https://www.independent.co.uk/space/chandrayaan-3-budget-india-interstellar-b2399203.html Some houses cost less than Indian space agency spent on getting to the Moon India has successfully landed on the Moon – for less than the cost of the film Interstellar. The Indian space agency announced on Wednesday that it had completed a “soft landing” on the lunar surface, near its southern pole. It becomes the first ever to land there, and just the fourth country to successfully send a mission to the Moon at all. And it did so on a very restrictive budget. The Chandrayaan-3 cost was sent to the Moon at a cost of about 6.15 billion rupees, or $75 million, according to Reuters. That is less than the cost of most blockbuster space films. Gravity cost $100 million, The Martian cost $108 million – and it was less than half the cost of Interstellar, which was filmed on a budget of $165 million. It even costs less than some houses. The UK’s most expensive house, for instance, went on sale at £200 million, or nearly three-and-a-half missions to the Moon. The budget is even less than India allocated to Chandrayaan-2, the previous attempt to land on the Moon in 2019, which ended in failure when the lander crashed. That cost around 8 billion rupees, or about 30 per cent more than the latest successful mission, though engineers have made clear that many of the learnings from that earlier launch had been integrated into the latest one. India has looked to build a reputation for cost-effective but still successful missions to space. It comes as the country encourages investment in the private space industry and businesses focused on satellites. The price of the whole Indian mission is similar to that charged by SpaceX for one Falcon 9 launch. That is charged at $67 million, according to its website.

It's time for me to replace my tyres. I am now using Hankook Ventus ME01 size 215/55/R17. The dry grip is ok but the wet grip is horrendous. However, it is relatively quiet tyre. I am looking to change to goodyear efficientgrip performance Does anyone know any distributor in the West?

yest thunder storm. entire flat's electrical system tripped. went out to reset the circuit. after that, flat has electricity but no internet. apparently, my neighbours are all affected. 2 sets of traffic lights outside not working. it happened around 7pm i went to bathe and 15 mins later, surprisingly, everything went back to normal! i seriously feel that such efficiency cannot be achieved else where. i mean, 15 mins? its really fast! im not sure how the solve the problem but its quick and efficient!

From July 1, car buyers who want to buy a car model with better fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions will find it easier to do so with help from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) which is going to launch three new initiatives. In preparation for the Carbon Emissions-based Vehicle (CEV) scheme, the LTA will take over the administration of the Fuel Economy Labelling Scheme (FELS) from the National Environment Agency, a LTA spokesman said on Wednesday. The new initiatives include a fuel economy label which will highlight the model's carbon emissions per km, fuel consumption and relative carbon emission performance. The label will also show the car banding under the upcoming scheme and corresponding rebate or surcharge to encourage consumers to shift to more fuel efficient and lower carbon emission models. A new brochure on the labelling scheme, aimed at buyers on the advantages of choosing fuel efficient cars, how to read the new fuel economy label, and the CEV scheme will be available at all car showrooms. Hi all, I've been seeing praises in the forum that the new JB CIQ at Woodlands is more efficient than ours. Those who like the processing efficiency of the new JB CIQ, probably due to less congestion and speedier processing. Of course, there is this issue of better security at SG side resulting in greater inconvenience. Are there better ways to improve efficiency without compromsing on security? Are we doing enough or overdoing the security check? Cast your vote. Thank you. Regards,
-
Hi all, I personally find the new JB CIQ more efficient than the old one. For those of us who have used the old CIQ for ages, you actually see less congestion, less opportunity for people to cut queue and traffic is also more orderly. Those things that I found attracting alot of attentions are the curvy upbridge, white cards, high humps and longer route to places than one used to visit like the City Square. However think about the previous situation where cars like to cut queues right infront of the custom booth. About the white cards, they are more generous in giving white cards I thought, some custom officers are also kind enough to give you some at the booth. The new CIQ also eases up congestion that used to ply infront of City Square. Going to Tebrau City is also smoother from new CIQ. Going back to SG via new CIQ is also better. No longer we see side mirror brushing each other and beggers walking dangerously before the custom booth. The overall experience is good . Regards,

Looking for a used one, fuel efficiency (for short errand runs) is a very important criteria, do you guys think the Jazz/Fit gives THE best fuel economy of all small cars?
-
Dear all, wondering if TFSI engines are more efficient than conventional engine of the same capacity. Any owners would like to share their experiences ?

Leave engine on for 15 mins (idling, only aircon and radio left on) OR parking the car and incur 50 cents carpark coupon? anyone done any research on this before?

For those drivers out there wanting a more fuel efficient drive, check out the driving techniques in the website : www.cleanmpg.com it gave an insight on how the previous winner driving an automatic Sonata during the Shell Challenge was able to achieve 30+km/litre. He probably had used some of the techniques described in the website. Please ignore some of the extreme techniques described such as switching off the engine, it is dangerous!!

Just pondering, many users gave advice to carry below half full fuel tanks (less weight) to have better fuel consumption. However the newpaper I read suggested to carry full fuel tank (to minimise fuel evaporation). So which is better?
-
Hi all, This is a poll to find which 1.6A car here actually has the best fuel consumption. Feel free to comment. Let's keep ball rolling.

OK with fuel prices at an all time high, efficient use of the A/C is important. Unless you go all out not using the A/C to conserve fuel, this is not important to you. However, living here in the tropics, the A/C is a godsend. How to use it efficiently? Firstly know this: 1. The fan actually draws very little power from the engine for A/C use. 2. The compressor draws the most power. 3. The compressor cycles in a certain frequency to keep the evaporator core at the desired temperature. 4. Higher fan speed will make the evaporator absorb more heat causing the compressor to cycle faster AKA run more. OK from all these here is my strategy on how I achieved very good FC even with the A/C. 1. Start engine. 2. Turn off recirculation. Yes turn it off. Open all windows if it is really very hot. 3. Turn to max cooling (temperature control knob). 4. Turn to max fan (fan speed control). Now drive off. Once the temperatures are comfortable: 1. Turn on recirculation. 2. Reduce cooling to the last blue bar before they start mixing with the red bar. 3. Reduce fan to minimum required. Now the reason is this. When starting off, turning off recirculation will bring in cooler air into the cabin. Even when a car is parked in a sheltered place, the interior is still warmer than the external air. This is always the case. In open spaces and under the sun, opening the windows will alow more air to come in. Driving actually allows cooler air to enter the cabin. Once the temperature drops. Reducing everything actually just removes moisture out of the car which maintains its cool temperature rather than outright refrigeration of your cabin. You save energy in the end. An internal thermometer helps to gauge the temperature in your car to do this.

Who has installed the most Fuel Efficient equipment ?
Mycar posted a topic in Performance and Tuning
Hi, There are so many fuel savers out in the market. Care to share your experience if you have any of such installed? You may want to share the followings for the benefit of all car users... 1. How much of Fuel efficiency improvement 2. How much of Engine power improvement 3. What is the item installed and how much 4. Any side effects Mycar -
Is it true that a car with a smaller engine capacity is more fuel efficient? Take the example of Toyota Passo. It comes in 1.0L and 1.3L versions. Given the same configurations except for the engine size, is the 1.0L more fuel efficient than the 1.3L? Please enlighten.

After seeing Remy's done-up bodykitted Waja and E230's Waja .... I am very much attracted to the Waja. Was looking around for info on Waja and found this. I didnt know the Waja is called Proton Impian in UK and the Wira is known as Proton Persona. Why do car manufacturers name their cars differently for different regions ah ?? Much like Sentra and Sunny, 323 and Protege and much much more. Why ah ? Remy .. whats your FC like ?? The Australian Government
