  1. Came accross this article in Yahoo ........... Yahoo news: Dear CPF: Give Me Back My Money! Dear CPF, For years you’ve taken a cut from my paycheck under the promise of social “protection.” In a way, you’re like a very well-intentioned gangster, protecting my money from well… me right? I’m grateful though that you at least “allow” me to use some of my money towards buying a home, or to subsidise (partially) my hospital bills. I’m not going to ask what you do with my money while it’s in your hands (I’m sure it’s just sitting there untouched right?). But I do ask that you let me use it for pressing emergencies that directly affect me and my family’s well-being. What do I mean? Let me enlighten you. 1. For Retrenchment My financial obligations won’t stop if I get retrenched. Finding a job takes 2-3 months at best. I’m lucky I have enough savings to last me 3 months, but what if it takes longer? What if I had no savings to begin with? Any unsecured debt I have (credit cards, car loan, personal loans, etc.) still needs to be paid – otherwise I risk damaging my credit with late payments or even default. The banks don’t care that I lost my job. They’re about as sympathetic as a cat watching a rodent struggle in a mousetrap. But if I could use my “account” to service my unsecured debt if I get retrenched, even if it’s just to make my minimum payments, that would give me the financial flexibility to weather the situation. Plus, it would discourage those without savings from worsening their financial situation by going to Ah Longs for money. 2. For Education Ultimately, the government wants me to be successful. The more successful I am, the more taxes I can contribute to our nation’s economy. So why can’t I use some of the money from my account towards education, whether I want to pursue an MDA-approved training course or a degree? You don’t need me to tell you that education improves my earning potential, which is a win-win for everyone. I improve my standard of living while the government takes a greater amount of tax revenue. Plus, if I’m working in a sunset industry that has a bleak outlook, I can get the training I need to transition to a more promising profession. But not everyone has the money on hand to pay for education… oh yeah, they do – you’re holding it CPF! So ease up a little on the funds distribution and let us chant Jerry Maguire’s “help me, help you” line together yeah? 3. For Growing Transportation Costs Paying for transportation in Singapore is like choosing how you want to be tortured. The choices differ, but the result is the same – you’re still paying hundreds or thousands of dollars a month just to commute daily! It doesn’t matter whether you own a car or use public transportation, the cost to travel to and from work, pick up the wife and kids, or take the family out to Sentosa is always increasing. All you have to do is see how much COE, ERP, taxi, and public transportation rates have increased over the last few years. Of course, I don’t own 3 cars, nor do I live in Sentosa Cove – and neither do a majority of citizens who suffer every time transportation costs rise. But it would help if I could use some of my funds as a monthly “transportation allowance” to offset the financial pain felt by price hikes. In Conclusion… Now, before you crumple up this letter (if you haven’t already), I have one more thing to say… Tax payers won’t need to support me with these situations. That’s because this money is already mine to begin with (or so you tell me). All I’m asking is that you make it easier for me to access my funds so I can patch up my social safety net. If you need to validate my situation before dispersing my funds to prevent “fraud,” I’m fine with that. I’d rather deal with the inconvenience of a sloth-like bureaucracy than have to worry about how I’m going to come up with cash in an emergency. Again, I’m grateful for the monthly shakedown that’s necessary for my retirement. But you’ve got to be a little more flexible when it comes to financial emergencies that cannot wait. Yours sincerely, A Messenger of Singaporean Frustrations P.S. Umm…. yeah, if you could let me use my funds to cover the hospital bill for childbirth (c’mon, we’re doing you a favor by creating more taxpayers) and for elderly friendly renovations to take care of my ageing grandparents without sending them to a home, that would be great. link: http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/dear-cpf-back-money-160000444.html Look like the person who wrote this has not reach the retirement age or 55yrs to withdraw his CPF. Thats why very important to save for raining days....
  2. Try not to waste water for this period of time, like washing your car..... Parts of Malaysia already start rationing water, quite suffering over there.
  3. Saw this posting on FB. since the company name was mentioned, i think it should not be untrue. ========================================================================================================= Dear Mr Prime Minister, My name is Delwyn Yee Zheng Ting, aged 21 and I wish to discuss a very dire issue regarding my father Dallas Yee Kok Keong aged 48. My father is a very hardworking man who was working for Jaguar Landrover as a manager and was forced to resign by his superior who is a Canadian. This particular superior was a bully. He draws a high salary and would always push all the work to my father who was already very busy but my father was way too good a person to make a fuss with him. His immediate superior drew a high salary but was not able to perform. He even asked my father how to do excel spread sheet and power point. How is this person a foreign “talent”? To me he is just another bad person making use of my dad! My father tried his best to inform the higher authority about this issue but it didn’t work. This was because the top management were all Westerners. Many of the managers from the company resigned, leaving only my father who still turned up for work faithfully everyday. 3 months ago, my father was called up by his Canadian boss and was told that my father had to either resign or be sacked by the company. The reason he gave was they thought my father would also resign like the rest of the managers. They told my father that the company had already employed someone else to replace him. This was even before my father’s resignation. My father had never thought of resigning. But his Westerner boss and superiors, thinking that he might be a threat to the company, forced him to resign. My father had no choice but to resign and was told to leave the company immediately. My father was a very good manager who was well liked by his staff. He had worked in the company for 6 years and his performance was always good. But he was forced to resign because his Canadian superior was not happy with him for no reason. His performance appraisal for the past 6 years in the company had been good. His customers were also happy with him. But he was forced to leave the company because these foreigners came to work in Singapore bullied my father. Thankfully, my father, having a good reputation in the industry, was immediately approached by Jaguar in the Philippines. He had to accept the position because he had no choice. He left with my younger brother and sister and my step mother. I am now studying in Poly and cannot go with him. Now I am living alone in Singapore with my family so far away. Is this fair? Is this fair to me or my dad? I really hope that you can come up with something to bring justice. Why are so many foreign talents allowed to work in Singapore even when they didn’t have the necessary skills? My father told me that his Canadian superior’s salary was so high that the company could use the money to employ 3 managers like my father. Shouldn’t Singaporeans be given the job? Or are the Singaporeans so incapable that we need to hire these foreign talents to come and bully my father. I know foreign talents are important. But my father is also a talent. He has 30 years of experience in the industry and has been hard working. Why should he lose his job for no good reasons and now have to leave Singapore to work in the Philippines? Please understand that I miss my father and my siblings. I am now all alone in Singapore. The foreign talents came in to Singapore and now Singapore talents have to leave and families break up. Is this what Singapore should become? Thank you for listening to me. http://therealsingapore.com/content/young-singaporean-pm-lee-please-stop-bringing-anymore-foreign-talents

  6. if you're reading this, i understand that it's 1am in the morning and everybody's tired. however in a 2 lane turn at the junction, you were at the right while i was at the left. the green light went and the bus infront of me went first. you then revved but didnt really move. i followed the bus in my turn, but you then tried to cut into my left lane while turning, horning all the way. i had to brake hard in order to prevent an accident, and mind you, this is all at the risk that an on coming car might slam into me. i had no idea why you were so trigger happy to blast your horn. while i could have, i didnt. after failing to execute the lane change, you stuck to your lane. as i was behind the bus, there was ample time and space for you to overtake me. but you chose to follow side by side to my car, revving your engine many times. you then gave me a finger salute before breaking the silence and slowly accelerating away. 1) i had no idea what you were up to 2) i had a good laugh when i saw the red plate and your ugly looking wannabe WRX beng look. oh. and did i mention the p-plate? drive safe.

  10. Has a very strong passion in driving and goes to the extent of renting cars very often just to drive, will you buy your kid a cheap car? ie: a Starlet for him? And he also came up with a proposal about the advantages of having a car, like can drive you all around, get the groceries from the market etc etc.. And he also wants to use this experience to learn the parts of the car, engine, gearbox etc.
  11. Hi all, On a 3 lanes roads, I was driving on the centre lane behind a motorcycle. Infront traffic, about to change from amber to red, seeing that the motorcycle infront has been consistently fast, I thought it would cycle past the amber light. But to my horror, it jammed brake at that split second, I have no choice but to quickly filter to the right (happened to be empty) to avoid collison and quickly dashed through the red light at 100km/h. At dashing, the red light was probably on for 1~2 secs and there was a camera pole there. Though I didn't see any flash, I suspect I might have kena already. Sian lah, almost CNY liao, this kind of thing happened to me. Moody now . Anyone has such experience before? Regards,
  12. Dear Parents Volunteers, You are lovely parents, trying your best to get your kids into good schools by doing parent volunteers. You take leave from works for every 1-2 hours assignment given to you by the school's PV commitee members, assuring you that every PVs are fairly informed of the assignments. However, you found out that the commitee is actually b-------tting you with obvious ambiguity in giving assignments, i.e. they award/inform those long hours events to their own kakis. This means that you run into a risk of not obtaining the required hours to fulfill your duty while others come late & yet clocked the hours needed - just b'cos they are kakis to the PV commitee. What would/can you do?
  13. Hoping to educate the driver above 1. If someone gives way to you, it's polite to wave to say thank you. 2. If a police officer is directing traffic, please follow the officer when he is asking you to move even if the light is red. 3. I only tapped (not blast) the horn to alert you to the officer's instruction - there is no need to point fingers, jam brake etc in front of me - FYI the police officer was staring at you while you were busy waving your fingers. 4. Using the handphone to call while driving is also illegal 5. And lastly, since you showed me 999 on your mobile, I went back to the police officer to get his name and check if he witness the incident - which he did. FYI, i did not make a report to the traffic police to report your case, but I am not sure if the TP officer will investige. Should the police decide to investige - Good Luck Bro! :)

  15. Would you people join me in congatulating our dear MM LKY a happy 85th birthday... At his age, he should be retired.....
  16. Dear MOT, This morning at about 850am, I was able to ride on your CTE travelling at speeds of 85-100kph. Your ERP scheme seem to have a positive effect. I got to office on time and was very productive, hence contributing to our economy and your bonus. Since you mention that the idea of ERP is to keep speeds at about 65kph for expressways, and if this is achieved, ERP rates may be lowered, how about lowering the gantry before PIE exit from $4 to $3? In the evenings, my son is happy that i am home earlier because CTE is clear. So how about lowering the evening charges by $1? Maybe I can even consider help my beloved country birth ratio to be higher. Please consider. your obedient peasant.
  17. Dear Chin Chai One 10Q you for your letter. On behalf of the Prime Minister, I am replying to your letter as follows. As the erected party of Singaporeans, we are here to serve. We are demon-cratic country, you are master, we gahmen servant, we serve you. You got problems we must help. You say no need our help? That means your not Singapore 's master. You say you run for cover? Cannot one, our police will find you. GST is to help the Gahmen to help yourself. The Gahmen Service Tax is everywhere, you go America also have one, cannot run one. Traffic very bad, so bad that we have to hold car racing at nite to avoid traffic jam. We believe there is no free lunch like PM's father say before, you use, you must pay, so Every Road Pay. So you see no ERP cannot one. Needless to say, passenger service also must pay. The increase in bus fare and MRT and taxi fare are very little already. We forsee world inflation coming: oil, steel, pay of foreign talents etc, so we have to pay for the service. You see, many foreign talents come to Singapore . If we don't pay our ministers well, they will go other countries to be their foreign talents. So must raise salary to keep them. If not, Nathan, Shanmugam, Bala etc will go India and work. Khaw will go Malaysia . etc etc. Must keep them. To keep them must pay well. You are right, any help also must pay. To help yourself? No, it's illegal. You mean you can build your own MRT? Run your own buses? Drive your Ba-Ong-Chia? Build your own roads? Seow liao!! Every one help himself then how? No social order lah! Ga ga ask for help, we are here to serve you. We understand some of you have temporary problem. Dont worry, it is only short term. We must look long term. We must invest long term. Now lose a bit dont cow beh cow boo, long term! Yes, remember. 30 or 50 years later we will own Swiss banks, US banks, UK properties, maybe even South Pole condominiums. We must tighten our seat belt and bite our false teeth. The future very bright. As long as you> continue to support the gahmen 30 to 50 years you will see bright future. So Chiang See Tong a bit lah. Also, investing is very complicated business, not easy. We must pay school fee to learn from advanced countries. On Selamat's case, we also must learn our lesson. We encourage life-long-learning. I learn whole life time, you learn whole life, Mr Wong Cant Sing also whole life learning. It's actually good. Mr Wong already apologise, dont force a dog to jump over the wall, the wall may collapse. Old dog cannot jump high also. Selamat's case gives us many lessons. We must be on alert, not too complacent. Now every Singaporean know there can be a terrorist among us any time. This is the best self defence education !! PM will give Mr Wong another salary increment for that. Also now we merge the prisons and detention centre, more space will be available now. We will build it like another IR, Integrated Retention - so those dont want our service and thinking of doing illegal service will go there. We will pass a new law too, the expenses for stay in that IR will be deducted from your CPF money. Remember we must be grateful to people who help us --> and pay. I hope I have explained the situation and give you the message clearly. If you still need help, please call my handphone: 99906767, it's toll-free. By the way, Mr Chin Chai One, our pioneer Toh Chin Chai already toh long ago. So if you choose to be Chin Chin Chai Chai, you will also Toh. 10Q you again, Reguards, Ah Beng Grassrude secretary
  18. My dear, have been waiting for you at Orchard MRT. That Unker M3 and Auntie Blue2 have bought you many things to send back to Manila. Please call me if you see this mail.
  19. Dear Prime Minister, We citizens of singapore urge you to PLEASE MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. We DO NOT NEED your help. Every time, you mention HELP, we have to run for cover!!! Help the poor? Raise GST! Help traffic flow? Up ERP! Help passenger service? Up Bus fare/MRT fare! Help us get taxi? Raise taxi fare! Help us get good government? Raise Minister and Civil servant salary! Everytime YOU WANT TO HELP, we all PAY FOR IT!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU...TOLONG LAH, please, we will HELP OURSELVES, no need your help liao. We DARE NOT ask for help any more!!! Sir, most honoured sir, I urge you NOT TO HELP Singapore INVEST also! Everytime your wife invest, we all lose money! Kao liao, kum siah! Just let us have a dose of bad governance, like recently the Mat Selamat case, like dat....so far, it is ok, your incompetence, we ACCEPT! PLEASE DO NOT help us have better security! Wait we all kena PAY FOR IT!! I believe ALL SINGAPOREANS PREFER NOT TO HAVE CRUTCH MENTALITY! I think it is ok lah, please just take your salary and enjoy life ok? Thank you thank you, I am very chin chai one, any how any how, no need to help oso can one.
  20. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2...4.html?vgnmr=1 Hougang Town Council staff are all S'poreans: Workers' Party It reveals this in response to challenge from PAP MP Seng Han Thong By Sue-Ann Chia Mr Seng, assistant secretary-general of the NTUC, had on Thursday taken the opposition party to task for its May Day message. -- PHOTO: ZAOBAO ALL the town council staff in opposition-held ward Hougang are Singaporeans, the Workers' Party said on Friday in response to a challenge from MP Seng Han Thong of the People's Action Party. However, the WP was quick to add that it recognises the contribution of foreign workers and is not against their employment. For instance, Hougang town council does not object to its contractors deploying foreign workers in the estate, it said in a statement signed by the party's organising secretary Yaw Shin Leong. The town council is run by the ward's MP Low Thia Khiang, secretary-general of the WP. Mr Seng, assistant secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress, had on Thursday taken the opposition party to task for its May Day message. The WP had questioned if Singaporeans 'truly benefitted' from the job boom as six in 10 new jobs went to foreigners. Rebutting the WP, Mr Seng told reporters on the sidelines of the May Day rally: 'We should take a pragmatic approach on this foreign worker issue.' He also challenged the WP to match its words with deeds, by ensuring the Hougang Town Council did not hire any foreigners. On Friday, the WP reiterated its views on foreigners. 'The issue here is not of foreign workers' employment per se but rather how the Singapore Government and the labour union will ensure that the dignity and societal position of Singaporean workers are not compromised,' the party said. The Government's attitude, it added, should be to put Singaporeans first and 'resist any erosion of Singaporeans' societal standing'. 'It is the Government's responsibility to show compassion for the plight of the workers facing the pressure of high inflation,' the WP said. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2...4.html?vgnmr=1 so employ non singaporeans in town council is considered unpatrotic arh?wahhhhh..... who are? which town council? own up leh.... khiang tio si khiang... not khiang sian hor mai kay khiang...
  21. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...nt.jsp?id=11450 See the picture of the car and the motorcycle. I hope this will serve as good lesson for those who attempt to speed by the car on the left. I personally encountered 2 times involving the motorcycle and me. Taking left bend turn and cutting me on my left. And I only see them when they appear on my front windscreen. Touch-wood, everything is fine in the accident mentioned and in my case too. Not all and everyone will be lucky. Have a safe and merry Xmas.
  22. Sad to say that I have to let go my dearest ride ... First of TC car I have ever drove in my years of driving ... Handling is great and the 1.8T engine powerplant makes the Octy much more power and torque together with a 5 speed manual transmission makes you overtaking without stress ... I will greatly miss this car and it's performance...
  23. With a heavy heart, I handed over my old car to a dealer today That dude is still in very good working condition. However, as it is very old, I have no choice but to sell it and move on. Goodbye my dear friend! I will miss you Now I have to prepare and book an air ticket to Germany in the near future
  24. Dear all I've installed a set of air horns on my vehicle. After a few horn sounding, there was no more sound. I think I might have blown the fuse. Question: My stock horns require an amperage of 10A, (see attachment) in the fuse box is a 10A fuse for the stock horns(a pair). I looked at the box for the air horn and it requires a 20A fuse. When I installed the air horn, I left one side of the stock horn back on, connected. When I did the connection, I spliced one of the pair, and just connected the positive and negative sides to the air horn, with out the relay which is included in the air horn box. Cos in my circuit diagram, you can see an existing relay. Should I use back a 10A fuse, change to a 20A fuse and take out the stock horn, or use a 20A fuse and keep both the stock horn and air horns on? In the Western part of Singapore, where is a good choice to get fuses on a Saturday? Or do I have to go down to Sim Lim Tower? Your help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Lester
