Mitsubishi ASX with CVT (3 months) Got this problem in the mornings when engaging the reverse gear after the car is parked overnight on a level ground. It only happens when shifting from "P" to "R" where a loud sound (like something grinding or cracking) is heard and the car reverses normally....

Just now my car was on a downslope then I engaged e-brake and then changed to P gear cos I had to insert cashcard into the machine cos I drove too far from it. Then when I changed back to D, it gave this groaning sound. Why is this? Will it damage gearbox or something? Thanks
