  1. Hi guys, I was about to commit a second hand about 2 years old A6 1.8 TFSI Ultra Edition. What is the pros and cons of this car? Tried searching but to no avail. Seems like there not much mentioned. Also, do you guys know how to differentiate the Matrix headlight? Heard that this is a very expensive option. Any comments and advises are welcome. Many thanks in advance.
  2. Hi I just change my Amazon battery less than 10 month ago from AA, however, yesterday the batt is weak and I could not start and get AA mechanical to come down and check, he managed to jumpstart and check, his reason was the car electronic fault and not the battery, the car electronic eg: Sound system, light, video camera etc are drawing current from the battery even through the car engine is off. I try to drive the car for at least 30min after he jumpstart to charge the battery. This morning my car could not start again, I am now waiting for AA to come and jumpstart again, Can someone advise , is it possible on what the AA mechanical have claim? Thanks

  7. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-03-26/life-without-lee-for-pap-clouds-outlook-after-50-years-of-power have to agree. look at all the GRCs, once lao goh and a couple other stalwarts step down at the upcoming GE, who are the heavy weights left? Only finance minister can cut it. the rest like TCJ, kee chiu, vivian... are so lightweight. even education minister seems soft.
  8. If I were him let both drown n find new one
  9. People, Looking at current property prices, will you cash out on your ONLY property to downgrade?? Let's say if one downgrade the property to a small leasehold 99yr condo, one can probably free up a lot of cash (1-2mil?) The point is what to do with the cash. Buy overseas property? London? Singapore is no1 foreign buying of London properties... Australia? I am seriously thinking about this route with the current property prices... Jurong hitting 1700 psf.... Is it a good idea? My previous neighbour sold his place together with me in 2009 and he went rental while I upgraded... needless to say, he is screwed...
  10. Hi guys Just went to change battery (one year) Reason : when crank the bat like half dead. But manage to start. Don't want to take chance. Went to change. The mechanic told me that our iu drain lots of current. Is this true? What if we install a switch on the iu wire. On it when want to use. Anyone tried this?
  11. "The survey's composite five-year-expectation is 4.97 per cent - just below the 5.2 per cent predicted in the survey in September. "(see report: 'Singapore's inflation may remain elevated for years to come: survey') S$100K in CPF OA @int.2.5%, inflation 5%(proj): value @ end of 5 years??... S$100,000, net interest over 5 yrs (CPF OA 2.5%interest, 5% annual loss to inflation= nett -2.5% interest): S$100K *0.975 *0.975 *0.975 *0.975 *0.975= $88,110 (i.e. loss of nett S$11,890) to inflation due to the SG govt printing extra SGD [see: Money printing (/borrowing) by Singapore government- how much is too much? ]. Suggestion: Perhaps SG govt will allow much more than the current measly 10% of CPF OA to be invested in gold; or as a last resort, pay inflation rate plus 1% on all CPF OA accounts? 14. Saw quite a few saying they make money...but until now I still don't believe...went to a AD early this week...I thought if really can fetch more money...I don't mind selling current two cars off and just live with one new car...since selling away both cars and getting back one new may be able to help offset the rocketing COE...so I ask the SE...He say used car price same same...not much change from last time...because they cater for different needs...if someone need to pay so much for a used car with low COE...they might as well buy a new car...well...what he say is what I thought too...and no reason that he will lie to me...because then he lost a customer...in fact he should tell me old car fetch good price and encourage me to change... is the myth busted...or the salesman is new on the job !!! [confused]
  15. My friend was a bump before NS, after that he became more serious, re-did his O-level as a private student and finally got his diploma. He told people NS changed his life:- the disciplines, etc and confinement in camp gave him time to think about his future. I also have friends came out of NS same, or even worse, than before. My lessons in NS were very small:- field camp ------> appreciate basic comfort in civilian life, keng-kings colleagues in camp ----> how to spot keng-staff at work Not sure more positive or negative lessons which we can use in current work, or even just civilian life.
  16. Hi all, need some advices. Currently I'm using 185/65 R15 tyres on my Nissan Latio. I would like to know whether I could replace 205/65 R15 tyres? Thanks.
  17. Current European Tax Rates The tax figures below are real, factual, basis, ...... ? A wake up call huh ? United Kingdom Income Tax: 50% VAT: 17.5% TOTAL: 67.5% France Income Tax: 40% VAT: 19.6% TOTAL: 59.6% Greece Income Tax: 40% VAT: 25% TOTAL: 65% Spain Income Tax: 45% VAT: 16% TOTAL: 61% Portugal Income Tax: 42% VAT: 20% TOTAL: 62% Sweden Income Tax: 55% VAT: 25% TOTAL: 80% Norway Income Tax: 54.3% VAT: 25% TOTAL: 79.3% Netherlands Income Tax: 52% VAT: 19% TOTAL: 71% Denmark Income Tax: 58% VAT: 25% TOTAL: 83% Finland Income Tax: 53% VAT: 22% TOTAL: 75% If you've started to wonder what the real costs of socialism are going to be - once the full program in these United States hits your wallet, take a look at the table. As you digest these mind-boggling figures, keep in mind that in spite of these astronomical tax rates, these countries are still not financing their social welfare programs exclusively from tax revenues! They are deeply mired in public debt of gargantuan proportions. Greece has reached the point where its debt is so huge it is in imminent danger of defaulting. That is the reason the European economic community has intervened to bail them out. If you're following the financial news, you know Spain and Portugal are right behind Greece . The United States is now heading right down the same path. The VAT tax in the table is the national sales tax that Europeans pay. Stay tuned because that is exactly what you can expect to see the administration proposing after the fall elections. The initial percentage in the United States isn't going to be anywhere near the outrageous numbers you now see in Europe . Guess what. the current outrageous numbers in Europe didn't start out as outrageous either. They started out as minuscule - right around the 1% or 2% where they will start out in the United States . Magically, however, they ran up over the years to where they are now. Expect the same thing here. It is the very notion that with hard work and perseverance, anybody can get ahead economically here in the USA . Do you think that can ever happen with tax rates between 60% and 80%? Think again. With the government taking that percentage of your money, your life will be exactly like life in Europe ... You will never be able to buy a home. You will never buy a car. You will never send your children to college. Let's not shuffle the battle cry of the socialists under the rug either. It's always the same cry. Equalize income. Spread the wealth to the poor (whoever they are). Level the economic playing field. Accomplish that and everything will be rosy. It's time to take a really hard look at reality. Greece is a perfect example. Despite the socialism system that has ruled this country for decades, with a 65% tax rate, they are drowning in public debt, would have defaulted without hundreds of billions in bailout money from the EU, and still. . . 20% of their population lives in poverty. What has all that socialism money bought, besides ultimate power for the politicians running the show? Do you think these people are "free"? They're not. They are slaves to their economic "system."
  18. Let's share. I do not know how to start. I'm blushing. [laugh]
  19. If yes, why? And what could you have gotten during that time?
  20. Hi Bro, Please help. I am planning to change my 6yr old jap car to a cont. Seems like many ppl are going for resale but when I look carefully, new car seems to make more sense. eg. Golf new = ~$125k(ceo-50k) but 2yr old = ~$98k(coe-13k). So after some simple math, does NEW car seems to make more sense because I don't pay for others depreciation? Like to get some advice if I am thinking straight before jumping in and drown. Thanks
  21. Since the new 3 series will be out anyone know how is the price like or package(bodykit, GPS) like. Considered I have not own a branded conti car before.
