On November 29, 2010 the Fiat Group announced that it will complete the separation of its car manufacturing division and its truck and tractor division by the 1st of January 2011. The separation will enable both divisions to have a clear focus on their core businesses.
The separation will create Fiat SpA, which will handle all car related matters and Fiat Industrial SpA, which will handle the Group's commercial vehicles, trucks, agricultural & construction equipment as well as some of the powertrain divisions within the Group. Each new group will have their own management team and its own board of directors.
The separation also allows both Fiat SpA and Fiat Industrial SpA to be listed separately on the Milan Stock Exchange. Allowing for more shareholding to be traded and more investors too.
The announcement previewed the new logos of the newly formed groups which basically replace the group logo (shown below). Maybe with this we'll see better Fiats, Lancias, Alfa Romeos and Chryslers (of which Fiat owns 20%) and maybe better Iveco trucks too.
