Toyota shows how GR Yaris is made, hints at more GR cars source: https://uk.motor1.com/news/429886/toyota-gr-yaris-factory-video/ Toyota wanted an assembly line that could mass produce sports cars of a consistently high quality. The Toyota GR Yaris seems like a fantastic, little hot hatch. In a recently released video, the automaker shows the assembly line that builds the GR Yaris and would probably handle assembly of future performance vehicles, too. The dedicated GR production line is at Toyota's Motomachi factory. The automaker set it to move assembly through various cells that allow for more work by hand than a standard vehicle at this plant. As the company describes the strategy in the video, the goal is to have a place that can "produce millions of sports cars without any difference in quality." A GR Yaris is not just the standard model with a few different parts. For example, there's an additional 11 metres of structural adhesive and 200 extra welds in an effort to boost rigidity. Technicians handle adjusting the alignment on each car. "With its new manufacturing methods, the GR facility is capable of handling multi-type, small-volume production, without compromising productivity," Toyota writes in the description for this video. While the statement is hardly definitive, it lends further credence to the idea that the GR Yaris is not a one-off undertaking. After making the investment to set up this production line, abandoning the effort so quickly wouldn't make much sense. The rumors are that the Corolla or the C-HR are most likely to be the next vehicles to get the GR treatment. Either of them could be fun with the GR Yaris' turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder making 257 bhp and 266 lb-ft. Plus the hot hatch has a three-mode, all-wheel-drive system that lets owners select the torque split.

TOYOTA Toyota teased the upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch with an image shared on Instagram that featured hidden clues detailing the new model. The GR Corolla will be powered by the same turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine as the global GR Yaris. The GR Corolla is expected to debut sometime next year and go on sale as a 2022 model in the U.S. Ever since Toyota debuted the GR Yaris hot hatch and said that it wouldn't be sold in the United States, we've been itching for a version of one that we could buy here. After all, Toyota needs something to compete with the likes of the Honda Civic Type R, Volkswagen Golf R, and Hyundai Veloster N. Good thing Toyota isn't leaving us behind, because we're getting a GR Corolla soon. The company just dropped a teaser image on its Instagram account that give some hints of the new raucous hot hatch. WHAT WE EXPECT THE GR COROLLA TO LOOK LIKE. | ILLUSTRATION BY BEN SUMMERELL-YOUDE/FOX SYNDICATION | CAR AND DRIVER Naturally, the users over on the GR Corolla forum were quick to point out all the hints, which are scattered around an image of a standard Corolla's interior like a game of I Spy. GR stands for Gazoo Racing and is used on the Supra and the new GR86 sports car. The time indicated on the gauge cluster is G:16, which refers to the G16E-GTS turbocharged three-cylinder engine that's used in the GR Yaris. The 268-hp output of that powerful engine's Japanese version is found on the climate controls in the teaser image. European versions make 268 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and the engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. That's not all. There's even a camouflaged GR Corolla hatchback in the background of the image (we tried to zoom in; you can't see much, sadly). There's a GR Four road in the navigation system, which refers to the advanced all-wheel-drive system that has Torsen limited-slip differentials in the front and the rear and an electronically controlled center differential. Look for more details on the new GR Corolla soon, as Toyota is sure to trickle out details about the new hot hatch before its reveal, likely next year, since it released almost all the details on the new Tundra pickup before its official debut.>

McDonalds is collaborating with Toyota Gazoo Racing to bring these Toyota GR Supra scale models with what looks like each purchase of fries or a Big Mac. (I'm just guessing from their Japanese site) And at ¥220 and ¥370 respectively, we think that's mighty good value! (Again, guessing from the Japanese website) The model appears to only be available in Japan (as you might have guessed, but we hope not for long!) but for all those that need their McDonald's fix, there's a mighty delicious video of Toyota's 'Drift Twins' Daigo Saito and Nobuteru Taniguchi going sideways around a little Macs, embedded for your convenience above. Imagine showing up to your nearest Maccies in one of these. Yeah the mad things people will do to get some fries. We cannot wait for this circuit breaker to end.   4. Good news for future GR Supra owners, Toyota has released new TRD parts for your car. However, the majority of its parts are meant for its aerodynamics. First seen on the TRD GR Supra Performance Line Concept, the parts include the front carbon fibre spoiler that is supposed to reduce lift at high speed and lowers the ride height by 14mm. The side skirts do the same and makes the car lower as compared to stock by 4mm. We aren't so sure about the side door garnish which was designed to smoothly direct airflow to the rear end of the Supra. It makes the coupe look less sleek with it on in our opinion. Moving to the rear, the carbon fibre diffuser reduces ride height by 24mm, aiming to produce downforce in conjunction with the new boot spoiler. The forged aluminum wheels are new too and are 19-inch in size. These parts are only available in Japan for now and unfortunately, there are no performance parts that would increase its power output yet.
  5. Reviews of the new Toyota GR Supra have barely been out but someone has already swapped the new Supra’s BMW engine for the legendary 2JZ engine found in the MK4 Supra. It was only a matter of time and no, there is no prize for guessing which country did it first. If you haven't guessed it, its Japan's Daigo Saito. A professional drifter known for his spectacular drift cars, Saito has since built a crazy Lamborghini Murcielago and a Ferrari 599 GTB for his drifting pleasure. Details are scarce for the moment but the photos he uploaded on social media allows us to see that he added an additional rear-mounted radiator for extra cooling capacity. Of course, it is fully stripped out for maximum weight savings and it looks like it will be getting some really large fenders to cover those wide tyres. Interestingly, Saito mentioned that the new Supra is a good base for a drift car as it has a short wheelbase and compact body, allowing it be easy to control during drifts. He also reckoned it would be easier and cheaper to run too. Said to produce around 800bhp, the 2JZ-GTE equipped A90 GR Supra took just 42 days to develop and build and is set to make its first public appearance on 23rd March in Tokyo at the D1 Grand Prix All-Star Shoot Out.
