  1. One of the fuse in my fuse box in the engine bay keep melting. It's the heater, 30amp. Not just the fuse plastic melt, but the plastic surround that particular connector also melting away. However, the fuse doesn't blow, but somehow affect the functionality of my aircon blower. Any idea what's wrong? or what could be the cause?
  2. Aircon blower stopped functioning for a while and then on again. Thankfully the car has a front and rear blower. When I checked the fuse box, the 35A front blower fuse is quite badly burnt. Normal below 25A fuse can find easily. This 35A fuse is rather unique. Where can we find a 35A fuse? Thank you.
  3. yesterday I doing some diy job to remove the foot light installed previously. when I tried to remove the wires I think it got shorted and I can see smoke and sparks coming out from the fuse box at the driver side. Any workshop in the west would be good.
  4. Need some help here. I have a water dispenser at home that sometimes short circuit and cause my entire house to power trip as the circuit breaker will "jump". Is there a power socket that has a built in circuit-breaker that I can buy? So that I can connect my water dispenser to this power socket, and that this socket will cut off the power to my dispenser whenever short circuit without my house circuit breaker "jumping"? Problem with my house circuit breaker "jumping" is that whole house no electricity, and that if I'm not at home, all food in my fridge will rot. Please help. Thanks.
  5. 1 of my relay fuses was found to have blown up. The workshop (which I had never been to before) charged me $70 for it. Labour inclusive, just like to know whether that was a reasonable price so I know whether I can go back to them in future. Thanks!

  7. Hi guys, I just replaced a burnt fuse for a 20A 12V outlet for cigarette and it worked again. However after replacing that fuse, now some of the electrical components like immobiliser, interior lighting, audio, clock do not work anymore. I tried replacing those fuse as well but still unable to bring them to life. Any clues? I do not have a multi-meter with me now and I'm no electrical engineer.

  9. Hmmn... I dunno shld this be in here or in detailing. I have a old B&D Car Vaccum cleaner, its original cigartette plug was spolit, so i bought a cheapo cigarette plug (without fuse) from SLT, it worked for a yr but i feel unsafe and the connection is nt that secure. So i get another better cigarette plug from SLT again. This cigarette plug has a glass fuse rated 240v 3amp inside, but it blew once i on the vacuum. So i get a 7amp to try it and it worked. But after vacuum for ard 10min, the plug started to melt. So i wondering if anyone here do know what is the correct amp for a 12v car vacuum cleaner? Please advise me... Thank you.

  17. hi all, just want to understand abt this problem. my HU, rockford fosgate, suddenly cant play or listen radio. like no power input. but the buttons lights are on. just tat i cannot activate the radio or CD to play, and there is no display and time shown. so i happen to drop by TS auto. the guy check check, said that at the car battery, the wires are somehow loose. thats why no power input. he said its best to put a fuse box there. i scratched my head. all along, i been using this HU, no problem at all and there was never a fuse box there. he said $25 for fuse box. well, since its not expensive price to pay. i ok lor. he fixed it and its hanging next to the car battery. now the HU is working perfectly fine. my question: wat's this fuse box? (its a clear plastic tube with wires at both end) is it necessary? i got no amp or woofer. did i just kena chop for $25???? its a small amt anyway.
  18. i bought my fuse box (that little box with voltmeter reading, 150A fuse) from simp limp tower, and brought it during my install to Mok of bukit timah. he installed everything else except the fuse box. he didn't consider that basic install, and said it required using metal brackets to secure it near the battery terminal, that since i didn't buy from him he wont install it. i suppose that's reasonable, not sure what u think. so now i'm left with this fuse box. if i dont use it, my circuit has no fuse. although the fuse is a little large for my amp - my single amp supposed to use 120A but i couldn't find 120A... either 150A or smaller A. i guess if next time i add a 2nd amp, a 150A maybe just nice - 120A to this amp, 30A to the other amp. so i attached my fuse box temporarily to the other end of the power input cable - in the boot, just before my amp. technically it's on the same line in the circuit diagram - the positive input, although the positioning has changed - instead of being next to battery + terminal, it's now at tail end of the same wire. therefore technically it's serving the same purpose. but is it wrong in any way? why do people always install it in the engine compartment?

  20. Hi all, Thanks in advance. Posted this in the ICE section, guess most of them like to enjoy using the system then DIY. I have a Octavia Classic, original Blaunpunkt set and believe the fuse is blowned. Understand that there is a fuse within the electrical line before the set. There are 2 fuses and the external one is ok, hence, it is suspected that the one inside is blowned. It looks like the 13Amp fuse we use, but it is covered with a glass. Cannot remember how it has been done, something like slotting wires into the 4 holes from the side of the set....been a while ago that i have muck around with cars stereo. kindly advice how to remove the main set to from the dashboard. Again, thanks. Ivan

  23. Last Sunday was driving along SLE suddenly my HU turned off automatically. Finally reached destination in Woodland but after turned off engine car cannot start. Suspect battery flat so got a fren to jump start, OK car came back to life but while driving started to jerk, then panel light dim, all the lights started to flash like christmas light (airbag, abs, batt, etc), then car DIED along SLE !!! Got it towed to Servo. Next morning went back to check the car and found the fuse box's(box above the battery)1st wire (black - extreme left) blown, plastic cover melted a bit. Got it repalced on the spot at Servo. Fellow Octy (or all skodians) check your box & dun get caught with a blown fuse/wire. BTW, my ride is 3+ yr liao, Maybe wear & tear. Just to share.

  25. Dear all I've installed a set of air horns on my vehicle. After a few horn sounding, there was no more sound. I think I might have blown the fuse. Question: My stock horns require an amperage of 10A, (see attachment) in the fuse box is a 10A fuse for the stock horns(a pair). I looked at the box for the air horn and it requires a 20A fuse. When I installed the air horn, I left one side of the stock horn back on, connected. When I did the connection, I spliced one of the pair, and just connected the positive and negative sides to the air horn, with out the relay which is included in the air horn box. Cos in my circuit diagram, you can see an existing relay. Should I use back a 10A fuse, change to a 20A fuse and take out the stock horn, or use a 20A fuse and keep both the stock horn and air horns on? In the Western part of Singapore, where is a good choice to get fuses on a Saturday? Or do I have to go down to Sim Lim Tower? Your help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Lester
