Hi All, The reason for this post is to inspire those that have the capacity and capability to give back to needy Singaporeans. (MCF all loaded people 🤣🤣) been very fortunate to be in a comfortable position during these turbulence and economically challenging time, thus decided to give back to the community. have decided to donate a small token of appreciation for the guidance and opportunity which was shown to me. hopefully the needy students would have some pressure taken off them while in school. has also on company level, have park some money with government institutions to help need Singaporeans. even if this post managed to inspire 1 person to help , it has achieved the intention. again, dont have so much time to surf, merry Christmas and happy new year

Ever since I heard about the monthly donation of 10% of one's salary, I found it rather fishy. I can't remember what church though. Are there others beyond City Harvest that ask for a fixed (or fixed %) donation every month?

Good day to all. With regards to the other thread that I started, I would like to make it easier for the mods to hold charity events. I think if we start pledging donations in cash or kind, it will be easier for the mods here to gauge the feasibility. Please put your names down on whatever you can contribute. It doensn't matter if you cannot spare the time, just contribute some money will be equally good. But please follow up with your pledge unless there is really valid reason. My condition for the money is to be dispersed is very simple: -must be new initiative by mods or people sanctioned by mods in mcf There is no menaing to contribute to other causes as I believe all of us have been doing this OK, let us put our energy to some action to get some results. BEIJING (AFP) - - Staff at a bank in China's quake zone used relief funds to buy themselves US brand runners, the country's audit office said Friday after probing for instances of aid money going astray. A branch of ICBC, the biggest bank in China, in quake-hit Mianyang city bought 56 pairs of Nike runners for its workers, the audit office said in a statement posted on its website. The branch used 28,500 yuan (4,100 dollars) to buy the shoes at the end of May, and faked the receipts to say it had bought raincoats, rubber boots and umbrellas, the report said. "After the audit investigation revealed this problem, the bank returned the 'special earthquake funds' that were inappropriately used," the report said. Another investigation by the audit office revealed that in some areas, text messages about the quake were sent en masse, and were suspected of cheating mobile phone users into donating money into bank accounts, the report said. "According to our investigation, there are some people who already put earthquake donations into the fundraising accounts," the report said. Those accounts had been frozen, according to the audit office, which did not reveal how much money was involved. Misappropriation of funds allocated to help in the wake of the 8.0-magnitude earthquake -- which has killed nearly 70,000 and left another 17,500 missing -- is of huge concern in a country where graft is endemic. Corruption is rampant both in government ranks and throughout society, as the country ploughs through its development boom without a free press or an independent judiciary. Hi All, Just wonder how many MCF donate to the above show. After so many "cases", suprisingly last night still many donors...& i'm not one of them. For me, I have just received my IRAS & GST offset packaging, swee swee timing, i will be donating my GST offset to IRAS..but need to top up some more.
