PMD explodes in children's bedroom of Bukit Batok flat She was in the living room watching television with her parents and two children when she heard four blasts from the children's bedroom. The 29-year-old, who wanted to be known only as Ms Ainn, a patient care worker, told Chinese-language newspaper Lianhe Zaobao that after the explosions, she saw thick smoke and fire coming from her children's bedroom. In response to queries from The New Paper, a spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at Block 464A Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 on Saturday (June 20) at 5.46pm. The fire, which involved a battery unit of a personal mobility device (PMD) in the bedroom of the flat, was extinguished by the occupants before SCDF's arrival, the spokesman added. "Two adults and two children self-evacuated from the unit before SCDF's arrival, and one person from the unit was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital," the spokesman added. Ms Ainn told Zaobao that she had fled to her neighbour's flat with her mother and children and asked her neighbours to call SCDF while her father extinguished the fire using a hose from the bathroom. She said he managed to put out most of the fire before the SCDF arrived. The situation was so chaotic that her two children, aged three and five, were crying and in shock. Her mother felt faint and dizzy after inhaling the smoke and was taken to hospital.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156444244982134&id=615127133 On 19/1/2020 My friends and I were having steamboat at my place. About 30 minutes into the dinner, my dining table "EXPLODED" and the entire tempered glass top shattered into pieces. Now, steamboat lovers would know the potential devastation when a hotpot pot were to be toppled/spilled over. Now x10 of the damage because of the sudden shatter with glass flying everywhere. After the incident happened, all of us sat there in shock, and we couldn't do anything as there were glass shards and hot soup everywhere. *please take a look at the picture to visualise the amount of damage done* we immediately called the ambulance and paramedics came down to rescue us. With all my guests injured, some with cuts bigger than the size of an eye. I myself was brought to NTF for treatment of 2nd degree burns. I understand that there is a potential possibility of thermal stress that may occur on a tempered glass even though it is supposed to be tough, with 15mm of thickness. With no right or wrong answer to how much heat and duration will cause a tempered glass from shattering, we were unfortunate enough to experience this traumatic experience. Damage occurred: 1. New kitchenware 2. Lots of injury (blood spilt everywhere) 3. A&E medical attention + follow up appointments 4. Blood stain on wall and sofa 5. Blood seeping into grout (have to dig out and reapply grout as there is no way we can clean it) 6. Food 😞 It was supposed to be a joyous gathering between my friends. But it ended up being a traumatizing experience. I hope my story will be a warning towards all tempered glass top table owners. We have contacted the furniture company to ask for their course of compensation, unfortunately, the director of the company said that the best that he can do for us is to replace a brand new laminated table top for us as the base of our table is still intact. (Not even an entirely new table) - but that's besides the point - what we were looking for was minimally some responsibility on the company's end... to cover the medical bills and repair costs. Would I be able to eat in peace at my own dining table in future, wondering about the safety of the table from the same company? We shifted into our brand new home, with brand new furniture for the entire house, all ready to celebrate our first CNY at our new house. Instead, my husband and I were left speechless with all the mess left behind. When I came home from NTF last night, I broke down and cried when we opened the door. My house is in a mess and it smells like a crime scene of a murder. But well....... thankfully it was not during the actual CNY, where elderlies and babies/children could have been severely injured. A documentary video from CNA Insider showing us about the explosive facts of overcharging a bargain-price lithium-ion battery. This applies to mobile phone and other batteries that are lithium-ion. But PMD' owners, please take note. You guys have higher risk involved. Due to the sheer size of the batteries. So you must be wondering, how dangerous it can be right? CNA Insider has gotten a professor from NUS, Dr Palani Balaya to demonstrate how overcharging lithium-ion batteries can be dangerous. So here's a lithium-ion cell This cell should take 3 volts to charge. Let's ramp it up to 5 volts! ⚡️ Okay. Something is growing. . . For those who are watching the video, fret not. No need to move back from your screen. Do you notice the smoke? More smoke. And it goes. . . Kabooz!!!! Oh my goodness!@#$%!@#$ So imagine this is multiplied to the size of a scooter. To avoid all these mishaps, please look out for battery certification. For the full video, please watch from here. The silver lining is the rest of the people on the plane survived... Can't imagine what went through their mind from the time it happened, until the time the plane managed to land... http://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/southwest-plane-makes-emergency-landing-in-philly-damage-to-exterior Southwest Airlines plane's engine explodes in mid-air; woman passenger killed after nearly sucked out of window PHILADELPHIA (REUTERS) - An engine on a Dallas-bound Southwest Airlines flight with 149 people aboard apparently exploded on Tuesday (April 17), forcing an emergency landing in Philadelphia as one passenger was killed after she was nearly sucked out a window of the plane, the airline and federal officials said. The fatality on the flight from New York was the first in a US commercial aviation accident since 2009, according to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) statistics. After an engine on the plane's left side blew, it threw off shrapnel, shattering a window and causing cabin depressurisation that nearly pulled out a female passenger, according to witness accounts and local news media reports.

Now that taxis are going to cost a bomb... I foresee many executives currently taking taxis to start considering getting a car. This fare hike is quite jialat... and many will feel the pinch of taking taxis. Last weekend already saw packed crowds at major car dealers like Borneo, Kah motors and even korean brands like Kia etc... (most probably due to return from holiday, fat bonuses, CNY etc) Now with this blow of taxi costs increasing, I won't be surprised another horde of crowd start streaming into showrooms to look at cars. I think next round COE for cat A sure explode upwards. My friends at the major car dealers also feel the same. I got one fren at Borneo closed more than 10 deals over the last weekend... quite a significant jump from previous months. I think those who want to book cars better do so fast cos once the quotas hit, car dealers will start increasing the prices (to accommodate for higher COEs)!
