i'm a car cam newbie and i've been reading up about the car cam's electrical consumption and it's effect on the car battery. apparently, car battery is built primarily for the purpose of producing a high burst of ampere for cold cranking. it is not designed to be frequently discharged to near or zero charge like in a mobile/laptop battery. doing so will shorten it's life span. the below article from dashcamtalk was very educational for me. i didn't know that setting the car cam power cut-off device to below 12.4V is not a good thing for the car battery. the technician who installed my car cam originally left the cut-off voltage at the default 11.8V as he said it'll give the longest operational time for the car cam. after reading the article, i changed the cut-off voltage to 12.2V which is the highest that the device can do. for you guys who's been using car cam for a long while, what cut-off voltage do you guys set to? do you notice any perceptible shortening of your battery life span for guys who set it below 12V?

Example 100% win case but 3rd party insurance discharged their client based on some internal arrangement. In this case, cannot claim from 3rd party because they no longer cover the person that caused the accident. How do you deal with this? Claim OD? Or engage a lawyer and bring the driver to court?

Can anyone here advise how to prevent static build up on our body? Especially after a long drive (>30mins)? I keep getting static discharge whenever I exit my car after a long drive. Its very irritating when I close the door and the static strikes my fingers. I also know its very dangerous at the petrol station if I don't discharge the static before picking up the pump. Anyone with similar problems and solutions to share?

I got into an accident two months ago. I hit another car's door while attempting to avoid a BMW which suddenly swerved into my way. The repairs on my car has been done but there's no claim form the other party on my insurance. My insurance company sent me a letter saying they want to pay me $50 x 8 days = $400 for my 'loss of use' in accordance to my policy. But the letter I received is a 'DISCHAGE' letter. Upon signing(as taken from the letter), I would agree to accept the sum of $400 and final claims I may have against the Insurance company in respect to the accident. And the Insurance company shall be fully discharged from all claims I have or may have in respect to the accident. The other party has not claimed against me yet. Does this mean the insurance company won't let the other party claim from them if I signed the forms? Or does this letter refers only to me as the insurance company has already authorised and paid for my car repairs? Advice please...
