Will be officially launching this weekend! To avoid the potential crowd, I went down to RM today to look at the real thing. 2 models available; 1.4A 5-dr & 1.4A 3-dr The design is indeed sleek , both interior & exterior. Leather. 15" alloy, Durashift 4 speed w manual override. Surprise that it is made in Germany! Slightly disappointed that the specs brought in is on the more scale down side compare to those in Europe. - 2 airbags only - No fog light; not even as optional - No push start button - Fewer colors options that those available in the UK site Reason given was to keep price competitive. Drive & handling is comparable to the Focus, steering obviously much lighter since is electric power assist. Well, since i'm no car critic, let's wait for those expert to provide their comments which should be out pretty soon. Is definetly one that i'm seriously considering.

Rally icon Ken Block has teamed up with Barcelona FC and Brazilian national football-squad star, Neymar Jr, to create the Footkhana film. Based on the popular Gymkhana videos that were pioneered by Block, Neymar Jr's skills and focus are put to the test as Block guides his Ford Fiesta rally car around the footballer in a series of sideways manoeuvres and tyre smoke. Meanwhile, Block matches the Brazilian star's precision by saving and scoring a number of goals with his Fiesta. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdBXpORSGu0 Freestyle footballers Andrew Henderson, Sean Garnier and Lassi Hurskainen also teamed up with the pairing to demonstrate their skills under the guidance of double FIFA World Cup winner, Cafu. "It has been amazing to work with Ken Block and the other freestylers," said Neymar Jr. "I can’t wait for football fans to see our freestyle tricks in action as we go head-to-head against Ken and his car. Block was equally as enthusiastic about the outing and commented: "I know my fans are going to enjoy this Footkhana film since it's a spin on my Gymkhana series, integrating some of the best freestyle football players in the world.”

Perhaps to prove that their 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine is truly a compact unit, Ford chose to transport it in a hand-carry cabin luggage on its way from Detroit to the Los Angeles Airport. The winner of the 2012 'International Engine of The Year' award claims to occupy only the footprint of an A4 size paper when it was launched. From the photo, only the empty engine block is carried and hence it should not be too heavy. Fortunately, the car engine passed the transportation security screening without any problem. The engine is on its way for the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. Ford is showing the engine to the US market in preparation for its launch in the 2014 model year Ford Fiesta. The tiny turbocharged 1.0-litre engine is the epitome of downsizing, churning out 125bhp with 200Nm of torque on overboost. In addition to the face-lifted Fiesta, the engine is also powering the Focus hatchback and the 4.8m all-new Ford Mondeo. Ford proves that great things do come in small packages!

At the recent 2012 Paris Motor Show, Ford showed the world the face-lifted Fiesta hatchback. Now, the blue oval brand revealed its sedan cousin at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. Like the hatchback version, the Fiesta sedan sports an Aston Martin-inspired grille. The revised car has narrower headlights and newly styled taillights. Although no interior images were released but one can expect changes made to the instrument cluster, steering wheel and door panels for the 2013 Fiesta hatchback to feature in the sedan version as well. The 2012 Geneva Motor Show has brought many automakers to the land famous for founding the Red Cross, chocolates, fine timepieces and etc. During this event, Ford has plenty to show the world what they have come up with. Other than the Fiesta ST, Tourneo concept van and the Kuga (or Escape), Ford has unveiled an important model which is the B-Max. You might ask; why is it important? Firstly, the B-Max targets the mini MPV market segment which has increased in popularity. A mini MPV is suitable for those who are looking for a car that provides extra space but not too large in overall dimensions (easy to manoeuvre around). And the B-Max offers not only that but something else that is rather innovative. The B-Max is based on the same platform used on the Fiesta and it does not have a B-pillar. Ford has emphasised that this feature is mainly for easy access into the rear seating area. How did Ford achieve this? This ingenious design integrates the central body pillars into the hinged front doors and the rear sliding doors. The usage of ultra high-strength steel for the integrated central body pillars offers five times more strength, if compared to the usage of ordinary mild steel. And Ford has ensured that this provides excellent crash protection especially from a side impact. This unique feature creates a wide opening which enables someone to load or unload bulky items and it is also useful for large sized passengers to move in and out of the rear passenger compartment. The B-Max is available with several petrol and engine types and the highlight is the all-new 1.0 litre, three cylinder engine from the EcoBoost engine family. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual- clutch transmission and it features a turbocharged direct injection and also a start-stop system. The Ford B-Max will go on sale in Europe later this year as a 2013 model. Photo credit: Net Car Show and Auto Blog

Ford is working on a more powerful 1 litre EcoBoost engine
FaezClutchless posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Performance cars usually rely on large displacement engines that deliver high power. But technologies such as turbocharging and direct injection have changed things nowadays and Ford is looking at a more powerful version of its 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine. Ford officially introduced its 1.0 litre turbocharged three cylinder EcoBoost engine late last year. It was developed by Ford engineers in the United Kingdom and the engine generates around 123bhp. The engine will be used in the Ford Focus and a 100bhp version will be introduced in Ford models such as the C-Max, Grand C-Max and B-Max. Normally, we won- 2 comments

Ford introduced its rally dedicated Fiesta RS WRC at the Paris Auto Show. Built around a 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the Fiesta RS WRC likely milks something north of 400 horsepower from its tiny displacement, though Ford hasn't announced the official output specs. The jump to the smaller engine is driven by the WRC's adoption of Super 2000 rules for 2011, which mandates a maximum displacement of 1.6 liters. Design by Ford of Europe with help from rally partner M-Sport, the Fiesta RS WRC is based on the Fiesta S2000 rally car that won the Monte Carlo Rally. French engine tuner Pipo Moteur has also pitched in to help maximize the power from the small mill. Testing for the new car begins on gravel in Spain next week, though it has already completed nearly 2,000 miles of testing during development in the U.K. and France. Ford WRC factory drivers Jari-Matti Latvala and Mikko Hirvonen will be behind the wheel of the test vehicles. The Ford RS WRC will have its virgin rally at Sweden come 10 to 13th February 2011.

Ford invests US$450million to build a passenger car plant in Thailand
Rigval posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
FoMoCo, or the Ford Motor Company had last Thursday announced a US$450 million plan to build a new vehicle manufacturing plant in Rayong, Thailand. The plant will produce passenger cars mainly for the ASEAN market as well as the Australia-Oceania region and will have an annual capacity of 150,000 units. This new plant, scheduled for completion in 2012 is part of the automotive giant's expansion campaign in Asia. Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa had stated that this news, "certainly reaffirms the vital role that Thailand has and will continue to play as a global production and export base for Ford Motor Company." The new plant will be set up to produce the next generation Ford Focus and the plant will be the second manufacturing plant by Ford in Thailand after the joint Ford-Mazda plant totaling US$50 at Auto Alliance Thailand (AAT) in 2007. This plant which currently produces the Mazda 2 sedan & hatchback for Thailand and Malaysia is also in Rayong and has an annual production capacity which is planned to produce 275,000 units annually and is scheduled to begin production of the ASEAN market Ford Fiesta (both sedan and hatchback) soon. The new plant will be located close to the AAT plant and will be a highly flexible in nature; capable of producing a diversified range of products when there is demand and requirement. Ford is planning to expand its product portfolio in Thailand as well as throughout Asia. Up to 85 percent of the plant's production will be for markets outside Thailand. Thailand was chosen because it has a world-class supply base for the auto industry, highly efficient logistics network, highly skilled workforce and the consistent support from the Thai government. Thailand, according to Ford has continually proved its automotive competitive strength in the international auto industry. The reason for Ford's seeming rapid expansion in Asia (totaling close to US$1 billion in South East Asia alone) is that Asia is expected to account for roughly 40% of the growth in the auto industry over the next five to seven years. The expansion campaign includes another investment total of US$1 billion to further expand Ford's operations in China and to meet the explosive demand for autos in that market. Ford also has facilities in India another market with a huge population, which Ford wants to see it become a global manufacturing and export hub for small-

The Ford Fiesta made its ASEAN debut at the recent Thailand International Motor Expo, and will go into production next year at the AutoAlliance Thailand plant. The USD 500 million facility is a joint venture between Mazda and Ford. The Thai factory will supply Fiestas to the ASEAN region, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa , which are all the major right-hand drive markets. A sedan version of the Fiesta will be made available at a later date. Over the past 10 years, more car manufacturers are moving their production to Asean cities to lower their production and probably distribution cost. However, consumers do not really benefit much from this. For example, a 2.0L Thailand made Toyota Camry is going at SGD 98,488 whereas a Japan sourced 2.0L Nissan Teana is priced at SGD 89,500 (source: www.sgcarmart.com, data updated as of 10 Dec 09).
