorama circuit in Australia all appearing for the first time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcKt5gm1C44 As most of you may(or should) already know, the latest version of one of the best-selling franchise on PlayStation, set for release in Asia on December 5th, launched a range of pre-order exclusive premiums like the 15th Anniversary Edition, which comes with a DLC 3D voucher card, including three 15th Anniversarys designed cars of Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7), Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance and Viper GTS, and the Racing Pack or Collectors Pack, with an extra DLC 3D voucher card of the 15th Anniversary designed Audi R8 LMS ultra car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33XHZ0A51ck As far as cars go, the list is extremely spectacular--classic beauties like the BMW 507 and Ferrari 246 GT Dino join modern supercars like the Pagani Huayra, Ferrari FXX and of course, the new Corvette Stingray. Cadillac's CTS-V coupe also appears, alongside more esoteric offerings such as the Light Car Company Rocket, KTM X-Bow and Jay Leno's 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado. And you can still drive dozens of Nissan Skylines, Honda Civics and Mazda Miatas. Day and night simulation will now be accurately modeled relative to where on the globe you're racing. Even the positions of the stars are accurate during night races, letting you watch the Milky Way pass overhead--while real-time weather is also on the cards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X4FCyI1SlM Sony said that the game uses a new engine that "pushes the limits of the PS3", causing us to wonder what it's like on the PS4, which wasn't mentioned. This new game engine is joined by a new physics engine that extends to include tyres and suspension and kinematics models. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G90aunpShIE- 1 comment

One of PlayStation’s popular titles, Gran Turismo, will launch a sixth version on the eve of its 15th anniversary next month with a smattering of spectacular new rides. Mercedes-Benz is one of the manufacturers to have fully engaged its marketing engine for the launch and is helping to kick-off the virtual exercise with a spectacular 585bhp virtual concept named the AMG Vision Gran Turismo. The project reportedly started because of a challenge put forward by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. He asked design studios from all across the globe to come up with a concept using the theme “Vision Gran Turismo”. A handful of these, including the AMG Vision Gran Turismo, were selected to be transferred to the virtual world where they will be available in Gran Turismo 6 through online updates. But for Mercedes, the challenge was also an opportunity to explore future design. For the German automaker, future design looks to contain extreme proportions, sensual contours and a high-tech quality. Signature styling elements for the brand are also present, including a long hood, compact greenhouse and broad shoulders. Like the recent Mercedes-Benz SLS and the 300SL from the ’50s, the Vision Gran Turismo comes complete will gullwing doors. Players will be able to drive the new supercar when Gran Turismo 6 launches in December.

Another Paris Motor Show star: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
Rigval posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
I love Maseratis and news of a new one always makes my heart flutter, a little. Maserati has released information on a new derivative of the GranTurismo which is to go on sale in the first quarter of 2011. This piece of news as released via their media centre should be part of its viral marketing campaign that should tie in with its official unveiling at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. The new Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is what its called and it will be the fastest, lightest and most powerful Maserati on sale at this moment in time. The GranTurismo MC Stradale is inspired by the Maserati Trofeo GranTurismo MC and their race winning GT4 models. The Maserati Trofeo is a one make, one type series for the GranTurismo and the GT4 is the FIA sanctioned GT4 class where the GranTurismo seems to be doing pretty well recently. The MC Stradale, in which the 'MC' stands for Maserati Corsa (Maserati Racing) and Stradale, meaning road, clearly states its race origins and its purpose as being a road legal version of the full Corsa version that runs around race tracks. It adds to the GranTurismo experience by incorporating handling and aerodynamic additions that Maserati have learnt from the three racing programs it enters. The first two programs are those stated above and the third is that of the FIA GT1 Championship series. The MC Stradale now produces more downforce without the extra aerodynamic drag. From the looks of the MC Stradale, it seems that most of the aerodynamic work must come from that redesigned front bumper. The grille with the trident now looks very pronounced and separate from the lower lip portion. It looks like an interpretation classic Maserati Birdcage front end suitably modernized for current consumption. Very aggressive looking when coupled to that front fenders that have air vents and outlets to channel air away from the tires (creating less aerodynamic drag and less air pressure). The rear is also touched by the addition of a very aggressive looking rear diffuser and integrated exhaust setup. I also suppose that this exhaust setup and some engine fettling by Maserati has also enabled the Maserati 4.7-litre V8 to produce 450bhp yet still consuming the same amount of petrol as the regular GranTurismo. Maserati has not revealed any other details as to whether the suspension is special for the car or how much lighter the car is even though it states the car is lighter and does not sacrifice the regular car's ride quality. I suppose they're saving the extra details for the Paris Motor Show. And this car is soooooo much nicer than that tuned Mansory version that I wrote about recently.-

[extract] The always outrageous and over the top tuners Mansory have now turned their attention towards Maserati. After their really garish Porsche Panamera in Cobalt Blue and some Canary Yellow inserts, and their quite subtle interpretation of Rolls Royce
