  2. Sakae Holdings founder Douglas Foo selling bungalow for $16.13m http://www.asiaone.com/business/sakae-holdings-founder-douglas-foo-selling-bungalow-1613m?xtor=EREC-16-4[Emarsys_Newsletter]-20181107&extid=6934d0cfb7b252f1ae9f0dbddf5ff88ca8637e77 Sakae Holdings executive chairman and founder Douglas Foo is understood to be selling a bungalow in Cassia Drive in District 11 for nearly S$16.13 million. The price works out to S$1,542 per square foot based on the freehold land area of 10,458 sq ft. Located in the Raffles Park Good Class Bungalow (GCB) Area, the two-storey property is on a squarish plot. Mr Foo has been in the news recently after Sakae Holdings lost US$4.3 million selling sugar to a disappearing customer. The sugar sale had been invoiced in December last year and remained unpaid for months before Deloitte, Sakae's auditor, flagged the issue to the board on Aug 27. Mr Foo has a direct and deemed interest in 65.91 per cent of Sakae Holdings. The Cassia Drive bungalow which Mr Foo and his wife are selling is an investment property; they live elsewhere. Another recent transaction in a GCB Area was along Windsor Park Hill, at S$23.5 million or S$1,068 psf on the sprawling freehold site of about 22,000 sq ft. It is being bought by a member of the Wang family that controls JMD Investment. The Wangs are the paternal relatives of the family of Charles & Keith CEO Charles Wong, according to an earlier article. Meanwhile, fashionista Pek Lay Peng, owner of multi-label omnichannel retailing platform SocietyA and executive director of the Shingda Group of Companies founded by her father Pek Ah Leck, has picked up a bungalow along Jalan Kampong Chantek, for S$15.3 million or S$1,372 psf on land area. Standing on an elevated site of about 11,155 sq ft, the property was renovated a few years ago and is understood to have five ensuite bedrooms; the master bedroom has a big walk-in wardrobe and its own lounge/study area. The house also has an infinity pool. It is currently tenanted. Along Bishopsgate in the Chatsworth Park GCB Area, a bungalow is transacting for nearly S$27.89 million or S$1,849 psf on land area of 15,085 sq ft. It had been jointly owned by Liu Cheng Chan, the founder of Parakou Shipping who died last year, and his wife Chik Sau Kam. Spanning two levels, an attic and a basement, the house has seven ensuite bedrooms, a family entertainment room and a lap pool. The buyer is involved in a host of businesses including tea leaves, ship bunkering and passenger ferry services. According to List Sotheby's International Realty's analysis of caveats captured by URA Realis, year to date, 35 deals totalling S$871.4 million have been sealed in GCB Areas. For the whole of last year, there were 42 transactions amounting to S$888.6 million. Market watchers note that in addition to the S$871 million in caveated deals since the start of this year, there have been at least S$215 million in transactions completed in the same period for which caveats were not lodged by buyers. Bungalows in GCB Areas are the most prestigious form of landed housing in Singapore, with strict planning conditions stipulated to safeguard their exclusivity and low-rise character. There are only about 2,500 bungalows in the 39 GCB Areas. William Wong, founder of Realstar Premier, observed that since the second quarter of this year, demand for bungalows in GCB Areas has been very selective. "For those in prime locations such as Tanglin, Cluny and Dalvey, there is still a strong pool of demand from buyers prepared to pay a premium; it takes a shorter period of one to three months typically to move a property that comes on the market. "In comparison it could take six to nine months to find a buyer in locations further away."
  3. Another one! RIP Seems like a major recall of the big names up there. Must be one helluva rocking concert.... Earth, Wind & Fire soul band founder Maurice White dies From the sectionEntertainment & Arts Image copyright: Getty Images Image caption: In a career that stems back to the 1960s, Maurice White was a singer-songwriter, producer and Earth, Wind & Fire bandleader The founder of soul group Earth, Wind & Fire, Maurice White, has died in the US, his brother has said. White, 74, died in his sleep in Los Angeles on Thursday morning. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease. His band had a series of hits including September, Boogie Wonderland, Shining Star and After the Love has Gone. The singer-songwriter was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1992 but his condition was reported to have got worse in recent months. Earth, Wind & Fire were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, and Maurice was individually inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. Earth, Wind & Fire have sold more than 90 million albums worldwide. "My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White passed away peacefully last night in his sleep," Verdine White, also a member of the band, told The Associated Press on Thursday. "While the world has lost another great musician and legend, our family asks that our privacy is respected as we start what will be a very difficult and life changing transition in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes." Earth, Wind & FireA nine-piece band centred around the two White brothers and singer Philip Bailey The band's most successful period began with the 1975 album That's The Way of The World They remained prominent in the charts for at least a decade afterwards White publicly revealed he was suffering from Parkinson's at the time of the band's Hall of Fame induction He stopped touring with the band in 1995 because of a combination of tiredness and health problems White said in an interview with the Associated Press news agency in 2000 that he wanted Earth, Wind & Fire's music to inspire people rather than just entertain them. "That was the whole objective, to try to inspire young people to believe in themselves and to follow through on their ideas," he said. "We've touched so many people with these songs." A former session drummer, White formed a band called Salty Peppers in the Chicago area in the late 1960s. He subsequently moved to Los Angeles, disposing of all of the band members except Verdine, The band was renamed Earth, Wind & Fire after the three elements in his astrological chart. Many of the group's earlier hits were characterised by Bailey's bright falsetto voice. The band is perhaps best known for its exuberant, horn-driven mix of jazz, funk, gospel and Big Band music played at concerts where they performed in glitzy costumes underneath multi-coloured lights. They played at many top venues including the Super Bowl and the White House. "We live in a negative society,'" White informed Newsweek at the peak of the band's success. "Most people can't see beauty and love. I see our music as medicine."

  5. Founder Bak Kut Teh @ Rangoon: 2nd Generation Hawkerpreneurs! Prime Rib Bak Kut Teh $8 There has been a lot of talk about preserving our hawker heritage recently. The main worry is about the lack of younger Singaporeans wanting to enter the hawker profession. This is certainly a big concern for certain dishes like Char Kway Teow. The problem lies in simple, basic economics. If you can sell a dish for $6-$8 and Singaporeans can recognize its value and happily pay for it, then the dish will survive and thrive. But if Singaporeans continue to complain when the young Hokkien Mee man increases the price of his plate of Hokkien Mee from $3 to $3.50, then he might find that he would be better off converting his stall to selling pasta where people are happily paying $6 for a plate of carbonara at the same hawker centre. Similarly, it really makes no sense to me when people complain that the cup of kopi has gone up from $1.30 to $1.50 when they are happily paying $5 to drink a cup of coffee from a cafe. It is no wonder that all our young people end up pulling coffee out of an expresso machine rather than filtering it through a sock. The good news is that dishes like Prawn Mee and Bak Kut Teh have somehow been able to break out of the "Cheap Hawker Food" paradigm and so that we have places selling jumbo prawn mee for $12 while there are still others selling a bowl of normal prawn mee at $3. The option to choose between the two is a good thing and if it can happen with other dishes like Char Kway Teow and Carrot Cake, then the future of these dishes can also be assured. Prime Rib Bak Kut Teh is another dish which is thriving. This is largely because Bak Kut Teh has always been considered a "luxury" hawker dish even in the good old days. As a result, there are many Bak Kut Teh restaurants in Singapore and there are more young hawkers who are willing to take over their parents' legacy. This form of succession planning is vitally important to the preservation of the soul of the restaurant. We have seen this with Song Faand Rong Chen Bak Kut Teh and today we feature the next generation of the very popular Founder Bak Kut Teh. Those of you who have visited Founder at Balestier will no doubt remember all the photos of celebrities posted on the wall of the restaurant. Indeed, it is one of the most popular places for Bak Kut Teh and for many years, the original owner had refused to open another branch because he wanted to maintain the standard of his Bak Kut Teh. However, due to the persistence of his 2nd daughter, he finally relented and gave his blessings for Chui Chui, who had grown up helping him at the restaurant, to open a branch of her own. Pork Cuts used for Bak Kut Teh The secret to the quality of Founder Bak Kut Teh is in the insistence of its founder, Mr Chua Chwee Whatt in only using fresh pork to make his Bak Kut Teh. Mr Chua had previously been a pig farmer in Punggol and went into the Bak Kut Teh business when the government decided to stop pig farming in Singapore. He had learnt how to cook Bak Kut Teh himself instead of picking up the skills from a master, which is why he named his stall, Founder Bak Kut Teh. So, from the very founding of Founder, he has been using only the best fresh pork he can get his hands on. The tradition continues under the management of Chui Chui who very graciously showed me the cuts of pork that they use at the restaurant. They are all fresh Indonesian pork and come in big slabs which include the rib cage and the back bone. They section off the backbones which they will specially cook for many hours in order to make the soup. The smaller rib bones are chopped up for their normal Bak Kut Teh while the prized prime ribs are sectioned off for their Prime Rib Bak Kut Teh. Each pig only yields around 12 to 14 prime ribs which is why these are so highly valued by Bak Kut Teh connoiseurs. Backbones being used to make the rich peppery soup The big difference between Singapore style Bak Kut Teh and Malaysian Style Bak Kut Teh is in the herbs used in the Malaysian Style Bak Kut Teh. Most of the Japanese that I have spoken to prefer the Singapore style soup because of its zen like simplicity. You can actually taste the natural pork flavour in the soup whereas in the Malaysian style Bak Kut Teh, it is the flavour of the herbs that dominate. I have eaten Malaysian style Bak Kut Teh on numerous occasions and I have also noticed that it is hard to get whole prime ribs in Malaysia. Whenever I ask for prime ribs, I usually get chopped up pieces of meat. I have never been able to get the whole prime rib like what you can find here at Founder. Chui Chui posing with the photo of her father in the background The Founder tradition is alive and well here at the Rangoon road branch. The soup has a wonderful peppery blast and a natural porky sweetness and the ribs are cooked till tender, but still springy to the bite. The great thing about the Rangoon road branch is that it is still easy to get a seat and there is an air con section as well as an al fresco section. Parking is also easy as there is a public carpark at the end of Rangoon Lane. The side dishes like the peanuts and chye buay could have been better though and the dark soy sauce just did not complement the pork as well as I would have liked. The pre-requisite tea sets and kettle trolleys are also available, so that you can have your formal tea ceremony before partaking of the pork rib soup. Remember that Bak Kut Teh is all about drinking Pork Rib Soup with Chinese Tea, so do order a nice Bu Zhi Xiang (不知香) to complement your soup, or else you would only be enjoying Bak Kut (Pork Rib) and not Bak Kut Teh! (Pork Rib Tea). The Bak Kut Teh tea ceremony is a major part of our culinary heritage, so make sure you get the authentic Bak Kut Teh experience the next time you partake of Bak Kut Teh! 4.5/5
  6. Ever since the guilty verdict in the Pirate Bay case was made final last year, Peter Sunde has been fighting his looming incarceration. However, this hasn't stopped him from looking ahead. Today the former Pirate Bay spokesman announces his next big move. Born in Sweden but with Finnish roots, Peter Sunde will run as candidate for Finland's Pirate Party in the European Parliament elections next year. The Pirate Party movement currently has two Swedish Members of Parliament in Europe. Through the 2014 elections the Pirates hope to add many more, as local parties are participating in many countries. With Sunde the Finnish party has definitely reeled in an outspoken candidate. 8. Singapore's Dr Joseph Ong, Founder Of Temasek Review, Just Got His Spy Cam Sex Tape Exposed Source: www.G****.com Politics in Singapore just got a little more interesting! Recently, Dr Joseph Ong Chor Teck was exposed by The New Paper as the founder of a local political website by the name of Temasek Review (TR) and the now defunct Wayang Party blog. The New Paper playfully called him"Doctor who?" because his identity was a mystery for so long. Shockingly, the man behind the controversial websites was discovered to be a medical doctor to the surprise of everyone. His political websites became notorious because of their shape criticism of the Singaporean Government, it's allegations against many people and political groups, threats to sue opponents in Singapore and other hard tactics. Temasek Review is one of the most popular socio-political websites in Singapore is access by at least 20,000 readers daily. And now there is a sex video circulating on the Internet allegedly of Dr Joseph Ong Chor Teck with a prostitute. Download the Sex Video After the Screen Shots Below! Dr Joseph Ong's websites have made him a long list of enemies in a very short period of time. Unbranded Bread n Butter compiled a short-list of people and groups that were attacked by websites now linked to the doctor: 1) Workers’ Party – the Wayang Party Blog owes its origins to mysterious “wayang party” fliers outside the WP 50th anniversary dinner. The press did an email interview with the site, only for the owner to deny involvement. Perhaps the Malay boys he had paid to put up the fliers will now have a name to go with his face. 2) SPH – TR has accused SPH and its blogger Geoffrey Pereira for grabbing contents of his site and initiating a DOS attack on it. 3) Remy Choo – Wayang Party informant exposes TOC then editor Remy Choo’s links to the PAP and begins inserting Trojan horses into the group 4) Kent Ridge Common – TR co-ops KRC writer Kelvin Teo and attempts to steal its intellectual property. 5) Teo Ho Pin – Wayang Party harasses Northwest CDC and alleges that staff there received 8 months bonuses 6) Foyce Le Xuan – TR ‘writer’ claims possession of sex tape between Foyce and Jack Neo. 7) YPAP – TR launches personal attacks against YPAP member Jack Lin and reveals his homosexual inclinations. TR also persistently attack YPAP leader Sinha Shekhar and attempts to get HDB to investigate him for illegal renting of HDB flat. And since his name was made public as the man behind Temasek Review, the investment company Temasek Holdings has delivered a letter to Dr Joseph Ong Chor Teck, asking him to drop the name "Temasek Review" from his website. The investment house's annual performance review has been called Temasek Review since 2004 and electronic versions are posted on it's website. This year's edition is called Temasek Report 2010 but Temasek Holdings said that the socio-political news site's that changed it's name from 'The Wayang Party' to 'The Temasek Review' in 2009 appeared to have been done so 'capitalizing on the goodwill and reputation' of the name. Temasek Holdings has challenged Dr Ong to 'live up' to the website's claims of valuing 'transparency, accountability and responsibility' and 'do the responsible thing to change the name of the website'. Legal action might be taken against Dr Joseph Ong on this matter. But Dr Ong has other things to think about now other than angry letters and lawsuits. People have been trying to dig up everything on him since the reports revealing the true identity of the anonymous writer of TR as Dr Joseph Ong. You would think a man with so many enemies would be more careful and avoid being in the situation to get recorded on a hidden spy cam. Or is this video a self-taped sex video he made himself because no one knew who he was before The New Paper ran the revealing story? One thing is for sure, we will never know who is really behind this leaked sex video. The funny thing is a TR 'writer' once claimed possession of sex tape between Foyce Le Xuan and Jack Neo. But the only sex tape in the possession of TR must be of it's founder. The hidden cam sex tape of Dr Joseph Ong first came to the attention of GutterUncensored.com last week when we received an email from a confidential source. Here is a potion of that email: I have a sex scandal tape from Singapore that I thought you might find titillatingly worthy of a site like yours. I trust you will keep my email confidential.:) Sometime in 2007, a local blog called the Wayang Party Club (wayangparty.com) was created to harass local opposition party Workers’ Party. “Wayang” here is linked to a malay traditional performance art of shadow puppet theater termed “wayang kulit”. The mysterious owner of this famous Singapore blog then changed this site to Temasek Review (temasekreview.com) I think sometime in 2009. What is interesting about this guy is that he went by many names and harassed many people ranging from opposition political parties, politicians, rival social political blogs and community leaders. Now the fun part. Last weekend, a local tabloid paper ran a front page story to expose the identity of the owner of the site, a local practicing doctor by the name Joseph Ong Chor Teck. He was caught distributing posters calling for the resignation of a poltician. With this revelation, the local internet community has gone wild trying to surface more information on this doctor. So far what is known is that he has graduated from prestigious schools (Raffles Juinor College and National University) and practices at a private clinic (Healthway Medical Clinic). Pictures of him are also appearing showing him at events that Temasek Review had covered. Needless to say, his style of concocting local scandals and spreading of lies is catching up with him in a big way. Some examples I can think of now is him spreading rumours of a opposition politician’s mistress, claims of having his site DOSed by a local press firm, and countless exclusive exposes involving various prominent persons. A few good resources for you to catch the flavour of it all (under the category “Temasek Review vs TNP”): http://singaporedaily.net/2010/10/11/daily-sg-11-oct-2010/. You can also see http://josephongchorteck.wordpress.com. Now the Juicy part…… Being an accomplished purveyor of adult AV and amateur porn, I am proud and freaking excited to say that I believe I have uncovered a self-taped sex video of Dr Joseph Ong! I didn’t believe it at first but careful inspection of images of him only validate my finding. I have compiled a fancy collage of his pictures against stills of the video and you can see for yourself...... I will see if I can dig out more videos of his. I think I’ve seen his naked butt more than once. :) The link to the video is here******************************************* It has been a while since we had a good scandal from Singapore…… have fun!
