<Toyota GR Corolla Teased with a Game of I Spy Toyota dropped a teaser on Instagram with tons of hidden clues about the upcoming hot hatch, which is expected to use a 268-hp three-cylinder engine. TOYOTA Toyota teased the upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch with an image shared on Instagram that featured hidden clues detailing the new model. The GR Corolla will be powered by the same turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine as the global GR Yaris. The GR Corolla is expected to debut sometime next year and go on sale as a 2022 model in the U.S. Ever since Toyota debuted the GR Yaris hot hatch and said that it wouldn't be sold in the United States, we've been itching for a version of one that we could buy here. After all, Toyota needs something to compete with the likes of the Honda Civic Type R, Volkswagen Golf R, and Hyundai Veloster N. Good thing Toyota isn't leaving us behind, because we're getting a GR Corolla soon. The company just dropped a teaser image on its Instagram account that give some hints of the new raucous hot hatch. WHAT WE EXPECT THE GR COROLLA TO LOOK LIKE. | ILLUSTRATION BY BEN SUMMERELL-YOUDE/FOX SYNDICATION | CAR AND DRIVER Naturally, the users over on the GR Corolla forum were quick to point out all the hints, which are scattered around an image of a standard Corolla's interior like a game of I Spy. GR stands for Gazoo Racing and is used on the Supra and the new GR86 sports car. The time indicated on the gauge cluster is G:16, which refers to the G16E-GTS turbocharged three-cylinder engine that's used in the GR Yaris. The 268-hp output of that powerful engine's Japanese version is found on the climate controls in the teaser image. European versions make 268 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and the engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. That's not all. There's even a camouflaged GR Corolla hatchback in the background of the image (we tried to zoom in; you can't see much, sadly). There's a GR Four road in the navigation system, which refers to the advanced all-wheel-drive system that has Torsen limited-slip differentials in the front and the rear and an electronically controlled center differential. Look for more details on the new GR Corolla soon, as Toyota is sure to trickle out details about the new hot hatch before its reveal, likely next year, since it released almost all the details on the new Tundra pickup before its official debut.>

source: https://www.motor1.com/news/486412/gr-corolla-followed-by-wagon/ And a look through the GR Yaris’ parts bin. It’s a little known fact that petrolheads secretly love a sports wagon. It’s akin to that one guilty pleasure Taylor Swift song – a.k.a. Shake It Off – that you’ll immediately skip if you’re in the car with other people, but jam at full volume on your own. As such, it looks like Toyota might be looking to release a spicy GRMN version of its Corolla Touring. Before we start, we’d be remiss not to mention that the Corolla Touring isn’t currently available in the states. However, that shouldn’t subtract from the vehicle's credentials or the fact that a sportier version could be on the way. For the uninitiated, the GRMN callsign translates to Gazoo Racing Meister of Nürburgring. While the GR signifies some of the Japanese automaker’s racing DNA has been injected into the automobile, we can only guess what updates the Corolla will get. According to Spyder7, the exterior will likely include a large-diameter matrix grille to provide optimal cooling performance. Along with the new front fascia, other mods could possibly include an under spoiler, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and side skirts. While we’d wager the exterior alterations are mostly for aesthetics, things will likely be a bit different under the skin. Under the hood, it will likely sport the same turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-three-cylinder engine from the GR Yaris. And that’s a good thing, because with 257 horsepower (192 kilowatts) on tap, it’s the most powerful three-cylinder engine ever fitted to a production car. Following the same pattern, the new model will likely also receive the GR Yaris’ AWD system. While the Corolla Touring GRMN is expected to debut sometime around September of 2021, let’s wait and see what happens. Should the sporty wagon materialize, we’d wager that enthusiasts would bite your arm off to get behind the wheel.

Mention the words 'small fun hatches for the driving enthusiast' and you will usually hear the words Swift Sport in reply. This may not be the case soon as 2013 has seen quite a few new arrivals like Renault's Clio RS 200 Turbo and Ford's Fiesta ST. A new addition to this group is Toyota with its new Vitz GRMN Turbo. The Vitz is actually Japan's version of the Yaris hatchback, which actually just arrived on our shores. GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing Meister of Nurburgring and they are Toyota's racing partner. The Vitz GRMN Turbo churns out 150hp and 206Nm of torque from its 1.5-litre turbocharged in-line four and this non-turbocharged version of the engine actually comes from the Vios. Mated to this engine is five-speed manual transmission with well-placed alloy foot pedals to allow for quick shifting. No official figures were given but we reckon it will blitz the century mark in well under 9 seconds. With a low kerbweight of 1,070kg, it should be able to walk away from a Swift Sport easily. To keep the car under control, Gazoo Racing added a larger four-pot caliper brake system and recalibrated the suspension to make it sportier. Larger 17-inch rims round up the chassis dynamic upgrades. The racy theme follows into the car with the standard Vitz seats giving way to snug, Alcantara-lined racing seats and a cool-looking metallic instrument cluster. Even the audio system has been removed to keep the weight down. Here's the bad news. Production is limited to just 200 units and out of the 200 units, we will be receiving erm.. zero.

[extract] The Toyota 86 is one of the most anticipated sports cars that came out from Japan in the past few years. But as soon as it was released, many complained about the lack of power and wanted more out of it. It seems that these clamouring have not gone unnoticed because Toyota will display a much more powerful 86 at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Toyota planning on a three tier sports car blueprint
FaezClutchless posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
After the release of the Toyota 86 and rumours of a Supra successor set to be released in a few years time, there is no doubt that things are changing in the Japanese auto firm. Once known for releasing boring cars, now the company is back on track with a new sports model and it seems that we are going to see more sports orientated models from Toyota. Some of us may have already known about a Supra successor that is slated for a release roughly in 2015. Rumored reports have mentioned that the car will be based on the Gazoo Racing Sports Hybrid Concept. But, latest reports have stated that Toyota is planning on a three tier sports model line-up; with a new sports car sitting below the 86 and the Supra successor above it. Toyota-

Gazoo Racing 'seasons' the Lexus LFA for the 2010 Nurburgring 24hours Race
Rigval posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Toyota has decided to enter its only sports car in the Nurburgring 24 hours Endurance Race. By that I mean that Toyota has decided to let its luxury brand Lexus compete. As such, the actually amazing production version of the Lexus LFA will compete in the above mentioned race, prior to this; Lexus had twice entered the Nurburgring 24 hours with development mules competing in the prototype category. Now the full fledged production version will do the same. The cars will be prepared by Gazoo racing and will be driven by a total of four Japanese and three German drivers that have GT racing and endurance driving experience. The production Lexus LFA has a 552 bhp mid-mounted V10 engine which sounds really unique, and is capable of 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of around 320 km/h. I wonder how much modification will go into the car as in endurance racing, reliability is paramount. Maybe the power output will remain the same, with additional oil coolers for the rear differential and gearbox. The other major change might be to the gearing, making it suited for racing and partly fuel economy as its an endurance race. Refueling, tire change as well as driver changing stops play a main role in endurance racing too. Now who are Gazoo Racing you may ask. It seems that Gazoo Racing is a Japanese tuner with a Toyota specific tuning business. They have entered Lexus/Toyota Altezzas in 2007, the Lexus IS250 in 2008 and the prototype LFAs in 2009 in the Nurburgring 24hour races So far their road specials were/are limited to the Toyota IQ and the Vitz in Japan. They are experts in
