  1. The words 'pork fat' and 'nutritious' don't quite go together, but that may soon change, given a surprising finding by scientists which was first published in 2015 but went viral only recently. According to a BBC report in January, researchers who analysed more than 1,000 raw foods found that lard is among the top 10 foods which provide the best balance of a person's daily nutritional requirements Pork fat was ranked 8th in a list of 100 foods, with a nutritional score of 74 - the higher the number, the more likely it will meet your daily nutritional needs. It is listed as containing "a good source of B vitamins and minerals" as well as being "more unsaturated and healthier than lamb or beef fat". Here are the top 10 most nutritious foods and their nutritional scores, according to the study: 1. Almonds, 97 2. Cherimoya (a type of fruit), 96 3. Ocean perch (a deep-water fish), 89 4. Flatfish, 88 5. Chia seeds, 85 6. Pumpkin seeds, 84 7. Swiss chard, 78 8. Pork fat, 73 9. Beet greens, 70 10. Snapper, 69 In addition, pork fat contains oleic acid with 60% monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated oleic acid has been found to be good for the heart, arteries and skin, and also helps to regulate hormones. As a comparison, butter contains 45% monounsaturated fat But as with many things, moderation is key. Excessive consumption of fat can lead to obesity, according to a Singapore-based nutritionist interviewed by the Chinese daily. "As long as it's pure and unprocessed, it can be beneficial for the body," said the nutritionist. But she recommends not consuming more than six spoonfuls a day, and stresses the importance of a balanced diet: "For example, meat is a better source of Vitamin B than fat, and essential omega-3 fatty acids are obtained from other foods." Still, it's good news for the rest of us who can tuck into our favourite roast pork or kou rou bao (pork belly bun) with just a little less guilt.
  2. Took MRT the other day. Train quite empty & got seat so i sat (not reserved seat). Then next station, suddenly alot of ppl came in and ppl all chiong for seat. Then saw this woman walk in nearby and stood up (not in front of me). As usual, the ppl she stood in front of suddenly kena sleeping bug attack. She maciam got slight tummy like 3-4 mths pregnant liddat. But she was also abit on the plump side. So dunno if pregnant or juz fat. Anyway, stood up to offer her my seat but dunno if she will kena insulted if i suggest she was pregnant. But as usual, once i stood up, the other vultures zoomed in. Got off at the next stop. Qn is; how to tell is someone is pregnant or juz fat?

Lately I have been meeting up with old friends and I start to feel pissed off when our conversation focussed on my weight and singlehood. I mean like. If I am fat, what is TT to you and if I am single, tts my choice. Sometimes the focus is so much until I dun feel like talking anymore...... Like there is no other topic. Any Bros here have any similar experience ? How do you handle it? For me. I simply learn to choose my friends better.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a new report on obesity in the U.S. According to the study, the U.S. witnessed a 1.1 percent increase in the number of self-reported people with obesity between 2007 and 2009. The increase amounts to 2.4 million additional Americans admitting that they have joined the category of obese individuals. In addition, the number of states reporting that at least 30 percent of its population fit into the obese category has tripled to include nine states. Rising obesity rates have led to increased medical costs and other public issues, but the automotive industry has felt the added weight as well. According to the study, an estimated one billion gallons of extra fuel were used up to compensate for the added weight of drivers and passengers from 1960 to 2002. If you look at it another way, 0.7 percent of all the fuel burned in vehicles from 1960 to 2002 has been attributable to passengers who have packed on a few extra pounds. From another angle, 39 million gallons of fuel are burned for each pound gained by the average American. So, if you are eco-conscious or intend to reduce fuel cost, think twice before you swallow that double cheese burger next time.
