Ms Chow May Kee, who called Channel NewsAsia’s hotline at about 3pm, said that the second and third floors of the mall were flooded after a heavy downpour, and there was water flowing down the staircase of the second level. The National Environment Agency had earlier issued an advisory, warning that thunderstorms with gusty winds were expected over many areas of Singapore between 3.10pm and 4pm. 9. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_677946.html READERS of citizen journalism site STOMP reported and shared pictures of floods at blocks in Jurong and Choa Chu Kang late on Wednesday after a heavy downpour. The National Environment Agency had earlier issued a heavy rain warning about showers between 11.10pm and 12.10am. At least two HDB blocks in western Singapore were affected. One STOMP user, FloodLAH, said the multi-purpose hall at Blk 297, Choa Chu Kang Ave 2, was flooded. 'The water was about ankle-deep,' the user said. Another STOMP user, a resident of Blk 221A in Jurong East Street 21, said the water makes it difficult to locate the drains. 'Metal covers are not installed over the drains near the flooding area and the muddy water makes it difficult to see and locate the drains,' the STOMP user said.
  10. As the 2nd hand car market sales is picking up, so are the number of cars that has suffered flood damage to be put on sale. To make things worse, even car inspection centers seems to be not very reliable when it comes to accident/flood detection. Lets share some knowledge here on how to identify a car that has suffered flood damage. I believe there are many gurus in MCFs that can shed some light on this. Also, for people who have experience driving a flood damaged car, do share the sort of problems encountered and remedies.

  15. Hi a friend of mine has his car flooded by heavy downpour in an open carpark. The carpet was filled with water. Fortunately that is about it, no further damage to the critical parts of the car. However, after clearing all the water and drying, the underlying layer of insulation material is still wet tho the top carpet seems dry. As a result the car will have a stale smell without verntilation and after the windows are closed for awhile. Using anti-odour spray is useless. Using humidifier is also not effective. Tried blowing and steaming in gromming center, helps a little but still cannot dry. anybody faced the same predicament and has found the best solution?
