  1. For those looking to buy a DA Machine Polisher, i just saw the G220EU from Meguiars selling for $350 at Autobacs. Good thing is that it is 240v so no need transformer...
  2. Thinking of getting the Redmi Note 3 @ $299. It has a 4000mAh battery with dual sim function. Alternative would be note 5 but a bit out of budget. Any grabcar/uber drivers here? What are your phone you used for work? The huawei I purchase from Grabcar cmi.
  3. Hi all, Any experts there who can recommend a dual SIM Smart phones, that are currently available in SG/MY? Thank you very much. Regards,
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W42zsFYjZvM No wonder VW dry clutch fail so often in SG... too much start stop traffic here...
  5. Here's the full story, Cut a long story short - Dual citizen with Kiwi father been living in NZ since he was 8, Doesn't wanna do NS
  6. Touchy topic, worth a discussion since most peeps tend to say "my car".
  7. Only had for little over 2 months and my car was totalled from behind. Video from my DVR helped show that I had very good distance to the car in front of me, but I hit it due to the impact from being hit from behind. Cops were trying to say i was following to close... nobody was the guy behind didn't pay attention wehen traffic suddenly stopped. Video was helpful for insurances and even my chiropractor. Simultainious video plays big role for seeing what happened, instead of just the front camera or separate 2 cameras. With this unit you choose to show (copy to computer) 1 camera or both camera videos after it is already recorded! You are in control!
  8. anyone with the above can help me try this ? I would like to know if for a dual sim smart phone, can we I put in my own SG card (for roaming) and then for the second card, put in a foreign data sim card and set it to be a hotspot card ? meaning my SG card will tap on the foreign data-sim for data access ? when I am overseas ? all in the same phone ? so i do not have to carry two phones ? (coz now I will use my Samsung Note with a foreign datasim and set it to be a hotspot, and then use my Xperia Z with SG card inside for roaming and access the wifi of the Note.)
  9. A friend of mine was asking. For those kids who are below 21 and took up SG citizenship, they are not allowed to renounce their MY citizenship until the age of 21. I wonder will they be picked to do MY's NS or not..... Since we are also in the same situation, I'm curious to know too... Anybody has such experience?
  10. Hello All, I'm currently considering getting the above mentioned DVR. I did some check on it online and get to know its features better. I know the con on this DVR is it uses micro SD and the internal camera quality is lousy. However, all the reviews I came across were from other countries, so I would like to hear from our fellow forum members if any have experience with this DVR. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Also, I do not wish to run the charging cable in my car, so I will be bringing home to charge daily, so I'm very concern with the operating duration for one full charge. Lastly, I would like to point out that I did put effort to search the forum with x3000 and r300 in different forms but could not get any return threads. Therefore, if there is a similar thread, apologies for that. Thank you everyone! And have a nice day Orto
  11. Personally I do not agree because of the nagging feeling that those with dual citizenships (DC) may probably hightail to his or her country of origin when the sh!t hits the fan in Singapore. Call me cynical but folks generally will avoid crisis for self-preservation so if given an alternative to siam I am pretty sure some will just do that. Dire if you consider in terms of male's NS obligations in Singapore and for those with DCs they may just pack up and leave when our national security is on the line. Some agree with me but there are those who advocates this controversial DC system: From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...enship-20130206 A firm 'no' to dual citizenship Published on Feb 06, 2013 THERE are many government policies I disagree with, but I passionately support its firm stand on prohibiting dual citizenship ("Home in Singapore, heart in homeland"; Monday). This is despite the fact that a policy reversal would make my own life more convenient. I am living overseas in a country where I have long qualified to apply for citizenship. As tempting as it is to serve two masters, I strongly believe the right thing to do is to refrain from it. I disagree with migration expert Leong Chan Hoong, who says highly skilled and mobile Singaporeans could easily leave Singapore during a crisis even without dual citizenship. If Singapore were at war, anyone liable for any form of national service would most likely be prevented by the authorities from leaving, regardless of how skilled they are in their chosen professions. What do we do with Singaporeans who are also citizens of a country with which we have a conflict? It is foreseeable that some Singaporeans who are citizens of friendly countries would want to leave. Such Singaporeans, like any other, have the patriotic duty of defending Singapore. However, the governments of those friendly countries could still pressure Singapore to release these dual citizens. Why should we put our Government in such a potentially awkward situation at a time when its efforts and resources should be fully focused on how best to maintain our survival? I also doubt the objectivity of sociologist Paulin Straughan's views. She has two sons with dual citizenship who must decide which citizenship to give up when they turn 21. She says it makes no sense "to lose a Singaporean child who has grown up here, while giving citizenship to newcomers". What is senseless is to give Singapore citizenship to those who are willing to give it up for another. Our national policy on dual citizenship should not kowtow to the wishes of those who simply want more convenience for themselves. It should place the best interest of our country above all else, always. If there is a national policy that must be dogmatic and rigid, this is it, even if it is viewed by some as being overly so. It could mean the very survival of our precious little island in future. Michael Ang York Poon ***** From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...stance-20130206 Govt should review stance Published on Feb 06, 2013 THERE are even more people whose homes are overseas but whose hearts are in Singapore ("Home in Singapore, heart in homeland"; Monday). I know many Singaporeans who emigrated for various reasons. Some of their grown-up, highly qualified children would like to live and work in Singapore if they could have dual citizenship. This would add talented people, who are of Singapore origin and who consider themselves to be Singaporeans, to our workforce. There are also retirees who would like to spend their last years with their children overseas, but wish to keep their Singapore citizenship. If they live overseas, it would reduce the strain on our country in caring for the elderly. Those who want dual citizenship would be too few in number to warrant concerns over a mass exodus of people in times of war or strife. The Government should review its stance on dual citizenship, which is allowed in many countries. Roshni Asha (Mrs)

  19. Geesh! This is one of the most outrageous use of a laptop....but it sure was interesting! From STOMP: MacBook Air is 'good' in kitchen too -- for cutting apple, veggies and prawn The MacBook Air can be useful for surfing the web or doing homework, but this guy has brought the notebook to another level. He is using its thin, lightweight aluminium body like a knife, to cut various food items in the kitchen! STOMPer Applefan shares these videos. The STOMPer commented: "I'm not sure what this guy is trying to prove, but this is ridiculous yet funny. "Especially when he cuts the apple: Using Apple to cut apple? "So be careful when you use the MacBook Air; you might cut yourself!"
  20. I will generally consider a dual citizen like her to be Singaporean enough but I always thought President's Scholarship is a very symbolic award and a role model for Singaporean students. What does this award mean? She is not even serving military service. I feel we Singaporeans are like that old 46 year old first wife of the government who stuck with them through the hard times when they were poor and now that they are rich and found fancy and young PRC mistresses and is starting to hiam how old and ugly we have become. http://forums.asiaone.com/showthread.php?t=41882
  21. This fella shud just write direct to CEA and complain against the agt. Write to forum for wat? wif reference to his last sentence, shows he not aware of this dual representation rule. ST Forum Mar 16, 2011 Tackle agents seeking dual rental commissions THE article by Ms Jessica Cheam last Saturday was timely ("When your agent does not act in your interest"). Although the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) has banned dual representation, where the same agent cannot represent both buyer and seller, in a sales and purchase agreement, it has said nothing about a rental agreement. Recently, I purchased a property with tenancy. There was no formal rental agreement between the previous owner and the tenants. When I asked the agent representing the previous owner if he could draft a rental agreement for me and the existing tenants, he boldly asked the tenants for a commission. The tenants were upset because he was asking for a lot of money. I was upset because he put off my tenants and put a strain on our relationship. I was in fact ready to pay him a commission for doing the paperwork. However, that does not warrant a commission equivalent to one month's rental because he did no actual work and put up no advertisement in locating the tenants. I hope CEA would ban agents from collecting commissions from both the landlord and the tenants as there would surely be a conflict of interest. Sim Ghee Choon
