Jaguar has an idea for an electric roadster that would blend classic lines with modern aerodynamics and cutting-edge energy feedback. The idea is to revive the timeless design language of the stunning E-type of the 1960s while integrating new aerodynamics tailored around an electric powerplant. Being an EV, the designers could concentrate more on aerodynamics due to smaller dimensions of the engine and flexibility of the battery's placement. The result is widening the side deflectors of the front intakes, allowing air to flow behind the front wheels. The air then slides along the doors, through the rear wheels and out from the huge rear openings. This results in a reduction in the total flow path and drag. The leaping jaguar logo is the inspiration for the profile, with aggressively styled front headlights. A cool feature are the folding side mirrors that disappear into the body and unfold once it turns on, besides a KERS like regenerative power system. Almost 60 percent of energy used by a car at highway speeds are spent countering air friction. As such a layer of microscopic ripples of piezoelectric cells, covers the body of the XKX concept which produces electricity that it feeds to the vehicle's battery. I like the idea Jaguar has implemented to improve aerodynamics as much as possible, but I wouldn't call the car exactly a looker. Also, personally I do not see any resemblance to the beautiful Jaguar E-Type besides the mild bulge on the hood. What do you guys think?
