  1. Another day, another PAB/PMD story. Why is it always the younger people using these? What happened? At 1.32 A.M, a PMD and PAB (Power Assisted Bicycle) were spotted going over 60km/h on Jalan Eunos. The PMD is initially in the lead but that changes at 0:34 in the video, when the PAB surges past the PMD like a turbo kicked in. Impressively, it looks like this was all while the PAB rider was using one hand to keep the bike steady as he held a flashing traffic wand in his left hand (our aforementioned lightsaber). His passenger held a flashing traffic wand in his right hand as well in order to keep things perfectly balanced, as all things should be. So? As cool as this may be, it doesn’t change the fact that the riders were breaking the law and endangering themselves, as well as other motorists. People caught up on this too. Others asked what would the LTA and traffic police do to stop this from happening. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. A video of a Hyundai i30 nearly driving into a cam car has been uploaded on Facebook. But who really is at fault? Watch the video to decide. Watch the video of how the incident unfolded here: In the video, the cam car is casually driving straight down Eunos Road, when the Hyundai i30 seen dashes out, almost causing himself a massive T-bone. Luckily the cam car driver was quick enough to jam brake. The cam car driver then turns to the right lane, and according to him, proceeds to get hounded by the Hyundai i30 by getting tailgated. Extra irritation and frustration was caused to the cam car driver due to the Hyundai i30's loud exhaust. From the video, it really looks like the Hyundai i30 driver was at fault. But what if I told you there was another side to the story? According to this facebook user who was at the incident, he claims that the cam car had signalled left, therefore it was the cam car's fault that he proceeded to go straight instead. He also goes on to accuse the cam car (who was apparently driving a Mitsubishi Attrage) of having 'offended him in the past'. A bold claim if true. It certainly brings another perspective to the saga. Another commenter made a fine point against the cam car driver. He pointed out how the cam car driver was also being reckless by suddenly swerving to the right, most likely not having checked his mirror doing so. So it seems that this case might be an ambiguous one. Although it seems like the Hyundai i30 is clearly at fault in the video, the netizen, if his claims are true, would paint the cam car driver might not turn out to be the saint that he is. Regardless of who is most at fault in this incident, we feel that the Hyundai i30 driver could have waited for the cam car driver to turn into the left lane (if he was actually signalling left), before coming out of the side road. This is an extra step of precaution that would make things safer for everyone. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. I think everyone agrees that we hate people who treat our public roads like their grandfather's road... Not saying we justify the road rage, or any middle fingers, or license-plate ripping or throwing... 🤪 (if you know, you know!), but we do understand the anger some feel when having to share the driving space with others who are sibei inconsiderate! Recently, in Eunos Crescent, a Honda Vezel decided to play punk in the neighbourhood--- not only did they beat a red light, they performed an illegal U-turn as well! Furthermore, this was with other cars on the road, including one it was coming head-to-head with, and a pedestrian in the near vicinity. For those who do not mind the seething rage you will feel, you are welcome to watch the video footage here below: 293450419_181350937619198_4096779857651268986_n.mp4 Shake my head man. According to the Singapore Traffic Police, the penalty for failing to conform to traffic signals is a fine of $400 for light vehicles, $500 for heavy vehicles, along with 12 demerit points for the errant driver. The penalty for making an illegal U-turn is a fine of $70. Wow, imagine all the gas you could buy with that money! The dashcam of a fellow driver captured everything. At first, everything seems normal, just a quiet night in the streets of the East... Hey, wait a minute! Did that Vezel just beat the red light? Whoa! That's a violation! Oh man... There's another car there! Siau or what?? Is he doing what we think he's doing? Oh boy, here comes the U-turn... Dangerous? Inconsiderate? Both! Man, I cannot believe what I just saw. Needless to say, this driver has gathered the ire of many a netizen in the comment section of the Facebook page the incriminating video was posted on: This commentator has a sense of humour! Haha. Whereas some made some observations and some detective work which they subsequently shared with everyone... No comment here. We do not discriminate against PHVs at mycarforum OK. Hm? 9 out of 10 of what? Could this netizen be possibly referring to Honda Vezel drivers..? Well, again, this is a statement we can neither confirm nor deny... Lastly, there was an interesting comment that we sighted: Huh, is that so! Well, well, well. I think we can all agree though: what the Vezel driver did was definitely not right, nor happily received! The verdict is... Yes, it may have been in the wee hours of morning. Not a lot of cars then, nor many pedestrians. But the Vezel still shouldn't have done that. Traffic rules exist and are put into place for a reason. It was super dangerous because of the presence of other road users, such as the oncoming car and the lone pedestrian, yet more vulnerable due to them not being in any vehicle of sorts. Wouldn't you feel guilty if your rashness were to cause injuries to others or even... the loss of a life? That's not your call to make, man. Only God's. Don't play play hor, please. While we can only pray that everyone around us sticks to the rules, we should also abide by them ourselves... and always stay vigilant too. Take care on the roads, readers! (Psst, if anyone wants to share about Honda Vezel drivers or if you've had a similar experience... can just comment down here or share!) ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. <Designer Of The Mazda Miata, Shunji Tanaka, Dies Aged 75 Thanks for everything, Tanaka-San. Shunji Tanaka, the chief designer of the original (NA) Mazda MX-5 Miata, has passed away. The announcement was made on Facebook by a close friend and chairperson of the MX-5 Club Tanaka was a member of, Mr. Katsuyuki Satake. A translation by a fellow enthusiast alerted CarBuzz to the news with a simple statement, "I'm so sorry to announce that Mr. Tanaka, the Chief Designer of NA MX-5 has passed away on Dec. 12th at the age of 75." Apparently, Mr. Tanaka's last words were, "I have no regret in my life." It's unclear what Tanaka died of, but he was right, not having any regrets. He gave the world the seminal small sports car. The Miata is the Porsche 911 of small sports cars and has a legacy and reputation some manufacturers can only dream of. Mazda Friends Of MX-5/Facebook Mazda Mazda Mazda It remains the world's best-selling sports car and one of the most affordable ways for automotive enthusiasts to have fun. Mazda may be moving over to hybrid power for the MX-5 in future, but we're sure the fun element will be retained. For now, it remains true to its origins. Despite being head designer of the Miata, Tanaka did not get as much attention as the lead engineers, Toshihiko Hirai and Takao Kijima. These two men were responsible for making the Miata the epic driving tool, while Tanaka was responsible for the exterior and interior design. While the Miata certainly deserves praise as a driving tool, the design is as much a part of a very successful and lucrative roadster. Before the Miata came along, the roadster had all but died out. It continued the ethos of British roadsters but rectified their build quality and reliability issues for a complete package like no other. Friends of MX-5 Miata/Facebook Mazda MX-5 Miata 25 years The NA Miata was such a hit, an entire book was written about it when it turned 25. As you can see, the famous pop-up headlights and smiling face were always a part of the design, inspired by the Lotus Elan. According to Tanaka, the concept for the Miata was a "Swinging Time Machine." In short, it was a symbol of freedom and meant to provide a thrilling open-top experience that brought the driver closer to nature. Many people don't know this, but the first concept was designed in California. Mazda approved the project, which sparked the initial design phase. After completing the project, it was shipped to Japan, where a disapproving Tanaka met it. Mazda MX-5 Miata 25 years MX-5 Miata Forum MX-5 Miata Forum According to interviews with Tanaka, he thought the design was too Americanized, and there was no way to identify it as a lightweight sports car. He didn't beat around the bush. He also said the US team must have "eaten too much steak and forgotten the delicacy of Japanese cuisine." You can see the difference between the California concept and Tanaka's clay model in the photos above, with the redesign taking influence from his wife's love of Japanese Noh masks that seemingly change expression depending on the angle they are viewed from. Whether his comments were too harsh or not, history speaks for itself. The NA Miata is a driving and design icon, and Shunji Tanaka was responsible for half of that. Rest in peace Tanaka-San. Your legacy lives on in the heart of every Miata fan. Kenji Matsuda/Facebook Friends of MX-5 Miata/Facebook 佐竹克行/Facebook 佐竹克行/Facebook>
  5. A BMW M5 was caught speeding recklessly and beating the red light along Still Road on Wednesday (June 9) night. The 39-second clip shows multiple views of the speeding vehicle from a camcar that was at the traffic junction. According to the Road Traffic Act, drivers caught speeding will be awarded demerit points and a composition fine. After watching the video, there is no doubt that the BMW had exceeded the speed limit. Drivers who are caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h would receive 12 to 24 demerit points, along with a mandatory prosecution in court. Additionally, beating the red light will incur a fine of up to $400 and another 12 demerit points. With the recent news of actor Gurmit Singh receiving an $800 fine for speeding, I had expected Singaporeans to be more mindful and to avoid speeding on empty roads. Netizens' reactions Honestly, the few minutes that you save on your trip is not worth the consequences that come along with it. Be it an exorbitant fine or a potentially fatal car accident, you would have wished that you didn’t speed in the first place.
  6. My friend went to Sung Beng to have his stereo fixed(pulling of cables for amp and 4 speakers with installation of 4 speakers). He was quoted $400 for the job, which seems ridiculously high. So after some negotiation, the price was dropped to $280 which imo still expensive as I have been quoted $100 for pulling cables and $40 per pair of speakers. Note that all cables and equipment were self provided. Anyway, they claim that they do a detailed job, therefore their prices are so high. Since they claim to be professionals, friend agreed to let them do it. Upon completion and to our horror, we found that they pulled the speaker cables from the amps to the headunit and connect it back to the speakers via the stock cables. Sad... $280 for a job that seems like $80 worth. Just to warn brudders who are looking for an installer.
  7. Hi, I am trying to look for the driver of a black Merc C180 with the VRN SKC 40 09 D. My father when driving this morning, unfortunately scratched this car slightly, and although they both got down to look, the traffic was heavy (2 lanes out of 4 were blocked by them), and under the unfamiliar situation, my father didn't exchange details with the lady driver, and instead asked her to claim insurance before leaving 🤦‍♂️ Does anyone here happen to know the driver or owner of the car? I'll like to get in touch with her to apologise and follow up with her. It happened in Eunos Link just under the PIE flyover, around 10+ am. Thanks!
  8. Early Sunday morning at 5.00am, my wife received a call from her company worker that one of the worker (Indian national) was involved in a hit-and-run accident along Jalan Eunos. Whilst the worker was on the way to CGH, he died. The workers were laying cables at man-holes along the road with all the necessary warning lights & equipment but a taxi came and hit one of the worker & sped away. The taxi left behind the front mudguard and the top taxi display light 'indicator'. The accident happen at around 4.30am. Just to appeal any eye witness who happen to travel around this time and saw the accident. TP is currently investigating the hit-and-run accident. Wife had to go to office early morning to prepare reports with regards to the incident and does the necessary to send the body back. Came back only in the afternoon. So irresponsible of the taxi driver who doesn't even stop to help.

  12. WTF is this? Totally appalled. Thank goodness the baby was saved in the nick of time. http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNews...419-274562.html A newborn baby was found buried alive yesterday afternoon, in a flower patch located at Eunos block 31A, reported the Shin Min Daily News. A resident, Mr Tay, 60, was at the sixth floor sky garden at block 31A at around 2pm when he heard crying noises coming from the plot of plants and flowers behind him. The retiree told a reporter from the Chinese daily that the cry sounded like it was made by a cat, and dismissed it at first. However, he felt something was amiss when he did not see any animal in sight. Mr Tay then used his hands to check if anything was hiding among the flowers, and was shocked to discover two tiny feet peeking out from beneath the soil. "I asked my friend to come and take a look, I thought it was a doll at first," said Mr Tay. Curious, Mr Tay then climbed over and into the flower patch. He removed the soil covering and was alarmed to find the baby, who was still alive. Mr Tay immediately pulled the baby out. Describing the baby as small and dark-skinned, Mr Tay said the baby was bare-bodied, except for a black 'rope' made of plastic wound tightly around his neck. His umbilical cord was still attached. Miraculously, the baby was still breathing, but was very weak. "The baby's eyes were open, and his mouth and ears were filled with soil. He was crying non-stop, it was a pitiful sight," said Mr Tay, who immediately called the police. Mr Tay estimates that the baby had been buried under about five centimetres of soil. He says the baby is lucky to survive, 'probably because of its strong will to live', said Mr Tay. Mr Tay said police found a blood-soaked singlet 10 metres away, which is believed to be related to the case. Droplets of blood were also found at the staircase landing near the site where the newborn was found.

  24. This afternoon, there was quite a heavy rain along Jalan Eunos headed north to Hougang. My car went thru about 2 inch of water and ahead of me was a white Mercedes Benz with its front wrapped around a tree and part of its buttock on Lane One The driver was still pinned inside and resting against the steering column. Not sure how he ended up there as the road was curving to the right. Wet roads out there today. Drive safely everyone
  25. Hi Bros & Sis, Before I bought my Matrix, I saw this black Matrix parked at a parking lot right in front of Eunos MRT station twice. It's very sporty. Dark tinted glass windows, comes with full skirting and the word "MATRIX" in black and white sticked at the backseat window. It really caught my attention. Would like to know who that particular car belongs to as I would like to pose a few questions pertaining to that car.
